View Full Version : 2nd round choice
TANK CALICO 01-10-2006, 02:57 PM Whats up guys? It has been a long time since i last posted, im going try to stay more involved in this forum. Since all the talk has been about who we take in the 1st round, i was curious to see who you guys might want us to take in the 2nd round considering we can get a quality starter for years to come with this pick.
with the 3rd pick in the 2006 nfl draft the tennessee titans select Vince Young QB University of Texas
bigtitan53279 01-10-2006, 03:05 PM i would kill for a guard like max gean jiles from UGA or tatsui latui from USC. we need some maulers up front.
TANK CALICO 01-10-2006, 03:09 PM Good choices. I wouldnt mind seeing some safety help there also maybe Darnell Bing if he will slip to the 2nd
THE53 01-10-2006, 03:48 PM I think that a lineman would be nice, but we gotta go with a linebacker. Last year the Bengals, Seahawks, and Dolphins all got stud linebackers in the second round (Odell Thurman, Lofa Tatupa, Channing Crowder), and this years linebacker class is considered better than last years...
Jwill1919 01-10-2006, 04:04 PM I agree with the linebacker choice. We need a thug.
thnom 01-10-2006, 04:09 PM I wouldn't mind taking a RB who's dropped.
Titanpride 01-10-2006, 04:23 PM Paul Posluzny ( MLB from Penn State ) or Michael Bush ( RB from Louisville ).

Soxcat 01-10-2006, 04:23 PM Best of these three postions, LB, S or OL.
We don't have the luxury of drafting a RB with all the holes to fill.
Hopefully we can sign Henry to a reduced deal and grab a sleeper RB later in the draft.
JMB54 01-10-2006, 04:31 PM I have to go with Soxcat on this one. I'd like to see either a LB or safety.
Paul Posluzny ( MLB from Penn State )
Nice choice
however, i don't think he's declared
danny 01-10-2006, 04:37 PM Paul Posluzny ( MLB from Penn State ) or Michael Bush ( RB from Louisville ).
Posluzny (if that's how it's spelled) is staying in school. I'd take Ernie Sims (LB) Florida State. I saw a write up on him in the Sporting News where one scout said they'd start a defense with him, largely because of his general dislike for the other team. The Titans need more guys like that.
Titanpride 01-10-2006, 04:46 PM Manny Lawson ( DE from North Carolina State ) and move him to a LB spot.
Ratt1118 01-10-2006, 05:37 PM Great Post...
I believe that the 2nd round pick will be just as much an integral part of the process as much as the first pick...
Also, IMO, coach Fish will want to leave Tenn if he does not do well this 06 season. I think he has had enough of the foolishness that is going on in the organization. You can really see it in his body language the last game of the season...
That said, I agree with everybody else, Safety, LB and OL.
Geez there is just so much ground to cover before training camp...:sad2:
SuperTitan 01-10-2006, 06:01 PM Paul Posluzny ( MLB from Penn State ) or Michael Bush ( RB from Louisville ).

Has Michael Bush decided to declare for the draft? If so, I think he is a great second round pick.
vnomus2 01-10-2006, 06:30 PM If the Titans do go with a QB in the first round. I think they have to go either LB or S in round 2
OSUBuckeyesEG27 01-10-2006, 07:18 PM either a LB or S, im biased but i would love the Titans to pick up Donte Whitner from OSU at S......is fast and is very good in Coverage and hardly ever misses a tackle, and he can spot out a screen play from a mile away lol
**he reminds me of Bob Sanders**
Gunny 01-10-2006, 07:34 PM is he 3`4 as well?
TANK CALICO 01-10-2006, 07:35 PM Just another name to throw out there and he very easily could still be around at this point is andrew whitworth. This would wrap up the oline for a few years excluding that hartwig stays. by the way isnt his agent rosenhaus by the way?
Gunny 01-10-2006, 07:38 PM Hatwigs agent is Rosenhaus.
OSUBuckeyesEG27 01-10-2006, 07:41 PM is he 3`4 as well?
actually hes 3'7
Gunny 01-10-2006, 07:47 PM :ha:
Titanpride 01-10-2006, 09:17 PM Posluzny (if that's how it's spelled) is staying in school. I'd take Ernie Sims (LB) Florida State. I saw a write up on him in the Sporting News where one scout said they'd start a defense with him, largely because of his general dislike for the other team. The Titans need more guys like that.I forgot about his Knee injury being a factor in his decision.
Titanpride 01-10-2006, 09:47 PM Resource: NLS
- MICHAEL BUSH (Louisville)… might not be the next "Big" thing, but he is most certainly the next "BIG" back… an extraordinary athlete with a rare combination of size, speed and vision… a former high school quarterback now carries a 250-pound frame with the dexterity of a player 50 pounds lighter… an absolute beast when it comes to tackling him, he's able to run through most defenders and has shown the balance to break free for long gains after initial contact… roughly 6020, 248-255 pounds… has been timed in the 4.50 range in the 40... playing in a passer-friendly offense, but may be inclined to return since he has a strong sense of team and leadership… has also been battling some late-season injuries…
Titans2008 01-10-2006, 09:54 PM 1. Jason Allen
2. Max Gean Jiles
3. Any of the many tackles that are projected as 1st round picks that may slip.
4. Omar Jacobs (if we don't take Young)
no way Omar makes it to round 4
Titans2004 01-10-2006, 11:00 PM He was listing who he would take in the 2nd rnd. It was a list of 1st-4th rnd choices.
Manny Lawson will not be available. He is going to be the Demarcus Ware of this draft. He will blow people away with his combine and be taken in the top half of the 1st rnd.
Who we take in the 2nd will be directly related to who we take in FA.
PaCmAn 4 MvP32 01-10-2006, 11:18 PM I agree, but Jason Allen is skeptical, he didn't play all year
Titans2008 01-11-2006, 02:00 AM I agree, but Jason Allen is skeptical, he didn't play all year
Which is also the only reason he makes it out of the top 15 selections. The dude can play corner and safety. He led the entire SEC in tackles as a junior from the safety position on one of the best defenses in the nation. He is big and has 4.45 speed. His only question mark is the injury he had this year, but keep in mind that this is the first time he has been hurt.
Carpy 01-11-2006, 02:51 AM Greg Blue, S, Georgia
Banshee2 01-11-2006, 04:48 AM I'd like one of the linebackers from Iowa...Greenway or Hodge (provided one drops to the high second round)
bulluck4dMVP 01-11-2006, 05:52 AM LenDale White is set to declare today if i remember right
...but i don't think he'll last out of the first round, especially with a good combine showing...
maximus 01-11-2006, 07:42 AM 1. Jason Allen
2. Max Gean Jiles
3. Any of the many tackles that are projected as 1st round picks that may slip.
4. Omar Jacobs (if we don't take Young)
Jason Allen could fall a lot farther than the second round. That hip injury was thought (maybe still is) to be career threatening. Omar Jacobs would be a good pick, as would Max Jean Giles or a tackle, though
Soxcat 01-11-2006, 07:59 AM We don't have a 3rd round pick either so that makes the 2nd round pick even more critical. I could see Reese trading down in the 2nd if he can ge an extra pick.
bigtitan53279 01-11-2006, 08:02 AM no way Omar makes it to round 4
thats his fourth option.
I badly want Vince Young to be our first rounder
Order of who I want in round two...
1. Laron Landry S LSU
2. Demeco Ryans OLB ALA
3. Bobby Carpenter OLB OSU
4. Jason Allen S TENN
5. Thomas Howard OLB UTEP (4.44 speed!!!)
I know some of those may not be there, but who would have thought Boss Bailey would have fell to the Lions in their third spot in the second round a couple years ago???
Soxcat 01-11-2006, 10:21 AM Certainly any on that list would be helpfull (except Allen who has health issues). We could easily have a shot a one of the real good OTs or a guy like Jiles.
The one postion change that wold help the most is to find a replacement for our DC.
Titanpride 01-11-2006, 11:45 AM LenDale White is set to declare today if i remember right
...but i don't think he'll last out of the first round, especially with a good combine showing...Greenbay is making a statement that they plan on taking White with their 5th over-all pick... nothing solid, and I'm not sure how much legs that has, but interesting.
Titans2008 01-11-2006, 12:06 PM Jason Allen could fall a lot farther than the second round. That hip injury was thought (maybe still is) to be career threatening. Omar Jacobs would be a good pick, as would Max Jean Giles or a tackle, though
Career threatening ??? That is the first I've heard of that. I would like to see your source. If that's true, we should probably pass in the 2nd...
From what I've read about it, there was a small chance he might be able to return for the bowl game this year, which didn't really strike me as being in the category of "career threatening". Plus, he was still rated as a borderline 1st rounder by most sites after his injury. I doubt that would be true if it was indeed career threatening.
What I've read is Allen's had the ok to start his rehab. He won't be ready to run until UT's Pro Day, after the combine. Good thing UT has a fast track :winker:
DeutschTitan 01-11-2006, 04:22 PM We need a thumper in the middle and Abdul Hodge would be awsome to aquire. If he's gone, Tatsui Latui(however you spell it), would be a good one or Max-Gean and of course one of the top safeties.
PhiSlammaJamma 01-13-2006, 02:20 PM I'm a big believer in drafting anyone holding up a trophy. Especially if he is a linebacker.
