View Full Version : The good / The bad / The ugly
skitch 08-13-2006, 01:13 PM These opinions may be burried in a thread somewhere (if so I apologize), but I wanted the through out a "simplified" opinion and wondered about everyone else's:
Volek = good
Return game = really good
Pacman = really good
Bobby Wade = Suprisingly good
O Line = Undecided
Woolfolk = Undecided (leaning towards "bad")
Reynaldo Hill = Ugly (sorry Gunny)
Roydel Williams = Ugly

Sad part about the crowd noise is that it was better than most of the REGULAR season games last year.
One end of the upper deck tried to start the "wave" about 8 times last night. It died at about the 50yd line.

It better be at those prices.
SEC 330 BIPOLAR 08-13-2006, 01:51 PM If given the choice which would you rather have? Two seven dollar 20oz beers at LP or an 18 pack in the parking lot? I took the 18 pack.

I took option 3, stocked fridge in my den.
moose4now 08-13-2006, 03:16 PM Pacman = really good
And, as far as I'm concerned the best news of the night.
Dangermode 08-13-2006, 03:28 PM The Good:
Pacman layin' down the HITS. Awesome!
Special teams looked great. Both ways.
WE HAVE A PASS RUSH!!!!
Did I mention Pacmans HITS?!
O line makin' some holes!
Brown high steppin'!
Henry strong to the goalline.
That was fun.

Yes! We've found another reciever. And he can return too.
Also good: Ahmad Hall at Fullback had some good blocks.
Brian 08-13-2006, 06:45 PM One end of the upper deck tried to start the "wave" about 8 times last night. The Good - Pacman

:sad2:
LazyManJackson 08-13-2006, 06:46 PM I LOVED our pass rush, D-line all together were pretty good.
Pacman was ace, as was Special Teams
We don't have depth but I think we already know that, espcially on defense
Yes! We've found another reciever. And he can return too.
Also good: Ahmad Hall at Fullback had some good blocks.
Seems like Wade can be a really good pickup. Still early, but it's easy to see his quickness and shiftiness.
Hall does look like the smashmouth FB he was advertised to be. He was fearless and popping defenders in the chops. I like that.
Gunny 08-13-2006, 07:55 PM Did Hall make the block on the Travis Henry TD run?
Reynaldo Hill = Ugly (sorry Gunny)
hater :ha:
Bulluck 08-13-2006, 07:56 PM Hall made A block on the Henry. Not sure if it's what sprung him in, though.
Unfortunatley, Fleming better watch out. Hall didn't make any plays last night but looking back on it, Fleming may have hurt himself more by not catching the ball last year.
nendzone 08-13-2006, 09:04 PM The Ugly - Nashville is still doing the wave.
:sad2:
The Redskins fans were doing it at their afternoon scrimmage with the Ravens last week. I was shocked it had survived the '80s up there. Maybe this is one of those things where if you wait long enough, it comes back into fashion again.
God forbid.
Sukrillux 08-13-2006, 09:14 PM The good = whole 1st string team (offense, defense, and all special teams)
The bad = 2nd/3rd string defense (except for a few players)
The ugly = Keon Raymond, Reynaldology, and that look on Reese's face when Young went down.
Mahelona, Randall, Roby, and a few others were nice bright spots in the second half. Poor tackling by Woolfolk could have put him out for a while. Never lead with your head! I think that Young looked like he was holding back out there last night. He was too worried about what people would criticize about his play the next day. He has awesome pocket awareness and a strong arm. He is all of the things that we thought he would be. IMO, he was just having the rookie jitters last night. If the Titans would have passed more, I believe that Volek could have put up some more points. However, I like the Fisherball stuff. Eat the clock, win time of possession.

Hey! I heard platforms were back! Help us all....
Snookus 08-13-2006, 09:29 PM He has awesome pocket awareness and a strong arm.
Especially strong for how quick the release is. It's just a little flick but it flies 50 yards no problem.

that was crazy that pass.
GLinks 08-13-2006, 09:41 PM Here's who stood out to me last night. I know a lot of this has been said, but I just want to collect my thoughts on the game.
Pacman -- kid is going to have a good season. I love how physical he is. Great how he can support the run. I get more pleased with him as our first pick last year the more I see him.
Reynaldo Hill/ Andre Woolfolk -- not Hill's night, for sure. Andre to me sort of made a case to challenge Hill. He got one INT when it didn't count, but a nice recovery from a previous blown play, and missed one when he should have had it. Had he, he miiiight have seen himself with a starting opportunity at some point. Not so sure now, but if Hill's next game is the same and Andre's similar, I might consider giving Andre a chance at outside again. I will say I didn't expect as much as we saw from Woolfolk. I say don't give up on him yet....and he really brought the wood. At this point, I wouldn't even consider this season without Andre, which I'm sure we're not. I can even see him getting in on the safety rotation with that kind of physicality.
Ahmard Hall -- All I can say is -- Fleming, watch out. When you get back, you better show why we drafted you. You better open up holes, and still demonstrate that ability to catch and go deep.
Special teams -- wow, are we going to rely on this unit this year. This might keep us in games we might otherwise not be in. We've got three good returners in Jones, Wade and Roby, and I'll tell you, as I'm sure you know, Roby outdid Wade on the kickoff returns.
Toone and Nande missed a lot of tackles. Nande caught my eye once, but I can't remember why. Marcus Randall, on the other hand, showed some of the shizz last night. Prediction: if things continue, Toone gets cut, makes the PS if he clears waivers, Randall makes the squad. Nande is given the chance to slow down and develop, somewhere toward the end of the depth chart.
I want to see White and more of Ganther to finish evaluating the RB corp, but we need Brown this year.
WRs need to catch passes consistently. If we get four to be consistent, we'll be decent, and I don't care if that group includes Ben Troupe if we have two productive RBs. I still think Williams is going to step it up -- I'm not overly concerned about one perfect miss, he's still got the moxy IMO; could have totally redeemed himself if he had shown more sideline awareness and scored that TD. Givens needs more looks. Bennett's looking similar to last year and needs to be tougher and more consistent.
TEs, wait and see, but should hopefully be good.
Fuller -- picking up where he left off it seems.
DLine I'm worried about without Starks potentially. I think LaBoy will be solid, but Odom needs to bring it up to that level LaBoy was showing at the end of last season. I'm sure we'll be waiting to see if a vet DT hits the waiver wire.
OLine. I'm anxious to see how this unit gels, and who ends up starting. I just hope it's the best mix. I doubt he'll start, but Amano intrigues me as a guard, and if he does well, might eventually replace Kevin Mawae at center whenever his time is up.
Glad Young is okay. Gave us a scare there for a moment. His performance was expected, but encouraging.
I'll also throw out there, I know it's just one preseason game, but I look forward to the rest.
Bulluckfan 08-13-2006, 10:00 PM I'll tell you, as I'm sure you know, Roby outdid Wade on the kickoff returns.
I think if you watch the game again, you'll find that you are wrong about this. Note also that Wade was playing against the first stringers (whatever that means in ST). Roby looked good, but Wade had a 50 yard return himself that looked real good. He had a couple of others near the 30.
WoolfolksUncle 08-13-2006, 10:14 PM First let me say, I didn't see the game... In Hampton Roads and not paying extra price (Sunday Ticket) for preseason games. Andre dropped an int I guess from what I read, but that means he was in place on the play. He got a pick and had 2 pass defenses (one of those would be the dropped pick). 4 solo tackles 1 assisted tackle, sounds like a good game. Like I have stated before, he is challenging Hill... It is his goal and his main focus.... Stay healthy and continue well play.. This game he opened eyes, maybe this coming game he can make eyes bat.... One note for this coming game... It is in Denver - Andre's home and his first time playing there since high school. Added incentive to do well, he will definitely have a lot of fans in the stands (family and friends - including me - flying to my home city as well Friday just for the occasion).... Good luck to all the Titans... Those who got a PM from me before in the past, remember what I told you about this game.... Less than a week Baby 1/2 and 1/2 plus the signs..... wheww weeee
the dropped INT was ugly on his part, but you are correct that he made the reciever into the defender - BUT IT HIT HIM IN THE HANDS arrruuughhh!
guess thats why he plays D - lol
cld12pk2go 08-13-2006, 10:44 PM Hall made A block on the Henry. Not sure if it's what sprung him in, though.
Unfortunatley, Fleming better watch out. Hall didn't make any plays last night but looking back on it, Fleming may have hurt himself more by not catching the ball last year.
Hall kicked out a Linebacker that was coming up to plug the gap. He laid the wood and opened up a good 3ft gap for Henry to plow through.
It wasn't a sexy knock the crap out of the guy hit; however, it was solid contact that started the linebacker going the other direction followed by leg drive that opened the gap.

Hey, it's not my favorite either but it beats everyone sitting on their hands and quiet. It is like people think they are too cool to do it when it comes around.
Reynaldo Hill/ Andre Woolfolk -- not Hill's night, for sure. Andre to me sort of made a case to challenge Hill.

Better than Woolfolk , Gardner and Waddell ?
the point is not to replace a 'true starter' but to add depth to the 2nd team
GLinks 08-14-2006, 01:47 AM I think if you watch the game again, you'll find that you are wrong about this. Note also that Wade was playing against the first stringers (whatever that means in ST). Perhaps you are right about that. I did forget about that long return of Wade's. Roby just looked more explosive than I thought he would at the return position, I suppose. So, I'm really glad we have that kind of depth there. I guess that's more accurate.

Sukrillux 08-14-2006, 01:09 PM Woolfolk did better than Hill Saturday. Nice INT, bad timing though. Although, Randall did as good as Woolfolk. I think that they said Randall is playing LB now. If Bush would have run to Pacman's side of the field the first time, he wouldn't have gotten the 44 yards. Pacman is becoming the Keith Bulluck of our secondary. Last year, Keith was the only big talent we had at LB. Pac should make the pro bowl this year... But he does have some league veterans to beat out.

God I wanted Roydell to make that Catch, and Bennett. Both passes were perfect, though, which is GREAT. Here's to the longball!

Mex#1TitanFan 08-15-2006, 03:57 PM The good: Pacman's game, I think he is more focused and is gaining experience and a lot of confidence, nice hit on Reggie Bush!!
The bad: Inconsistency in offense, nice holes for Brown but I don't see that the line be consistent. Also Bobby Wade effort was awesome (learn something Bennett)
The ugly: Roydell Williams dropping that VY's beautiful pass and Bennett is so inconsistent, he drops everything, I don't like him to be a top WR for us, he was better when he was not challenged, after Mason and the other receivers he did a nice job but his inconsistency is killing me and the other fans. Drop in New England, last year vs Colts in the 1 yard line (that play turn the game around), this drop, common Bennett you can't be playing like this...

two very bad examples if you ask me.
bennet had just made an amazing catch right before that new england drop. plus he had two guys hanging off him
the colts drop... well two years ago that wasn't a drop. i'm still not sure that was a drop. i think it was more the league kissing mannings butt than anything else. very bad use of replay
