In case you haven't heard, Atlanta Head Coach Jim Mora Jr. was on a Seattle sports radio station in the last few days and stated that we would leave the Falcons to coach the Wasington Huskies if the opportunity presented itself. He went on to say, even if the Falcons were in a playoff run he would take the job, a position he calls "his dream job".
The audio can be heard here. Skip to the last few minutes for these comments.

Rumours are flying that Coach Mora will be fired, as early as today.

PFT has audio of the clip. He wasn't joking. He might have been a little to comfortable with an old college friend, but the guy is an idiot if he doesn't realize that something he says on the radio in Seattle isn't going to make it back to Atlanta.

I know he SAID he was joking but that was after it all got out....
It wouldn't surprise me a bit if he got canned....
What a bonehead to say stuff like that on the radio. Was he "on the sauce" or something while hanging out with his old roommate. He was asked several times if he was dead serious and he even repeats that he is.
We were just hanging out chatting and I start running my mouth about another job...OOPS, forgot about a few million people listening to me...

I can see why he said it, and some of us would say the same thing if we didn't think about it first. And you say things like that to your buddy. You tell them the truth.
I don't think he was joking.
Now, as far as getting fired for saying something like that. I understand why someone would fire you. I do. I get that. I just wouldn't fire someone myself. I believe in everybody's right to improve their lot in life. It's just a reality. And in the NFL, it's a given. Everybody has to look out for themself. NFL owners and players should be used to this idea that people look toward the future. They just aren't used to someone saying it out loud.
I think it's a 50/50. If I'm an owner who wants long term commitment. I fire him. If I'm an owner who understands everyone is trying to improve their lot, and sometimes then end up with you, I keep 'em.
At the very least, I give him the rest of the season as his team will not have more trust with anyone else. You have to finish it out together.
