In Gears of War, I'm defending the house right now. But it is not going well. Some dude starts thundering upstairs, launches something at me, it goes boom boom, and I die. I am having a hard time killing him too. I have to figure something out.

This thread is for the new God of War for the PS2 not Gears of War. There is always confusion with the GOW acronymn.

As for your Gears problem. I think you have to lead the Boomer outside so you can you can use the Hammer of Dawn on him. At least if I am thinking of the same part.

Co-Op is your best friend in Gears.

I was exposed to God of War like two months ago, and it's an amazing game. So I will definitely be buying this one as soon as it comes out

well, he's been in the bad habit of leaving his games all over his room. Counted 13 out yesterday and told him if it happens again, i'm taking it back. So, I might be in luck lol.

It's GOW on steroids.

Never played the original GoW as my daughter inherited the PS2 after Xbox came out.

But since I have the PS3, I picked up GoW 2 last night and the original. Played 2 for about 1.5 hours and I gotta say that the game lives up to the hype.

Cannot wait for a PS3 version.

btw; the game does not play @ 720p on the PS3 as previously reported by IGN, it does play @ 480p just fine though. IGN also retracted their statement.

Very impressed. I plan on beating 2 then moving on to the original.

After reading what you guys thought about it, I am convinced that I need to buy this game. I was pretty much going to after I bought the first one a few months back, but i'm pretty certain now.

Don't worry, after I started playing I started to feel what it must have been like to see Empire Stikes Back w/o seeing Star Wars first (for lack of a better example).

Just want to go on record and say this is probably the best action game ever created...

just beat it like five minutes ago. the ending makes it pretty clear there will be a third one, since it's to be continued.

The next GoW for PS3 will have Co-op. Or, that's the rumor at least.

i just dont see how GOW would be fun with co-op. i think it would be too much going on at once to really enjoy it. it would just be hitting square the entire time hoping you get more kills than your partner.

Yeah, it's a button masher, but games are always more fun in co-op. Multiplayer and co-op are the new campaigns. It's gonna be hard for me to buy a strictly campaign game.

Zelda : Twilight Princess is truly a masterpiece of a game

but to be fair, they admitted they (i am talking IGN here, not sure who you meant) said they would never rate a game 10 out of 10 again.

One great thing about God of War is the music, it gives it a real epic feel.

Have you found any of the Power Urns? Those things make the game basically unfair.

Yeah... the ending was kind of lame. But it's been known for a while that there was going to be a third. It'll be very interesting to see what the story of III is.

The story was well done, the ending was especially intriguing.

But seriously... how do you think they will play out the story of III? Do you really think they can take the Great War II and stretch it into a 10+ hour game? Or do you think the Titans will turn on Kratos, and he will have to fight them too?

It will be interesting to see how everything will unfold in the next GoW, that's for sure. I don't know about the Titans turning on Kratos. Both want the same purpose, and Kratos has no chance to defeat the Gods in his current form, so he'll need all the help he can get from them. Athena did say that they couldn't be trusted, though, so who knows.

Considering how the game ended, I'd think that the third game will be somewhat different from the other two.

I don't get how he stabs Athena and kills her, but ***** slaps Zeus all around Olympus and he is still alive.

I wonder if they will bring in someone like Hercules.

Well, remember that Zeus is a God, the most powerful God actually. It might seem as if you were beating the crap out of Zeus, but in reality, you weren't causing him any harm. A mortal just can't defeat a good. That's why Kratos had to find Pandora's Box in order to have any chance of defeating Ares in the first game.

Athena died because she was stabbed with the Blade of Olympus, it wasn't an ordinary sword as you may know. At the end, Kratos knew that that blade was his only chance against Zeus, so he tried to make it look like he was giving up and then surprise him. It would have worked if it wasn't for Athena sacrificing herself.

But Kratos did kick Zeus's butt hole with the Blade of Olympus. I am pretty sure he stabbed him with it a couple of times.

Yeah, he did hit him a couple of times throughout the battle, but apparently not enough to actually kill him. I don't remember a direct stab, though.
