No other way to put it. A huge, monumental Egg. Perhaps the biggest favorites to win it all in years and Manning and Co. blow it. Even with a gift by the refs.

FightinTitan 01-15-2006, 04:28 PM Seems Like Old Times http://www.cpfeifer.org/archives/choking-old.jpg Puck 01-15-2006, 04:28 PM I guess the ad for the Colts SuperBowl package can be removed now VolnTitan 01-15-2006, 04:30 PM Loved Peyton the UT player, but love seeing Peyton, the Colt, lose. Can say what you want, but Titans still the only team in the AFC South to see the big game in the modern era. Can say what you want, but Titans still the only team in the AFC South to see the big game in the modern era. I just wonder where ALL of the choke fans are now? Toly 01-15-2006, 04:38 PM Watching the Colts lose in the playoffs... priceless. Hoffa 01-15-2006, 04:39 PM I feel bad for Dungy, not for Manning and Co. though! Yeah, Manning humiliates him by vetoing his call, and they still lose. Gunny 01-15-2006, 04:51 PM Manning gonna be crying in Kenny's arms tonight. KobeChaz 01-15-2006, 04:58 PM Yeah, Manning humiliates him by vetoing his call, and they still lose. Yea, what the hell was that? Coach says punt, Manning starts waving the punt team off the field and starts beating on his helmet for someone to call a play. Dungy should have went out there and drug him off the field by his facemask. Then on Polamalu's Int., the ref say's,"the player lost the ball BEFORE he got his knee off the ground". HUH? I have played and been around football my entire life, and have never heard of such a stupid explanation for an incomplete pass. Oh well, what a great weekend. First, The Almighty Dynasty loses. Then, we get to see the huge favorites that could have went undefeated this season lose in their first playoff game. Just as someone posted earlier in the thread....PRICELESS!!!!!!!!! smili 01-15-2006, 05:00 PM Bad Karma coming back for taking a knee and faking end of half and then running back out to try to run another play against the Titans. You're right - those kind of calls make folks believe in conspiracy theories. Gunny 01-15-2006, 05:04 PM I feel bad for Dungy, not for Manning and Co. though! I would like to see Dungy with a re-building/not good team. I suspect he could be over-rated. Laserjock 01-15-2006, 05:11 PM Steeler's defense played very well...though the offense became way too conservative in the 2nd half...looked like the Titans just trying not to lose. Bettis is too much of a vet to go into that line in the 4th with one hand on the ball...stupid...he should be putting a huge check in the offering plate for getting bailed out of that bonehead play. On the other hand...there is NOONE I am more happy to see almost in tears over CHOKING BIG TIME than VANDERJERK. I hate the guy...he is too ****y to be a kicker. Last person I want to see on any team walking like he is hot crap is a kicker...especially the barmaid's friend VanderJERK. So...Colts have a great year...happy for Dungy because I really do like and respect that guy...but guess what. We all get to watch the Superbowl from home here and in Indy.....except we at least get to savour that 3rd pick overall.... smili 01-15-2006, 05:13 PM Yeah, Manning humiliates him by vetoing his call, and they still lose. Dungy after the game in interview said he was going for it and they were telling Peyton in the headset --> that's why Peyton waived them off. Dungy said the Punt team ran on the field too quickly. Gunny 01-15-2006, 05:15 PM saving face. $10 says there is a talking to from Dungy to Manning in private. KobeChaz 01-15-2006, 05:21 PM Dungy after the game in interview said he was going for it and they were telling Peyton in the headset --> that's why Peyton waived them off. Dungy said the Punt team ran on the field too quickly. B.S. That's called Damage Control! It really is not that important. What is important, is that Peyton chokes once again. RollTide 01-15-2006, 05:59 PM The one player on that team who didn't choke today was peyton manning. Manning doesn't kick, he doesn't play defense and i could be wrong but i don't think he plays on the offensive line. he had little running game to work with either. Still he managed 290 yards passing with a 90 passing rating. He got his team in position to tie and his moron kicker couldn't make a kick he had been making all year. Not a single miss at home but he shanks it when it counts the most. Being a fan of the tennessee titans i don't fee like puffing my cheat out and acting big because a far far superior team happened to lose a game. The colts beat us like a step child this year and the titans are one of the absolute worst teams in football the last 2 seasons. Be proud of that. Hoffa 01-15-2006, 06:06 PM As bad as the Titans were this year, they won the same number of playoff games as the Colts, lead by the King of Choker Manning. I'm enjoying it, if you can't, don't pee on our parade. IndyTitan 01-15-2006, 06:07 PM The city be in depression for the next month. Perhaps until the NFL draft. Toly 01-15-2006, 06:07 PM I would like to see Dungy with a re-building/not good team. I suspect he could be over-rated. Well, the Bucs weren't exactly a good team when he took over as the coach. Hoffa 01-15-2006, 06:08 PM The city be in depression for the next month. Perhaps until the NFL draft. Annual event... TitanJeff 01-15-2006, 06:08 PM I'm sure it feels a lot like it did here after the Titans blew it in 2000. I still get sick when I think of that. Hoffa 01-15-2006, 06:09 PM Well, the Bucs weren't exactly a good team when he took over as the coach. Bucs never won a playoff game with Dungy, and if it weren't for the Broncos he wouldn't have any playoff wins. Ironic that the Broncos are now hosting the AFC Championship game. Bucs won a wild card game in '97 - first time since the 70s or something like that, and won another one in '99 or '00 before losing to the Rams in the NFC Championship game. Hoffa 01-15-2006, 06:31 PM that off season the competition committee went back and changed the rule. My bad...but that sounds familiar, a rule change after a post season loss by Dungy..hmmm:winker: Dungy is 4-8 in the post season. Not a single miss at home but he shanks it when it counts the most. Manning didn't choke? Well, what do you call losing a game that your a fairly large favorite in at home? In this particular case, stats mean absolutely nothing. So the liquored-up kicker choked also. That does not mean Peyton didn't choke. Peyton gets all the credit when the Colts go undefeated 3/4 of the season. NONSENSE!!! :ha: VolnTitan 01-15-2006, 07:08 PM The whole team blew it, including Manning. Manning certainly didn't have a good day overthrowing WR and throwing what should have been a Int. smili 01-15-2006, 08:10 PM I'm sure it feels a lot like it did here after the Titans blew it in 2000. I still get sick when I think of that. That's sortof what I was thinking - except the Titans dominated that game vs. Ravens except on scoreboard. I didn't think the Colts really played well enough to win today. Everything was aligned for Titans that year like things for Colts this year. You can't hold teams like that together for long - the window of opportunity. GoT 01-15-2006, 08:38 PM Yeah, Manning humiliates him by vetoing his call, and they still lose. that's why I call Dungy the Castrated One. AFC46 01-15-2006, 08:52 PM Manning didn't choke? Whether we are 4-12 or going to the Superbowl! True that! Nash 01-15-2006, 09:04 PM Thinking about the Steeler defense, they rushed 5 or 6 to get pressure, they had superb safety play.. Canadian Titan 01-15-2006, 09:06 PM Yeah, Manning humiliates him by vetoing his call, and they still lose. Funny thing is with that, they asked Dungy after the game, if Manning made his own decision with the 4th down, Dungy's like NOO, I told him to go for it too, it was my call, hahahah yeah right, Manning took the team over from the coach. moose4now 01-15-2006, 09:23 PM No other way to put it. That may have been the worst (replay assisted, at that ) call I've ever seen. :sad2: But, it just doesn't matter. Because not only is Manning a choker, he may have lost his entire team by ripping his "protection." :ha: Good luck next year Peyton. :ha: GoT 01-15-2006, 09:24 PM Could his mouth have just bought him the Shuler treatment? Recovering from a five-day, white-lightning blackout...>:( I'll say it (not that you need my confirmation), Peyton, and that entire team (except for a couple guys on defense and Reggie Wayne) choked like this guy: http://eserver.org/fiction/occurrence-at-owl-creek.html (Don't worry, it is a solid link to a short story by Ambrose Bierce about the hanging of a Confederate soldier. Shockingly, the soldiers name is Peyton.) Jeff, I think you compared this loss for Colts fans to the Titans loss to the Ravens several years ago. Well, if it felt this poorly for you, then you have my sympathies. And congrats, Titan fans. You were right, I was wrong. This most certainly was not the Colts' year. Unless it was the Colts' year to make their opponents' fans happy and break their own fans' hearts. TitanJeff 01-21-2006, 10:01 AM Jeff, I think you compared this loss for Colts fans to the Titans loss to the Ravens several years ago. Well, if it felt this poorly for you, then you have my sympathies. Yup. Except I think it was worse. We dominated the Ravens that day statistically. A meltdown by Del Greco and some hands of stone by Eddie George gave the Ravens all they needed. Then we had to watch the Ravens take it the rest of the way. If the Steelers do that as well, it'll just make it worse. I think the Titans would have gone all the way if they'd gotten past the Ravens. |
