Adam Scheftner from NFL Network just said on Total Access that the Dolphins were interested in Jim Schwartz because he reminds them of a Sean Payton and what Payton did with Saints.

Maybe every Defensive Cordinator should give up more yards then any other team and give up over 400 yards to the Texans..... Then they will get interviews as well.

It is curious that Fisher and Chow have had their contracts redone but no mention of Swartz.

I am all for Cheif Red Hat to move down the road. Who whould be our top 5 DC candidates? I am sure it depends on who gets HC jobs.

You might be asking some DC's to take a lateral move. They would only do this if they felt we were going to be very noticed next year, and make the playoffs. That would pad their chances to move up to a HC job. I was pretty surprised SF fired their DC. They went to Denver and really shut them down. Denver was trying to make the playoffs, and SF was playing for nothing. Their D kept them in it for most of the game. Maybe he's worth a look if Swartz leaves.

I am sure it depends on who gets HC jobs.If Fisher is looking to reward an assistant and promote from within, McGinniss is the obvious choice to be at the top of the list of candidates. Former HC and DC experience, he got a raw deal at Arizona and the Titans were the beneficiaries when he fell in their lap.

There is a problem with lateral moves, which is why you see some of these manufactured titles around the league.

I think you're reading too much into Schefter's comments. He was just guessing who they might be interested in, not reporting something the Dolphins told him. First, he named three college coaches they might look at but said he didn't think any of them would take it. Then, he said, they could come back to young assistants like Schwartz and Rivera in light of the success other young assistants like Payton had after moving up this year. He did not say the Dolphins told him they were interested in Schwartz. He was just throwing names out there in response to a question.

Again... we aren't going to get any DC or OC to switch teams for the exact same job as long as he's under contract.

If Schwartz leaves (which I PRAY he does), I hope the Titans talk with Joe Kines, the Defensive coordinator down at Alabama.

Bama just got signed Nick Saban, and the general consensus is Kines may not be there long. He's a darn good DC, and has a LOT of fire and passion behind him.

In the 2005 season, Alabama surprisingly went 10-2, with quite a few games being decided by his defensive genius.

I honestly hope that Bud is looking in Kines' direction.

Kines might can coach, but I was dying laughing after seeing him in his halftime interview...

I know you're joking, but seriously, what is so great about Washburn? Last I remember our D-line was great it had numerous 1st round picks as well as 2nd round picks, you'd think it would be great with that amount of talent.

you mean like Norm Chow? just because college HCs haven't become successful NFL HCs doesn't mean coordinators can't do it.

Now that the Dolphins have a new deal with Capers (http://www.gotitans.com/goForum/showthread.php?t=25340) they won't be looking at a defensive guy for their head coach position.

chow's offense hasnt been lights out since has been in the league, but im willing to give him a reprieve because he had a rookie qb this year and an over the hill qb last year.

i really cant think of one college coach who has come from the college ranks and had the same type of success in the nfl(without nfl experience before hand)

The firejimschwartz site is very well done. And you guys didn't really think the Dolphins were interested in him, did you?
Every year there are about 3-4 HC positions open, and he's never considered. They might entertain him with an interview, but nobody wants him as a coach. What's his resume include? Destroying a #1 defense, making it worse and worse every season?
Seriously. Nobody will ever hire him.
