Titans Insider: Kenny Britt has minor procedure on right knee

Titans receiver Kenny Britt had minor arthroscopic surgery on his right knee on Wednesday, a procedure General Manager Ruston Webster said should accelerate his rehabilitation process.
Britt, who suffered a torn ACL and MCL last September, had been experiencing swelling in his knee in recent weeks, so doctors decided to go ahead and “clean it up.”
Webster said the procedure would likely set Britt back a week or two.
“It almost becomes commonplace,’’ Webster said of the procedure. “It is not one of those things, “Wow, oh no, he is having surgery. It is very common and if it helps his rehab process and all that, it is well worth doing. And our goal is to have him play this year.
“It will be helpful to him, I think, and probably accelerate his rehab.”
Webster, who spoke at the Comcast Spotlight Sports Speakers Series on Wednesday, said Britt ran well in recent days during workouts at Baptist Sports Park. But Britt has continued to experience swelling, something he said has been an issue in recent weeks.
*“Everything is going well,’’ Britt said last week. “The only thing I had a problem with is when my knee started swelling. I didn’t know it would do that and it kind of worried me. It was actually the low point of all this. But … it kind of comes with the territory. I am still confident with the knee.”
Instead of waiting, the Titans opted to have Dr. Burton Elrod perform the procedure on Wednesday.
Britt suffered the torn ACL and MCL on Sept. 25 against the Broncos, had surgery roughly a week later. He had 17 catches for 289 yards and three touchdowns before injury.
In his first three NFL seasons, Britt has 101 catches for 1,765 yards and 15 touchdowns in 31 games.*
Webster hopes Britt will be back for the start of the regular season.
“He is doing well, he was changing directions the other day,’’ Webster said. “It is just more how he reacts after he does that.”
