View Full Version : The Calico Experiment ends after '06?
TitanJeff 03-13-2006, 07:50 PM Whether or not the Titans sign Givens, it says a lot about the faith the team has that Calico will ever become a #1 or even take a lot of pressure off Bennett as a #2. With Roby, Williams and Jones all ready to come into their own by '07, it doesn't appear likely the Titans have Calico in their free agency plans.
If Givens becomes the Titans #1, Calico will be lucky to be the #3.
Gunny 03-13-2006, 07:53 PM I think it could be between Calico and Bennett, whoever performs the other says bye bye.
Banshee2 03-13-2006, 07:53 PM I think you're right; Calico will have to go nuts this season to get a nice second tour contract...
Laserjock 03-13-2006, 08:12 PM I wanted to believe Calico would come back...but he ran like Pickens last year...just too slow. I just don't believe he will ever get back to the form they need from him.
If he makes it and stays this year I am guessing it may be his last as a Titan.
TNTitansGlory 03-13-2006, 08:32 PM What a bust Calico is... I had such of high hopes in him... He kind of reminds me of Chris Sanders... A few flashes at first....that's it!
PhiSlammaJamma 03-13-2006, 09:15 PM I think Chris Sanders was better personally. I can't remember one play Calico has made.
Gunny 03-13-2006, 09:15 PM I think Chris Sanders was better personally.
Isnt that scary.
His rookie year he got a few TDs cause they were actually taking advantage of his stature near the goalline. Had red zone TDs in first two games of 2003. Then Heimeidneinger went all Steckel and used Calico less cause he was a rookie.
Soxcat 03-14-2006, 08:01 AM Calico still has this year to prove something and he might very well do it. Until his freak injury he looked to be making huge progress but injuring both knees is hard to overcome in one year. This year he should be 100% and might surprise us.
Gunny 03-14-2006, 08:09 AM This year he should be 100% and might surprise us.
Lets hope so.
Riverman 03-14-2006, 08:44 AM Bad hands, Bum wheels. Bye bye bust bust.
Witherpd 03-14-2006, 08:49 AM He made an impressive catch against the Dolphins in the scrimmage... :sad2:
Starkiller 03-14-2006, 10:16 AM He's got one more shot to prove himself.
Just remember, the Cardinals thought KVB was a bust after 2 torn ACLs and let him walk for nothing...

Honestly, I hope he does. I'm not worried about his legs as much I am about his seemingly incurable drops. I believe his leg injury severely set back any progress that could have been made with his hands.
RollTide 03-14-2006, 11:32 AM One guy has been a solid producer and the other hasn't done a thing. The injuries can be blamed but that is fact. Anyone who watched calico play last year shouldn't even be having this discussion. I'm wondering if he can ever be a decent #3. Number one? Maybe he can emerge from his injury like kvb did but he has never been able to catch the ball consistently. Imagine of we had taken joson whitten instead of him.
It's bennett and givens with the kids behind them. Whatever we get from calico is gravy in my opinion.

^this is what reading a Calico thread is like.
I'm with all of 'yall. Basically, the Titans were shortchanged with Calico.
Maybe he will turn it around. I doubt it.
I like Woolfolk's chances at redemption a whole lot better.
Soxcat 03-14-2006, 12:06 PM Everyone keeps forgetting that Calico was coming off major knee surgery last year and it wasn't his fault he got injured on a freak play. If he can pick up where he left off before the injury he could be a great slot WR that defenses will have a hard time stopping. Bennett in some ways is as much on the bubble after this year IMO. His contract runs out after 2006. If Calico shows improvement along with the other young guys Bennett might not be worth a big contract.
it wasn't his fault he got injured on a freak play.
I agree
I blame Heimeigndkfjder for running a reverse in a preseason game.
Anyone remember the last time the Titans ran a reverse in the regular or post-season?
Heimeinsdfeer O gets people killed. He don't care about it cause it ain't his Wide Load doing the rehabbing. All Heimersfsdfer cares about is becomming a HC.

He couldn't catch before the injury.

:suspect:

I think some of the blame goes to "Horse-collar" Williams, too:grrr:
super_titan 03-14-2006, 07:40 PM Calico = big fast tall guy trying to play WR.
He isnt a Football guy never was.
FLTitansfan 03-14-2006, 08:00 PM he was my favorite pick and his rook season he was physical especially around the end zone then he disappeared i know his hands are suspect if he can somehow find his speed as well as his hands we'll look back at this thread and be like thank god this didnt come true but if he is still as inconsistent we'll say TJ and the rest are nostradamus lol. I hope the latter isnt true just for the sake of the titans another solid receiving corp like the run and shoot days with better running back and actual TE's and this O would be bad ***** but I know those are big dreams.
CanadaTitan 03-14-2006, 08:16 PM hell make all u eat your words u can count on that i think its his last chance so he wants to make a lasting impression on this team. he will step up
GLinks 03-14-2006, 10:16 PM I'd like to believe that, too. The coaches have got to be getting to the end of their rope, but they are fair, and understand at this point surely they allowed him to come back to soon from the ACL. If they like what they see out of the crop this year, and Calico does decent, say around 500-700 yards and a few TDs, I can see them giving him a one year agreement to turn it around, at a low price. He'd have to understand he's not going to get much with the type of production he's shown since the 1st few games of his rookie season.
Tackhead #9 03-14-2006, 11:11 PM So, am I the only one who wants him to succeed specifically because his name sounds kickass? I mean, just look at it. Tyrone Calico. ...Calicooooooo!!!
Additionally, I named my Animal Crossing town Calicove, and I'd look quite the fool if my town was founded by a bust.
Yeah, my reasons are stupid, but I want Calico to succeed all the same. Kinda hard in the current rotation, though...
TNTitansGlory 03-14-2006, 11:30 PM Calico only looked good in the paper before the draft. But I hope he proves me wrong this season...
Gunny 03-15-2006, 12:28 AM We all want Calico to succeed, just don't think it is likely.
