View From the Other Side: Jacksonville Jaguars

The Jaguars return home stunned, but the loss brings about an all-too familiar result. Just a week after defeating the first-place Indianapolis Colts with 375 rushing yards, Jacksonville dropped another road game and another game against an opponent that has a losing record.
The Jaguars finish the season 1-3 against Tennessee and Houston, the third- and fourth- place teams in the AFC South. They are also 2-5 away from Alltel Stadium. With games remaining against New England and on the road against Kansas City, the Jaguars could finish as well as 10-6 or at worst 8-8.

The Jaguars entered a football version of the Twilight Zone on Sunday and lost a surreal game to the Tennessee Titans though they dominated every phase but the turnover ratio.
The Jaguars marched up and down the field, rolling up a 396-98 edge in yardage, a 23-5 margin in first downs and a 44:22-15:38 edge in time of possession, yet lost 24-17 because of four costly turnovers.
"This is a real clear example where turnovers were the story,'' coach Jack Del Rio said.

There wasn't much visible anger to be found here on Sunday afternoon. Not much outward irritation, exasperation or desperation, either, let alone any displays of blistering rage. Put it this way: Walking through the Jaguars locker room in the aftermath of this debacle wasn't exactly like walking through a ring of fire.
That might have been the most surprising part, too. After a game like this one you expected to see some level of fury. Instead, Jack Del Rio stood at the podium in the interview room and stated, several times, that he wasn't frustrated.
Really?
"There's a lot of good football being played," he said, which might well have been true but still seemed a lot like trying to paint a smiley face on a corpse.
How could he not be peeved? Aggravated? Annoyed?
The Jags produced nearly four times as many yards as the Titans, held the ball for 75 percent of the game and rendered Titans quarterback Vince Young essentially meaningless; to do all that and still lose because of three turnovers is Webster's definition of "beating yourself."
Forget what the scoreboard said. The Jaguars basically beat the Jaguars, 21-17.
