I doubt that chart will be valid this year with 3 franchise players at the top. We should be getting premium value for the #3 pick.

I agree. I think most felt last year it was over-inflated with the early picks.

I could see another team who's pretty well stocked but wants one of the top 3 picks could trade an entire draft to us in exchage for #3.

For example, the value stated for the 8th pick in every round is worth 2290.

Would you like 8th overall and extra pick in every round in exchange for #3? Maybe spread it over a few years?

The chart shows a numerical value for each pick. Hypothetically if you wanted to trade picks you would look for a trade that added up to an equal amount of points. For example the 16th pick in the 1st is worth 1000 points. An equal value for that pick would be the 23rd and the 70th picks.

And take this chart with a grain of salt. I think the top picks will have a lot more value than when they would have last year.

In theory that might be true but if I'm Reese I'm not sure I would insist on it to make a trade. For example, if we trade down to #9 we would need the Lions complete draft just to meet the chart value. If we were offered just the Lions 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th picks I would have to consider it IMO.

The Titans very well haved a choice on who they draft. There is and always will be a great possiblity of a trade down if the player the Titans want isnt there. With a Franchise OT, it wouldnt suprise me one bit if the Titans took Da Brick at #3 if Young or Bush werent there(That said, all signs point to one of them being at the #3 pick)

Accourding to this chart we got a middle of the pack #4 for McNair and Volek. :suspect:

It is interesting and assuming the league goes by similar parameters we can see why trading down is difficult. Would you give up a whole draft for the #3 pick? According to this chart a team picking 30th would have to do just that. A team picking 30th-60th-90th-120th would have the equal value in those 4 picks to the 13th pick.

I don't see anyone ever doing that.

Good GMs(polian-newsome) seem to do fine with late picks. Look at addai perhaps the best back taken in the last 2 drafts. And he was considered a reach!

We will be drafting 19th so to move up to say 14th will require our 3rd rd pick minimum. Anything above 13th will require more. I think this is a prime year for us to trade up.

For what its worth, before Reese left, he did say this year they were going for quality over quantity. I was hoping to trade up and get rid of some of those extra picks.

If I'm reading this chart correctly, it looks like our 3rd, 4th, 5th round picks combined would be worth around 240 points.

I wouldn't mind seeing us trade those 3 picks to move up, looks like we could have around the 5th pick in the 3rd round with those trades. Doesn't seem like a big move up (about 20 overall spots), but if someone slips that we want, I'd like to see us be proactive this year.

Wonder if we could move up further if we traded our 3rd,4th,5th and the rights to Pacman? If it would move us into the mid second round, at this point, I would love that deal.
