Gameball Monday: Titans at Texans
By Jeff Fuqua
Posted December 11th, 2006

A gameball is given each Monday after a victory to a player on offense, defense and special teams.

Offense
Vince Young
19-for-29 for 218 yards, 1 INT, 73.6 RT, 7 carries for 86 yards, 12.3 average, 1 TD

Don't you know Bud Adams has to feel like a little kid on Christmas morning? How satisfying it must be for him to extend the middle finger to the Texans franchise while keeping his hands in his pockets.

Young accounted for over 300 yards of offense yesterday and now has to be considered a Rookie of the Year candidate.

"
It was a great ending," said Young. "Being from Houston and being in front of my family and the fans that respect me as a player and a person as well. It can’t get any better than that."

Defense
Kyle Vanden Bosch
8 tackles

A case could be made for Bulluck or Pacman but the one player I saw impact the Texans offense just by being on the field as much as his play was KVB. He didn't have his usual multi-sack game but he was often in the Texans backfield and in the head of David Carr. The Texans took few deep shots which you can credit, in part, to the pressure from KVB and others. They also kept in more players for protection limiting available weapons for Carr.

Special Teams
Craig Hentrich
5 punts for 210 yards. 42.0 average. Long of 52. All downed inside the Texans 20

This is a tough one because Bironas nailed all his opportunities, Pacman had the big return in OT and the kickoff coverage units kept Jerome Mathis in check but I give the ball to Hentrich. He can share it with the punt coverage unit who made some solid plays keeping the Texans pinned back most of the game and forced them to drive the field.
