Titans Insider: Rolle: Football is not out of my system
Today 10:20 AM
Most would agree Titans rookie safety Myron Rolle has a bright future after football.
Remember, this is the same guy who spent last year studying at Oxford as a Rhodes Scholar recipient.
But Rolle said he’s not ready to make post-football plans yet.
“Football is not out of my system. I am glad I made the decision to turn back to football after taking a year. This experience has been tremendous,’’ said Rolle, a sixth round draft pick by the Titans. “I have enjoyed learning from the veterans and competing, and challenging myself every day, knowing that I have to go out on the field every day and prove my worth and prove that I can be a significant member of this team and that is something that I didn’t experience in college.
“In college I was a No.1 player in high school, came in and started right away as a true freshman and didn’t really look back after that. Here I started at the bottom looking up and you get to admire some of these older guys and you also get to compare and compete as well and that has been a lot of fun.’’
With roster cuts coming Saturday, Rolle could be in trouble, though.
He hasn’t stood out in practices and games as he’s tried to get re-adjusted to the game, in the NFL.
So what happens if he gets released and is invited back on the team’s practice squad?
“Absolutely, certainly I’d do it,’’ Rolle said. “I’d have no problem, no qualms with it. I am enjoying Nashville and enjoying this organization. Wherever they see me fit, that’s what we’ll do.’’
But Rolle said he won’t spend the next 48 hours sweating it.
He’ll play in the team’s final preseason game against the Saints on Thursday night.
“I stay sane by reading my Bible and putting things in God’s hands,’’ Rolle said. “He has taken care of me for 23 years and hopefully He’ll do the same this week. That’s the way you have to approach it. If you don’t you’ll drive yourself crazy and you won’t be able to sleep and night and you won’t perform when it is time to.’’
