View Full Version : What exactly comprises a "DIEHARD" fan?
flamehead2 07-10-2006, 05:10 PM The discussion in the thread about camping out for Titan Tickets has made me want to ask.
What do YOU think makes someone a diehard Titan fan?
Is it Camping out for a week to get tickets? Giving up a weeks pay, air conditioning and a week of your life?
Do you have to buy a 34' school bus and decorate it with Titan colored paint and logos then drive it to every game and tailgate out of it?
Do you have to go to every Home Titan game.
Or do you have to go to the away games too?
Do you have to be a PSL holder?
Do you have to paint your face at the games
Do you have to have more than 500 posts on your favorite Titan forum?
Do you have to have the last 3 years of games saved on your Tivo?
Do you have to start your own Titan fan site like Jeff?
Or do you have to do all of the above?
You decide and post below
Hoffa 07-10-2006, 05:14 PM You have to be like DIEHARD DAVE.
flamehead2 07-10-2006, 05:30 PM lol
he camps out
LazyManJackson 07-10-2006, 05:34 PM Post counts don't mean much in terms of diehard fan. I've got more than Gut, and well you know....................
To be a dierhard fan, for me, would be to go to all the away games.
mdfan 07-10-2006, 05:38 PM adding a few more questions:
Can fans that don't live in the US ever qualify as diehard?
What about Titans fans in the US that don't live in the Tenn area - can they ever be diehard
Broken Record 07-10-2006, 05:54 PM I consider myself diehard.
I travel over 6 hours round trip for every home game.
If I'm not at the game, I'm watching on TV.
My most prized possession is a Super Bowl 34 mini helmet signed by K Dyse, A Dyse, McNair, and Kearse.
If the Titans lose on Sunday, I come to work pissed off on Monday.
My son's 3 month baby pictures were taken in his first Titans pajamas.
He could say "Ti-see Ti-tans" before he he could say "juice please."
I own more jerseys of players no longer on the team than current ones.
When the Titans were in the Super Bowl, I drove to Atlanta just to go to fan fare, then drove back home... in an ice storm.
I haven't had a car, truck, motorcycle or boat in almost 10 years that hasn't had a Titans bumper sticker on it.
The wall in my office is covered with Titans art work and memorabilia.
I go to training camp nearly every year and stand in the heat for hours just to get a Titans fix in the summer.
I'd have more luck at remembering Keith Bulluck's birthday than my grandmother's.
I'm naming my next dog Bud. Take that as you will...
I spend more time reading about the Titans before 9am than most people do all day.
If I could find a good job in Nashville, I'd probably move there just to make it easier to get to games.
flamehead2 07-10-2006, 05:57 PM Hey broken record
Where do you drive from?
LazyManJackson 07-10-2006, 06:03 PM Just to clarify, I am not a DIEHARD Titan fan.
I think that would be impossible, I've never seen the Titans play at LP Field or anywhere
Broken Record 07-10-2006, 06:10 PM Hey broken record
Where do you drive from?
Knoxville, which is usually a little under 3 hours each way, but with game day traffic it stretches out a little.
flamehead2 07-10-2006, 06:21 PM I consider myself a Die hard fan even though I've been told repeatedly on this and the "official" forum that I'm not
I have been to EVERY home Titan game. A few away games
I too drive 3 hours to every home game, but i do it in me and my brothers 34' titan bus pictured here. That usually costs us about $185 in fuel round trip
I dress up every game, Home, TV or away game (see my avatar) and have been doing so since 1999
I enjoy every game i go to even when we lose. Although I enjoy the wins a lot more. I have NEVER left a game before the clock hits zero. I repeat NEVER. Hence i was one of the 20,000 or so that "Really" witnessed the Music city Miracle.
I've camped out for titan tickets every year since the 2000 playoff tickets went on sale. Ihave plenty of money so it has nothing to do with that
I LOVE doing it because I love the Titans
I recently bought PSL's It took me all these years because I wanted certain seats 5 rows from the field. and now they're mine for life!
I absolutely hate the ravens and wouldn't root for them to win ANY game even if Steve McNair Eddie George Jeff Fisher and Bruce Mathews all joined the team!
I own Titan plates on all of my cars and on my buss
I've been reading this forum for several years even though I only recently began posting here
with all that said I don't think you have to do all of that to be a Diehard fan.
Broken Record 07-10-2006, 06:53 PM pictured here.
Where do you drive from? I wanna ride with YOU :ha:
flamehead2 07-10-2006, 07:02 PM We drive from Martin, Tn It's only a two hour ride by car but in the slow @$$ bus it's a 3 hour drive :)
Mrs. Bipolar 07-10-2006, 07:29 PM Do you have to start your own Titan fan site like Jeff?

Gunny 07-10-2006, 09:07 PM Getting up at 4am to listen to games.

Bulluck 07-10-2006, 09:39 PM I don't really like the term die-hard. I've never missed a game and get bent out of shape when we lose and everything but I don't consider myself a die-hard fan. I'm an avid fan but I don't really know what a die-hard fan is I guess...
bulluck4dMVP 07-10-2006, 10:00 PM you gotta love that bus man :ha:

SEC 330 BIPOLAR 07-12-2006, 08:03 PM Before you post in here, take the time to think about what it means to be a true and loyal "Diehard." Diehards don't just give up on their team because they're suffering a bad year. Diehards always believe in a better tomorrow. Diehards know that you can't be a winner every single year. Diehards stick around thru the rebuilding years, and don't just pop up when the sunshine and rainbows appear. And, they definitely don't disappear when the storms surface. It's OK to be mad at your team or certain players, or play calling, or refs, or whatever. But, you never call out your team or your coach, you never call out for their firing or benching or trade. You always want to win, but you can hold your head up high in the losses and find the positives and build upon it, rather than focusing on the negatives to destroy the team and their confidence even further. You always want to win, not lose just for a better draft position. There is so much more to being a diehard. If you are, then this is the place to post it, to show your loyalty thru rough waters, and to add whatever you think it means to be a diehard.....
I am a true Titan diehard. I may not live in TN, but I was born and raised there. I know Titan football, and their fans. I recently located here to the PHX valley where I made a commitment to follow the Cardinals, while at the same time, not neglecting my loyalship to the Titans. That in itself has prepared me for the losses, no doubt. How would you Titan diehards feel if you gave the very worst team in the NFL their only 2 wins of the season??? It's a horrible feeling, but you still stick by your team with faith, hope, and love. No matter what. I watch every single game the Titans play down to the last tick of the clock. I am at the Cardinals home games, so I tivo the Titans and check them out Sunday night or whenever win or lose. My Cardinal friends thru the tailgates and the south end zone have labeled me a diehard, even though a newbie. But, to them I am known as "Titan." I also have Rocky Top spirit ringing loud and proud down here.
If you are truly a Diehard, then post it here. I and I'm sure others would love to see how many true and loyal diehards are out there. How are you coping with the misery. Misery loves company, so say it loud!!!
If any moderators are reading this, maybe you think that this thread is worthy of getting a "sticky." That way it stays at the top for all to see what it means to be a true diehard, and what the Titan fans have to prepare themself for in this grim reality of rebuilding times.
Fire away DIEHARDS

But, you never call out your team or your coach, you never call out for their firing or benching or trade.
What is that all about?
We're fans. We are not guarding the tomb of the unknown soldier. I hate football on Tivo and I'd rather be at home watching the Titans than tailgatin' in front of Sun Devil Stadium where the bleachers are empty as far as the eye can see.
I've got my psl's and I make all my games. I have an personalized authentic jersey and I've painted my face for games. I've traveled to road games. I stay until the end. I don't know about this rank and file communist crap.
Swartzie still sucks. GoT has convinced me of it.
Sorry. I guess I'm just a bad fan Red Bird man.

fitantitans 07-13-2006, 11:03 PM Is being a diehard Titans fan the same thing as being a diehard football fan?
