View Full Version : John McClain's article

I like to read and listen to what this guy says, he seems to be on top of most issues in the NFL. Here is a excerpt from his most recent in the Houston Chronicle
"Some call him "Punkman," because of his scrapes and near-scrapes with police. Jones is a thug and proud of it. I don't care how bad of an upbringing a player has had, they know right from wrong. Jones is an example of what's bad about the NFL. He uses his horrible background in Atlanta as an excuse for his behavior. I don't think many players have it over Vince Young when it comes to a tough upbringing, but he's an example of what's good about the NFL.

If I were Fisher, I trade Jones before the draft. Because he's got talent, there are coaches who'd think just like Fisher did when Jones came out of West Virginia: "I don't care what's happened to him in the past because I can control him." Wash your hands of him. No one in Nashville will regret it except the attorneys and bail bondsmen."

Many of us fans have been saying this for a long time but this is the first time I have seen anyone in the media with credibility say it.

I went looking for this article. I couldn't find it...

anyhow, check out the results of the Texans Poll on the page in the link.

It's right above that pic of Farve.

The article is titled NFL, Carr wreck. The portion about Pthug is about halfway down after he talks about the Texans.

McClain gave us the most interesting interview last year responding to a Pacman question.

ok, I didn't see an article by that name but I did find this in his blog.

I respect the heck out of Titans coach Jeff Fisher for suspending troubled cornerback Pacman Jones for the Jacksonville game. Jones is loaded with talent, which he displayed in their victory over the Texans on Sunday, but he's been nothing but trouble since they used the sixth overall pick on him last year.

there's much more there, some word for word what you mentioned.

Ah Oakland or as I like to refer to it "The island of misfit toys". Pthug would fit in just fine and if we act soon enough ol' weird al might give a 2nd for him.

The Titans may not be able to trade him if the his value plummets because of the rumors that are currently swirling around his posse and him in the team hotel today....................and his XLR and bank roll.

To get to that level of news, it would probably have to involve either rape or murder. But I don't want to temp the fates...

So is it something that Pac is directly involved in or his friends. Either way is it something that can push Pac past the point of no return?

Although a little harsh the old phrase "Nut up or shut up" seems appropriate.

I'm not talking about the rap video/car incident. I'm talking about something that has been talked about underground. Pac denied involvement. I feel if I know, then at this point Jeff and Floyd would know since it was on the under current back in mini-camp.

Just because he can't give specifics doesn't mean he can't say that there are rumors of something very big going on.

After all, there are still laws in this country that makes libel and slander illegal. It might not pan out...

Would I be out of line if I pointed out that bongo said he ordered a fur coat, then another poster said he couldn't have got the coat at that store because it was a womans store. So if I put two and two together with the BIG story. I am guessing that Adam will come out as a Cowboy fan.

Bongo seem privy to a lot of inside info. If they break a story on here, certain people might know where it came from and it could cost them their job. I can see being discrete at times.

IMO many of us are frustrated at Bongo for his vague flakey stories because it's starting to dominate the board & it 's never anything but negative news.

When he talk's football he's an intelligent & interesting guy but this playground gossip stuff is getting old real fast.

Nope! At away games there are several boys in a player's entourage, then there is the girlfriend who always travels with her girls and then there are the random fans. It would be difficult to point a definitive finger at one person being a snitch!

If Bongo has some real info, he either should leak it or say nothing at all. Things that I know may be inside info, but if I tell it, it's info that is not confidential. The confidential stuff that I know, I don't even put out a teaser.

Now if Bongo is talking about what I think he's talking about I can understand him not even dropping a hint because it's a serious allegation that would probably set off enough fire on this board and start some "excrement".

On another note, what happened to true football fans? The seats were empty in Jacksonville! I know it was raining, but it wasn't torrential downpour! Sigh.
