View Full Version : Best RB in the Division?
SwingOnDeezBalz 04-23-2006, 12:58 PM Will it now be Reggie Bush?
It aint Rhodes, it aint Brown, and it aint Fred "I sneezed and separated my shoulder" Taylor.
Interesting to think about.
Banshee2 04-23-2006, 01:45 PM Bush will have to be on the field for a significant amount of snaps for that to be so...It may very well come down to who can stay healthy. Seems like a lot of teams are going to the two-back system
bulluck4dMVP 04-23-2006, 01:47 PM exactly banshee.......
indy-dom rhodes and a rookie
houston-dom davis and most likely bush
jacksonville-fred taylor, greg jones, and alvin pearman
tennessee-chris brown and travis henry
Banshee2 04-23-2006, 01:51 PM I think that Houston HAS to draft Bush, and he'll HAVE to play to justify the amount of coin he's going to demand/deserve...So maybe he will be the best RB. Of course, considering he hasn't played a down in the NFL yet, who can say for sure?
Overalls 04-23-2006, 02:23 PM Houston already has a better back than the Brown/Henry twosome. He is already better than Rhodes and if Taylor doesn't pick it back up, Davis is better than him too.
Tonye209 04-23-2006, 02:36 PM thats funny How u say Bush is going to be the best rb in our Division...that might not happen WITH THE TEXANS OL....im predict that Bush is going have problems with injuries
rcarie 04-23-2006, 04:07 PM Yeah, with an Oline like Houstons I'd be surprised if Bush doesn't struggle quite a bit this first year.
LazyManJackson 04-23-2006, 04:22 PM I'll be suprised if the Texans pick Bush, let alone if their offensive line will hold up O.K
ammotroop 04-23-2006, 05:30 PM I think the best RB in the division is in our backfield. Which one will step up is the question. You may think I am crazy, but if Henry takes this off season serious and gets back into Pro Bowl form, watch out....
GoTitans3801 04-23-2006, 06:08 PM I think at this point, with Edge gone, it probably is DD. Whether or not he will be the best producer this year is a big question. I think our duo has great potential, if they'll ever live up to it, I don't know. I hope one of them comes out strong this year, and I'd prefer henry. I do think that requires significant improvement in our Oline though.
CanadaTitan 04-23-2006, 06:08 PM Well if we look at pro bowls and what not its a toss up between Henry and Taylor but Davis is a good back and Brown is talented hes just too fragile
PhiSlammaJamma 04-23-2006, 06:47 PM The Texans screen blocking should be wicked. Bush gets my vote. He'll be a Marshall Faulk type eating up yards.
Banshee2 04-23-2006, 06:54 PM "when healthy" is the operative term. When healthy, CB is a 1200 yds a year back. When healthy, Fred Taylor is a ProBowler. When healthy, Steve Mac is a top ten QB...The list goes on. Scary label, "when healthy"
All things equal, DD is probably has the most chance for success: he's had 1000 yd seasons even WITH Houston's OL.
Gunny 04-23-2006, 08:29 PM Bush isn't in the NFL yet, let alone the AFC South.
I would say Dom Davis is the best, he does a lot more with a melted butter called an O-Line.
Rumor is that the Colts may get Thomas Jones in a trade.
metal957 04-23-2006, 11:17 PM There is no competition here Davis is the best by and far
Starkiller 04-23-2006, 11:54 PM Whoever is starting in Houston this year probably wins this one.
Too bad they haven't got a QB or OLine...
LazyManJackson 04-24-2006, 10:42 AM Don't rule out Travis ''I do drugs who cares'' Henry too early....................
Starkiller 04-24-2006, 11:38 AM Why not? He isn't even a starter...
DD is the best back in the division...guy's a stud, and he can do it all. This will be a great help to Bush...it may buy him some time before he's expected to be everything to everyone.
Interestingly enough, Houston's O-line isn't that bad in run support; for the last couple years, the Texans' RB's have averaged right around 4 ypc...even the #2 and #3 guys. However, they're absolutely dismal in pass protection, which kills the overall effectiveness of their offense. But they're not bad on the ground. (In fact, for the last few years, the Texans have actually had a higher ypc than the Titans.)
TitanJeff 04-24-2006, 01:08 PM DD eats the Titans alive. The Texans will run the fool out of screens on the Titans for the next decade if they have both Bush and Davis.
Houston already has a better back than the Brown/Henry twosome. He is already better than Rhodes and if Taylor doesn't pick it back up, Davis is better than him too.
First - Moo!
That might mean something if the OL was not nicknamed Jermaine, Jackie, Tito, Marlon and Michael
Overalls 04-24-2006, 02:46 PM First - Moo!
That might mean something if the OL was not nicknamed Jermaine, Jackie, Tito, Marlon and Michael
So, since the Texans averaged 113.5 rushing yards per game and the Titans averaged 95.3 rushing yards per game that would make your O-line Sporty, Scary, Baby, and Posh. Check your CD collection for the name of the other Spice Girl for center GeT
Starkiller 04-24-2006, 06:52 PM Sacks Allowed:
Tennessee - 31
Houston -68
I guess the Spice Girls are better pass blockers than the Jackson 5. Who knew?
really amazing considering there are only 4 spice girls and they do not have a low center of gravity. My thinking is that Michael was getting abused on the edge for the cows
Starkiller 04-24-2006, 07:27 PM I think the problem is that they have LaToya starting at left tackle...
maximus 04-24-2006, 09:25 PM DD eats the Titans alive. The Texans will run the fool out of screens on the Titans for the next decade if they have both Bush and Davis.
I thought teams already did
Overalls 04-24-2006, 10:35 PM Sacks Allowed:

Houston -68
I guess the Spice Girls are better pass blockers than the Jackson 5. Who knew?
I know that TENNheads don't know the difference between pass blocking and run blocking, but this is a thread about running backs not QBs. Please pay attention in the future.
Starkiller 04-24-2006, 11:19 PM Finally I understand the problem in Houston. They think the OLine only needs to block for running plays... :ha:
Overalls, we all agree here (mostly anyway) that you have better RBs than we do. But I KNOW you don't want to go comparing OLines with anyone.
Overalls 04-24-2006, 11:22 PM I didn't start the O-line comparisons. Just defending my team.
Starkiller 04-24-2006, 11:47 PM I can respect that, but I'd say it's pretty much impossible to defend your OLine as a whole (much like it's impossible for them to defend David Carr).
TitanKid4Life 04-24-2006, 11:51 PM I can respect that, but I'd say it's pretty much impossible to defend your OLine as a whole (much like it's impossible for them to defend David Carr).
lol, thats funny, he averages getting sacked over 6 times a game
maximus 04-25-2006, 12:03 AM I can respect that, but I'd say it's pretty much impossible to defend your OLine as a whole (much like it's impossible for them to defend David Carr).

Overalls 04-25-2006, 12:05 AM I can respect that, but I'd say it's pretty much impossible to defend your OLine as a whole (much like it's impossible for them to defend David Carr).
Our O-line is better at run blocking than pass blocking. Your O-line allowed your RBs to average less than 100 yards a game. Imagine how bad that total would be if every game the other team put 8 in the box and blitzed the QB every play. Even the drunk next to me in the stands could tell what the play would be when david audibled. Pick almost any game and when he changed the play at the line, 80% of the time it was a run to his left. The Jr. High coaches calling the plays were brain dead when it came to calling an offense. Your right our pass blocking was the worse in the league, but in a thread about running backs it shows a lack of information to say that one of the best running backs to come out of college in a long time can not do well behind our line. We have made small improvements and we still have the draft to go. We COULD get either OT Marcus McNeill out of Auburn or OT Eric Winston from Miami in the 2nd. We have an offensive minded coach now and a first rate O-line coach. I see no reason to think that our run offense will not be better and it stands to reason that if a team has to respect your run game it CAN open up the passing game.
Overalls 04-25-2006, 12:16 AM lol, thats funny, he averages getting sacked over 6 times a game
68 sacks divided by 16 games = 4.25 sacks per game
That is still far too many sacks, but it is not 6
TitanKid4Life 04-25-2006, 12:18 AM well during the middle of the season, they said that it was something like that
Starkiller 04-25-2006, 12:30 AM Overalls, I certainly won't be defending our OLine's runblocking from 2005. And your run game as a whole was better than ours.
But it isn't all about the OLine either. We had no downfield passing threat to keep defenses honest, which you guys do have. And our RBs also don't have the breakaway threat that you have in Davis.
well during the middle of the season, they said that it was something like that
Carr was getting sacked at that rate thru about mid season, then they went to the Franco-Bovine Offense, which not only prevents sacks it prevents wins.
This run when behind Offense is not commonly used outside of France.
LazyManJackson 04-25-2006, 12:28 PM Didn't we sack Carr 6 times in one game?
TitanJeff 04-25-2006, 01:45 PM When the contractors were doing some work on the ceiling of Reliant Stadium, they consulted Carr because no one had been on their back more looking up at it than him.

Triumph 04-26-2006, 07:09 PM Dat David Carr, he spends more time on his back than Madonna. Too bad he doesn't get paid near as well.
TheMugwump 04-26-2006, 09:35 PM Best back in the division is Dom Davis, and it may still be Dom Davis after the draft, whether the Texicans take Bush or not.
And Overalls is correct about the run blocking skills of Houston's O-line. They are decent at that. Unfortunately, their pass blocking skills is far too reminiscent of the Matadors south of the Texas border. Give them someone to push back though, and they are decent.

Alex Trebek: Yeah, it was a trick question, Mr. Connery. Why don't you pick a category?
Sean Connery: I've got to ask you about the Penis Mightier.
Alex Trebek: What? No. No, no, that is The Pen is Mightier.
Sean Connery: Gussy it up however you want, Trebek. What matters is does it work? Will it really mighty my penis, man?
Alex Trebek: It's not a product, Mr. Connery.
Sean Connery: Because I've ordered devices like that before - wasted a pretty penny, I don't mind telling you. And if The Penis Mightier works, I'll order a dozen.
Alex Trebek: It's not a Penis Mightier, Mr. Connery. There's no such thing!
Nicholas Cage: Wait, wait, wait.. are you selling Penis Mightiers?
Alex Trebek: No! No, I'm not.
Sean Connery: Well, you're sitting on a gold mine, Trebek!
Alex Trebek: Right, right.. say, let's move on to Final Jeopardy, that should be a lot of fun. And the category is: The Federalist Papers. Wait, wait, I'm sorry, that's my bad. That's for regular "Jeopardy", which we'll be taping later today. Your category is: Horsies. All you have to do is tell me "Are Horsies pretty?" [ the Final Jeopardy music starts as the celebrities scribble some answers ] Yes or no, we'll except either answer. "Are Horsies pretty?". Keep in mind, there's no wrong answer. [ music stops, Alex approaches the podiums ] Let's see what all of you wrote, starting with you, Mr. Cage, and you wrote.. and you're podium is gone..
Nicholas Cage: I don't know where it went, I'm confused.
Alex Trebek: You lost you podium? I don't see.. you know what - I don't care. Let's move on. Calista Flockhart.
Calista Flockhart: [ louder than normal ] What? What?
Alex Trebek: Settle down, just relax. You wrote.. nothing. And you wagered.. nothing.
Calista Flockhart: [ in a whisper ] The pen was too heavy.
Alex Trebek: Fair enough. Mr. Connery?
Sean Connery: We meet again.
Alex Trebek: Let's see your answer.. [ screen reads "Buck" ] Oh, I'm sorry.. that must be you wager. A Buck. And you answer is.. [ screen reads "Futter" ] Futter. Buck Futter, I don't get it.
Sean Connery: Ohhhh.. I think you do, Trebek. I think you do, indeed!
Alex Trebek: Well, thanks for joining us..
Sean Connery: [ yelling ] Buck Futter!!
Alex Trebek: Fine, whatever. That's it for "Celebrity Jeopardy".. [ shaking head ] I don't know..

I can tell the second one is Boselli because of the bad shoulder. Unsure about the other ones, but I am certain Casserly spent high draft picks for them.
