NFL Pick'em: Week 6
Tyler Dalton
Oct 10, 2008

The two teams that have really irritated me are the Packers and the Falcons. The Falcons have really been a surprise team this year and the Packers, well, I expected more. I’m currently 5-0 when picking the spread of the Titans but they have a bye this week. The Chargers really need to get it together just like the Packers. The Giants have become a high powered offense even though they played against the Seahawks. So lets get to week 6.

Last week results: 9-5
Overall: 40-34

Oakland at New Orleans (-7.5) 10/12 1:00 ET
It’s evident that the Saints will air the ball out every game.  So when they play the Raiders I expect the same.  Coming into the season I thought the Raiders defense would be pretty good but that’s not going to happen.  Raiders are dismal.
Pick:

Baltimore at Indianapolis (-4.5) 10/12 1:00 ET
I believe that the Colts offense will start to get back on pace.  However, their offense ranks at the bottom in the NFL.  So when the Ravens use McClain and McGahee that won’t work out very well for the Colts.  I was very impressed with Flacco and think he’ll have a good game.  Ravens should be able to hold the Colts offense.
Pick:

Cincinnati at NY Jets (-6) 10/12 1:00 ET
The Bengals came so close to potentially defeating the Cowboys.  So either the Bengals will come out with more confidence or they have an emotional breakdown.  Considering it’s the Bengals I have to go with the latter.  Still a little worried about Favre but against the Bengals defense he shouldn’t have a problem.
Pick:

Carolina at Tampa Bay (-1.5) 10/12 1:00 ET
This is a big game to determine the NFC South.  Both of these teams are evenly matched.  I’m going with the Panthers though for one reason.  I have more faith in the QB play of Delhomme than whoever starts for the Buccaneers this week.
Pick:

Detroit at Minnesota (-13.5)
10/12 1:00 ET
Monday Night Football was an ugly win for the Vikings.  The Saints pretty much shot themselves in the foot.  This shouldn’t be taken very serious this week since they play the Lions.  I really like Calvin Johnson but has no one to throw him the ball.  Vikings defense should tear up the terrible Lions offensive line.
Pick:

Chicago (-2.5) at Atlanta 10/12 1:00 ET
Even though I’m slowly getting on the Falcons bandwagon I’m just going to pause where I am this week.  The Bears have a very good defense and good QB play with Orton.  I haven’t watched the Falcons defense closely yet so I really can’t pick the Falcons this week.  The Bears is a safer pick.
Pick:

Miami at Houston (-3) 10/12 1:00 ET
Well did anyone think the Texans would be at this point in the season without a win?  This week they play the Dolphins.  I really like Ronnie Brown and how the Dolphins have been playing this year.  So shocking to some I’m going with the Dolphins.
Pick:

St. Louis at Washington (-13.5) 10/12 1:00 ET
The Redskins have been very kind to me this year.  The Skins beat the spread in two key games this year (Dallas and Philly).  This is the same offense Campbell used at Auburn so he’s really benefited from the playbook this year.  I really think the Skins can be a major contender this year and this game just pads their stats.
Pick:

Jacksonville at Denver (-3.5) 10/12 4:05 ET
I’m a huge Jay Cutler fan.  I really like him when he was at Vanderbilt, the college, not so much.  I haven’t really bought into the Jags yet, actually, anyone in the AFC South except the Titans.  I’m going with the Denver offense at home.
Pick:

Philadelphia (-3) at San Francisco 10/12 4:15 ET
The Eagles are going to win this game if Westbrook plays or not.  If Westbrook does play it gives them a huge advantage.  Reports say that Westbrook will play so I’m going with the Eagles.
Pick:

Dallas (-5) at Arizona 10/12 4:15 ET
The Cowboys offense should out perform the Cardinals defense this week.  Romo, Owens, Barber, Witten, and the rest of the cast can’t be contained, especially after their poor showing last week.
Pick:

Green Bay at Seattle (-2) 10/12 4:15 ET
The Packers are going to bounce back this week.  I really like the Packers defense against the injured Seahawks offense.  Ryan Grant has to eventually have a break out game and it might be this week.
Pick:

New England at San Diego (-6) 10/12 8:15 ET
Should we be impressed with the Pats win over the 49ers?  I’m not buying into the Pats just yet.  This was supposed to be a big match up, just like that USC vs. Ohio St. game.  Wow things change quickly.  I’m going to go with the Pats because last weeks loss to the Dolphins was pretty bad for the Chargers.
Pick:

NY Giants (-8) at Cleveland 10/13 8:35 ET
Giants are the best team in football.  Eli is now an elite QB and the offense gets back Burress this week.  The Brady chants will begin soon in Cleveland.  Cleveland has no chance.
Pick:
