Upon Further Review: Jaguars at Titans Grades

Quarterback The Vince Young Rookie of the Week train finally derails as the Jags only allowed him to touch the football 34 times on Sunday. He did protect the football well though had a brain cramp passing the ball late in the game leaving the Jags much more time than they should have had. He also took a 20 yard sack which hurt field position. Young finished the day 8-for-15 for 85 yards and a 70.1 passer rating. He only ran for four yards net.
Grade: C-
Running Back Travis Henry only had 12 carries on the day and was, on the most part, ineffective except for a nice 16-yard run from deep in Titans territory. Rookie LenDale White had a nine yard reception which, believe it or not, placed him third in the receiver category on the day.
Grade: C
Tight End Not surprising, the offense didn't get a lot of production from this unit. Bo Scaife was out but Cooper Wallace had a six-yard reception. Ben Hartsock's false start pinned the Titans back deeper in their own territory at a time they desperately needed to string together some first downs and rest the defense.
Grade: D+
Wide Receiver Bobby Wade had three receptions to lead the team for a total of 48 yards which was just under half of the Titans offensive production on the day.
Grade: C
Offensive Line Giving up three sacks and three QB hurries on only 15 attempts is not good. There also wasn't much opening up for the running game either. When the Titans were going for it on fourth down, the OL didn't get any kind of push.
Grade: C-
Defensive Line The DL accounted for 2.5 sacks and numerous hurries in the game but allowed the Jags to run over them to the tune of 202 yards. DE Kyle Vanden Bosch had 1.5 sacks which is his best production of the season.
Grade: C
Linebackers Like the DL, the LBs had problems slowing the run but generated 30 tackles, a sack and a forced fumble. Keith Bulluck had a big sack on a Jag's fourth down play and David Thornton stripped the ball Cortland Finnegan returned for a TD.
Grade: C+
Defensive Backs Three INTs and three turnovers returned for touchdowns while only allowing the Jaguars 233 yards receiving on 37 attempts.
Grade: A
Special Teams Pacman Jones had a 70-yard kickoff return. P Craig Hentrich had a 56-yard punt and K Rob Bironas was 1-for-2 in the FG department. Coverage units only allowed a 18.6 average on kickoff returns and 3.5 on punt returns. Stephen Tulloch recovered an onsides attempt.
Grade: A-
Coaching Coach Jeff Fisher made some good decisions with the challenges and calling a timeout to get the refs to review another. It's hard to argue going on fourth down in the second quarter even though it was unsuccessful.
No doubt the Schwartz defense is making huge plays but the Titans continue to struggle to slow the run and get off the field. Offensively, Chow didn't show much imagination with his limited opportunities.
Grade: B
