Upon Further Review: The Bye Week Blues

Cortland Finnegan is still getting a lot of love with the national media heads. In a Jason Cole article from Yahoo! Sport (LINK) he writes that Fin's "fiestiness" started back in high school basketball. "Cortland embodied what we were trying to do and, even though he wasn’t a big scorer, he was the reason we were able to compete because, defensively, he would simply take away the other team’s best scorer, deny him the ball completely, be a complete pest," his former coach said.

Being "a pest" has made Fin $5,000 lighter as the NFL fined him and Derrick Mason for their extra-curricular activities last Sunday. I'm thinking Cortland will be able to give it up much easier than Mase. ( LINK)

Anyone else experiencing the Bye Week Blues? I know the team needed the downtime to heal but being the selfish coot I am, I want more of what has been an outstanding start to the season.

At least it doesn't sound like 5-0 has created any big heads over at Baptist Sports Park. "We're by no means where we should be as a football team. But in the meantime the bye is designed to get better, take care of yourself, rest up, make good decisions while you're gone and come back ready to win the next ball game. In the back of your mind, the most important thing should be win No. 6," Coach Jeff Fisher said. ( LINK) Gotta like the attitude.

It appears fourth-round draft pick Lavelle Hawkins continues to make too many mistakes to be trusted to play on gameday. ( LINK) With all the hype he generated during the preseason, many fans hoped he would be pushing to start in the slot by now. Let's hope he doesn't have a case of the "Ben Troupe" and gets on the field soon.

Anyone hearing ANYTHING about Paul Williams' development? Me either. Shouldn't we be?

Gotta love Fisher's reaction when asked about Pacman's latest scuffle. "...that doesn’t affect us. We’ve moved on and that’s their issue," said Fisher. ( LINK) Think Fisher didn't get a few laughs behind closed doors when he heard about it?

We don't want NFL Commish Roger Goodell to suspend Jones as the Titans get a sixth-round pick next year if Pac survives. If he is given the boot, the Titans give up a fifth.

I only care for a few of the national media types and one of them is ESPN's Tom Jackson who recently came to town to talk to the Titans D-line. "They have come together almost like a perfect storm," said Jackson. "Tony came in when Albert was having problems a few years back. Kyle was brought in when Arizona gave up on him, and Jevon seems so focused on helping this team after being overwhelmed by the expectations in Philly. And then there's Haynesworth, who is an amazing player. It's a special group, and if they stay healthy, they are going to get close." ( LINK)

"Close" means Super Bowl XLII. I knew I liked Jackson for a reason.
