Interesting design change TJ
it's a mixed bag

I like all the new features
but i think I liked the blue background better

I like the look. Seems cleaner. I'll get used to it, but a little cramped tonight. You need to open up the width a little.

THe blue backround seems tougher IMO but i'll post either way :))

Nice change of venue though

I really like the new design, however maybe the background white should be an offwhite instead, the pure white does kind of hit you right in the eyes.

I like the new design and I guess in the offseason the Texans deserve to be on top of the AFC South as much as anyone else (on the front page) - :rotfl:

I'll agree, I liked the blue background but in any case, its a great new look, keep up the good work TJ

Not bad. I didn't realize I wanted a change, but I do like the way it looks. Bravo fearless leader, Bravo.

Now we know were the extra cap space is going...:greedy: :winker:

Thanks.

I think it takes some getting used to but I preferred it over the old style after a few days of use. I'm also planning a dark blue version so members will be able to use the one they prefer.

What a surprise this morning! With the new layout I have about 3" total of wasted space on the right and left margins, which requires a lot more scrolling. Even short post titles wrap. Is there a way to adjust my screen, or does that have to be done on your end, Jeff? Thanks.

TitanJeff

What is your resolution? This skin is set at a percentage of the width of your screen. If you prefer the old format, we'll have that one available again soon.

I like it alot better. I like white backrounds.
Jeff, I love the new skin. Did Scott (Glorify) help with it?

TitanJeff

Scott didn't help. I worked with another guy who does a lot of skins for vBulletin.

Great looking skin. I like it, though it came as a shock, this morning

I've got the same thing. 1024*768 using Firefox for Windoze.

Just playing around with it. The Go Advanced posting window looks to use about the right amount of screen real estate. It's the thread display itself that has a lot of extra white space.

TitanJeff

I'll be tinkering with the width if I can.

got any softer colors that won't blind ya

TitanJeff
07-28-2006, 10:05 AM
Like I said, the older style will be available to switch to at some point.

I've tinkered with widening things a bit. Any better?

Broken Record
07-28-2006, 10:11 AM
Yeah, it's a little bit wider now. There's still some disparity between the posting screen and the viewing screen, but it's not a big deal.

The new color scheme rocks. It still feels like the same site, just better. When you mentioned you were doing an update, I was afraid that my home on the web wouldn't feel like home any more, but it still does. Just like we got some new furniture ;)

Here are a couple of screen shots. You can see that on the posting window the navy portions on each side are smaller because the main pane is bigger. Hope this helps.

To repete everyones views, looks great. The width of the posting boxes works perfect on my screen.

As you can tell, I don't have anything to do today except beta test the new forum design, but the issue I'm talking about seems to be specific to Firefox. Looks better in IE version 7.

I'm having some issues with Firefox for mac and corrupt cookies on the main site. I've not had any issues with the forum yet.

Try trashing the cashe and dumping the cookie from this site to see if it has any impact.

@Broken Record:

Isn't is just because you've scrolled down beyond the Advertisement that take up the white space on the right?

Also the added whitespace around the actual messages is because they're indented in relation to the "thread tool bar".

Sledge

I'd make the text font Titans blue, easier to read...

I thought it might have been Vigsted, but it's not. Check these screen shots out from the forum index and you can see the difference. Jeff, I deleted the FF cache and cookie and still got the same result. Also, just wanted to make sure you know that this doesn't bother me at all. I'm just trying to help you out with troubleshooting.

Internet Explorer (http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f242/BrokenRecord70/IE.gif)

Firefox (http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f242/BrokenRecord70/FireFox.gif)

Check out how the sub forums get bunched up in FireFox.

TitanJeff
07-28-2006, 12:36 PM
That's strange. What you should see is what you get with IE. I need to look into that. My FireFox for mac doesn't do that. There should be more space between the sub-catagories.

Before I mess with this too much, does anyone else with FireFox for the pc see this?

Broken Record
07-28-2006, 12:37 PM
Yeah, it's kind of weird. I'd be interested to know if others see it. It looked like that on my PC at home as well as mine at work, both on Win XP using the latest FireFox.

I just fired up the kid's Gateway and went to the forum with FireFox and it looked right.

Broken Record
07-28-2006, 01:00 PM
Weird... I'll test it on another machine. Was the Gateway set at 1024*768?

Broken Record
07-28-2006, 01:22 PM
Just FYI, looks ok to me at 1280*1024, 1280*768, 1152*864, etc. It's only when it gets to 1024*768 or less that it jumbles.

TitanJeff
07-28-2006, 01:24 PM
Nope. And when I adjusted to 1024, it looked like your screen shot.

I've been to the FireFox site to search for a solution and haven't had any luck yet.

I'm gonna try and widen some more.

Broken Record
07-28-2006, 01:34 PM
Yep. It is wider now. It's still not quite as wide as the IE version, but it's much better.

Broken Record
07-28-2006, 01:37 PM
Not sure how many people use Windoze/Firefox/1024*768 anyway... probably far from the majority.

I use a plug in that allows you to view a site in IE, but it displays as a tab within FireFox and that definitely fixes it. LOL.

I'm discovering that those of you who have Internet Explorer for the pc are having problems with the header. I'm working on that though I'd rather strike IE off the face of the planet instead.

one thing that needs to be added is a New Post button at the end of the page. You can put it next to the post reply button. Keeps from having to scroll back up to hit new post.

The colors aren't as blinding on my home computer as it is at work.
