Sure i'd like to play Gears of War but I wouldn't get a 360 for a shooter.

Gears of War is a shooter but the view is allot different (Chase not 1st person). You have to play it to really understand. Allot of fun though.

probably but I wouldn't buy it just for that. Shooters aren't really my top choices for games.

I find GTA over-rated but regardless cross console games aren't an issue. It's the exclusive PS3 games and whether they stay exclusive.

As an XBOX guy, the only game that is Sony exclusive that interests me is God Of War. Metal Gears look pretty, but I don't give a darn about a stealth game (yawn). The only reason I owned a PS2 was to play the GTAs and now I don't even have to live with a delay like I did with San Andreas.

Seriously, though, you could end up with both consoles if you really want a PS3 that is. I mean, you will end up paying around $200 bucks for what would be worth $500 bucks or more, and you will hardly notice it by paying $9/month.

Of course, I can see your point if you feel like there aren't too many decent games on the 360 right now to justify getting one. I feel the same. But I have high expectations for a few games coming up soon, and if they turn out to be good, I'll definitely get a 360.

the 360 has better games period, all the racing games and sports games are on both consoles, exept like pgr and grand tourismo, but shooters on the 360 are much much better than ps3 and the online is tons better as well

I was a PS-head, and wanted ps3 to be great, but they dropped the bomb and the system has just about flopped completely. And each day it looks like all the games that might have been it's only hope are going to 360 as well.
If it does pan out, I've got no problem owning both.

But this is going to be a long race.

If anything, the PS3 makes a great Blu Ray player and I am very much looking forward to seeing what it can really do.

Gunny, my fault. I could've swore that you were on that side of the fence for quite awhile. As for Blu-Ray, yeah if blu-ray actually pans out the ps3 would be a good value, but i don't see people converting to blu-ray. It's sort of silly at this time.

I was for a while - though that was before the ps3 came out.

PS3 is producing some decently rated games recently (VF5, NBA Homecourt and then there is Resistance)

God of War II is PS3's check-point game that'll buy them some time before others come out, but it isn't multiplayer and probably doesn't have an online mode which is where all the hype is right now.
If you don't have an online vs mode, you're gonna be at a huge disadvantage these days. I can't wait for Assassin's Creed, but that's one of my complaints with it already. No online.

There was a good point made in last week's IGN weekly - game developers do not need to push every game online. Some games are simply not meant to be played online and they should stay that way, rather than adding some useless online play just because everybody else is doing it.

To find a negative with that, is reaching and nothing but reaching. Some game developers are lazy, or some just haven't figured out how to do it it seems.

Yes, you have given a good description of what playing online is all about. But it has nothing to do with what I said. Some games are simply meant to be single-player, and thus it's better for game developers to focus on the game itself, rather than wasting time adding some online option that won't do anything for the game.
