View Full Version : Fisher Says Pacman has Reason to be Concerned About his Long-Term Future

SUMMARY: Titans Coach Jeff Fisher told the media this afternoon that Pacman Jones' future should be a concern to the second-year corner who was suspended for the Jaguars game based on recent off-the-field incidents. "He (Pacman) was very, very concerned about his immediate future," said Fisher. "I think he has legitimate reason to be concerned about his long-term future here." Fisher went on to stress how frustrated and embarrassed he is with Jones. "Again, I’m embarrassed for the organization. I’m embarrassed for the fans because of his choices," said Fisher. "As you all know, I can’t go home with him every night. He’s got to make the right decisions. Hopefully, he’ll get on the right track and we won’t have any more incidents. However, if there is another incident, it will be awfully telling."

It sounds more serious. That's a pretty bold statement. I hope Jones makes a good statement this week, and we hear nothing more from him off the field. He needs to get his act together.

I think everyone should read the entire article. There are considerations beyond the Titans and their cap. The NFLPA would get involved in a big way.

And rightfully so. You can't punish a player for an allegation. That is why Fish said "The court system has to run its course as far as the incident last week. What we’re disappointed is the action as a result of an accumulation of things that have happened."

My take is he is telling Pac to quit allowing himself to be the target of so much attention/allegations. I'm assuming it is because it is a distraction. I also think he is telling Pac that ENOUGH IS ENOUGH.

Titans are in a difficult situation trying to adjust Pac's off the field behavior. They can't punish legally for an allegation and their is definitely financial damages for Pac if they try to illegally or inappropriately impose fines or dismissal.

Hopefully, the money lost by being inactive and what he may lose from the clauses in his contract if he his convicted will be sufficient for him to keep his nose clean from here on out.

I am crazy about Pac- how he plays on the field and his fiery F-you attitude to his critics. I would REALLY be disappointed if he gets booted. Taking on Fisher and the Titans, however, is not a battle Pac should fight. Fly right Pac, and live to play another day.

You speak the truth! People don't realize that Fisher can only do so much. There is no way anyone in this sport will ever be suspended all year for this sort of infraction. Just not going to happen. Players Association will not let it happen.

If Haynesworth didn't get suspended all year for that assault, and Ray Lewis can be SB MVP and NFL posterboy after being an accessory to murder, then their are limitations to Pacman's punishment.

On top of that, it would be ridiculous to cut ties with him at this point. They have far too much invested, he is playing well, the team is not being destroyed (a la TO). They need to discipline him appropriately. More severly for future events and then maybe get rid of him. Just not yet.

For the third time, no media source has verified your claim that Pacman was asked to come to BSP for a meeting. This is the title of the thread you started and the reason it was moved.

Fisher is punishing for the fact he missed practice because he was at a bar at 1:00 AM. If there is more to it and he did spit on the girl, I am sure the NFLPA will get involved.

Fisher confirmed it in his press conf.............he said he brought the whole team in and talked it over just as I said..............split hairs Jeff, but the info was solid and it is now confirmed....................it is clear as day exactly what happened. I saw Adam come in early and the team follow................. I guess next time I'll have a player text message the info or take pictures for you.

Fisher said he spoke to the team about it Saturday morning. He did not say, as you did in your post, "Word is Mr Jones is having a meeting today at 11 AM with Fisher and Reese and his agent." This remains unconfirmed, thus, a rumor.

Even if we are to accept this team meeting is the same as a meeting between Jones, Fisher, Reese and his agent, it was not confirmed until today's statement by Fisher which makes it a rumor from the point you posted it to the moment the Fisher statement was released.

At this point, we both have clearly explained our positions. As our rules state, questions and concerns about moderation need to be kept private. Feel free to PM or email me there if you have further concerns.

A lot of the players often go out in public (just ask Elfnmagic) but only Pac has a consistant record of running afoul with the law and with females who claim to have caught his spit.

Does anyone really believe that only Pacman is a target in public bars for money seeking bystanders, not any of the other players,
and he is innocent of any bad behavior and public drunkeness?
That it's always a case of innocent Pacman just seeking some quiet social interactions, because he suffers from cabin fever, and there's just always some lawsuit seeking golddiggers following him around waiting for their chance to cash in by falsely accusing him around midnight of being drunk and disorderly?
Funny that only happens to him and none of the other players.

Quit kidding yourselves, he has said he won't change his habits, he has no common sense, and his pattern will continue if they don't reign him in. That may not bother some, and that's fine, but don't pretend he's just a victim of false circumstances.

this will be really interesting. You know the media will push him to the limits. Will we watch him explode and start cussing out the media or will he be calm and act like Haynesworth did. You know the FO has told him to watch what he says.

Based on his previous meetings with the media I expect him to lose it.

I am not sure how to feel about this. So is what happened true? SO did he lie to everyone saying that he was not there? He reminds me of some of the young kids I have working for me in the Air Force, who seem to think they can push the limits to see how long it takes them to lose a stripe. Before you know it BAM, reality is going to hit you in the arse.

BTW, all of this pretty much confirms the story that both Bongo and I reported 3-4 weeks ago after the Haynesworth incident... that Bud flew to town, had Jones , Fisher, Reese and Underwood in for a meeting where he informed Jones he would no longer take any crap and that Bud was prepared to sit Jones for the entire rest of his contract, and to eat it financially, if Jones sits for 3-4 years he will be pretty unlikely to get a 2nd contract...

Can we just avoid going down the "don't post that "over here"" or "this place versus that place" crap.

Jeezes....this place finally has been free of monster egos for a few years who get so freeking upset and whiny that their posts are not considered gospel...I would hate to see it become that way again.

I personally am tired of the comparisons of this board or that board or whatever. They were not created for any one person to have a seat at the head of the table and everyone stop talking an listen when they sit down.

If you want that make your freeking blog and let your sheep follow you there.

He doesn't lose any money for being inactive. They should try (i can see the players union taking Pac's side) to fine him the eqivalent of 1 weeks salary IMO.

Pthug is once again proving what he is. As some of you may know I teach high school and this guy reminds me of some of my "students". They don't care about an education, just there to have fun and thug it up at school, Pthug is doing the same, when he should be thankful and being appreciative of his good fortune to play a kids game and make $$$ for it. As far as they are concerned the number one thing is saving face with thier friends. Trying to correct behavior with them is fruitless and usually results in them only acting worse. Anyone believe this is the last time this will happen? I don't think so. Sometimes you can reach them one on one but often not. Many of them simply haven't grown up enough yet and or have little or no parental support or someone to "show them" how to live and treat people. Sort of sounds like Pthug doesn't it?

Whether they are professional athletes in basketball, football...fame and/or money don't seem to change a person and/or where they came from. Maybe in the next draft the Titans will take a good long hard look at the personalities of the players they are thinking of drafting before they make another boneheaded pick. What a waste of a number 6 pick. All that talent doesn't mean squat if you take chances of throwing it all away like that. Give me a break Pac, you loser. How many chances are they going to give this idiot. :bonk2:

I dont think we need to worry about him leaving, hes getting alot better, if we take care of the off the field problems, then we have no worry, hes going to be a top CB, its just going to take time
