View Full Version : 3rd Rounder for Pacman?
SARGO127 02-23-2007, 05:08 PM The Titans are reportedly "actively shopping" troubled CB Pacman Jones.
Profootballtalk.com reports the Titans could take as little as a third-round pick in exchange for Jones. Moving him would cost them $5.4 million, but the Titans have plenty of breathing room to withstand the cap hit

RyansTitans 02-23-2007, 05:10 PM Im going to go throw rocks at my house for the next 10 minutes
please tell me this shiz is fake...
Vigsted 02-23-2007, 05:32 PM We'd be dumb to take a 3rd. An early-mid 2nd I could live with, but no lower than that.
SARGO127 02-23-2007, 05:43 PM Anything lower than a first rounder is bad value for us.
Vigsted 02-23-2007, 05:47 PM Anything lower than a first rounder is bad value for us.
Yes, but nobody will give that I think. If they want to dump him from a PR standpoint, then they might have to settle for a 2nd.
nigel 02-23-2007, 05:52 PM If we get a second for him right now, then Mike Reinfeldt is the greatest thing that ever happened to this franchise. Half the teams in the league wouldn't sign him right now if he was a free agent.
bigtitan53279 02-23-2007, 05:54 PM no no no.
RyansTitans 02-23-2007, 05:58 PM no no no.
Exactly. HES NOT GOING ANYWHERE!!!
PhiSlammaJamma 02-23-2007, 06:24 PM I'd take a second. No problem. But I'd rather have Pac Man back as you don't find elcetrifying players too often. and he's one of 'em.
SupDawg 02-23-2007, 06:25 PM I want a 2nd for him...
RyansTitans 02-23-2007, 06:29 PM I want a cup of stfu for him
Slackmaster 02-23-2007, 06:29 PM I'd rather have Pacman as well.
But you don't see him in front of a camera expressing sympathy for the injured.
You don't here him go on record about how foolish little thug games like "making it rain" really is, and how he never thought a tragedy could result from what in hindsight was a stupid thing to do.
In short, you don't see contrition. And without contrition, I don't really want to see him playing anywhere.
That is the issue, not just him playing for us, but a matter of kicking thugs out of the league.
I would trade him to Oaklnad for Randy Moss
RyansTitans 02-23-2007, 06:32 PM yeah..
Gunny 02-23-2007, 06:45 PM But you don't see him in front of a camera expressing sympathy for the injured.

He was probably advised not too by his lawyer until the whole mess is over with.
RyansTitans 02-23-2007, 06:50 PM argh somethign please happen with this story so we can all stop talking about it
TitanJeff 02-23-2007, 07:13 PM Unless the Titans know more than what the LVPD are telling, there's no way they are shopping someone they don't know will even be on a field in '07.
oochymp 02-23-2007, 10:03 PM He was probably advised not too by his lawyer until the whole mess is over with.
Anything he might say that would show sympathy could be twisted and used as a confession (ever heard 'anything you say can and will be used against you in the court of law'?) I'm sure he was advised by his attorney not to talk at all.
PeterParker 02-23-2007, 10:07 PM If he's traded for another top cornerback and/or top defensive end that might work for this team. But a thirdrounder? That's as insane as he is.
RyansTitans 02-23-2007, 10:08 PM exactly spiderman
GoTitans3801 02-23-2007, 10:45 PM This isn't the point where we'd have a trade. It's way too unstable. But I'd take a decent 2nd rounder, no matter what the outcome of the current fiasco. Too many separate issues.
I think the suit from Ms. Webb was total bs, and was a perfect example of someone making him a target, and that was thrown out, but there have been too many things now... 8 times being interviewed by the police in less than two years... how does anyone respond to that?
Big TT 02-24-2007, 03:33 AM yeah..
:suspect:
RyansTitans 02-24-2007, 03:51 AM :suspect:
What?
i said yeah cuz someone said trade him for moss.
sarcasticly.
like
yeah...
danny 02-24-2007, 07:16 AM IMO, I don't think any team at this point would want to touch Jones. The commish is looking to make examples of AHOLES and Jones just may be his poster boy. Depending on what the LVPD (as Jeff said) finds out, Jones' future on the field in 2007 is very cloudy to say the least. It all depends on what comes out of the latest Jones' investigation to gauge what Jones' marketability is, if the Titans even can or want to move him.
You've got Williams murdered in Colorado not even two months ago and now Jones at the scene of a shooting where 3 people were hit, one in the head and another paralized. At what point does not only the Titans, but the NFL say enough is enough.
I feel bad for Fisher, he's gone to bat for this guy time and time again but he just doesn't seem to want to change. How long before you play in traffic until you get hit ?
No one is asking anyone to be choir boys. They're just asking professional athletes to act like professionals. Listening to Sirius, Fisher called Jones "Adam" (also noted in Tennessean), I'm suprised he didn't just call him "AHOLE".
IMO, I don't think any team at this point would want to touch Jones.
Exactly, we may be lucky to get a 3rd rounder out of a guy who may not even be playing next season. Pacman is one of the most exciting players in the NFL, but at the same time he has put a black eye on this organization. Let's face it, he has been trouble here since the beginning from getting in bar fights to holding out on training camp. At some point we will have to let him go. This used to be deemed a classy organization when we had guys like Steve and Eddie, now guys like Albert and Pac have tarnished our image.
oochymp 02-25-2007, 09:44 PM This used to be deemed a classy organization when we had guys like Steve and Eddie, now guys like Albert and Pac have tarnished our image.
That's what's really pissing me off about Pac, but I think as long as we build the team around Vince we can return to that classiness that made me a Titans fan to begin with, if anyone can restore class to this organization, I think it's the combo of Vince and Fisher.
bigtitan53279 02-25-2007, 10:31 PM This used to be deemed a classy organization when we had guys like Steve and Eddie, now guys like Albert and Pac have tarnished our image.
didnt steve have a DUI? i remember people calling for finnegan's departure for a DUI, but it's ok for steve and he's "classy"
GoTitans3801 02-25-2007, 11:13 PM The reaction to Finnegan wasn't too bad, mostly because a lot of people didn't know who he was.
I think people judge DUIs less because they can understand how they happen a little better. It doesn't mean it's any less dangerous or more acceptable, but it does effect the reaction.
theprizdfighter 02-26-2007, 12:37 AM We have to get Clements if Pac is gone.
GLinks 02-26-2007, 12:51 AM We have to get Clements anyway.
Pacman is an awesome player. No draft pick is going to replace his playing ability. Oh, and if he's not in jail, there'll be teams that want him. Heck, Atlanta off the top of my head. To cover up for DeAngelo Hall.
GLinks 02-26-2007, 12:56 AM If nothing comes of it, the Titans organization needs to give him a serious intervention and put what this all means into perspective for him. And cut ties if that fails again at some point. Doing it right now when we don't have to would be an utter waste, IMO, of potential, not only in a human being but a business/FO perspective.
Carpy 02-26-2007, 01:19 AM One thing is for sure - This situation would be a whole lot easier if Pacman played like Andre Woolfolk.......
oochymp 02-26-2007, 04:18 PM One thing is for sure - This situation would be a whole lot easier if Pacman played like Andre Woolfolk.......
If Pac played like Woolfolk he wouldn't have been drafted because of his history and if he was drafted he wouldn't have lasted two years
zackmann 02-26-2007, 04:41 PM i'd rather keep pacman than deal him for a 3rd rounder...
SARGO127 02-26-2007, 04:51 PM i'd rather keep pacman than deal him for a 3rd rounder...
I think everyone feels the same way.
LT21Titans27 02-28-2007, 10:07 PM If the titans trade away or cut PacMan, it would be in Rienfeldts best interest to hire a body guard, and hide, for a very, very long time, possibly move to another country if he truly valued his life. Cuz i will not be a happy camper, that is for sure, PacMan is my boy, we go back..., well, idk if we go back, but hes my boy

From Webster's: Rotoworld = fake
Sledge 02-28-2007, 10:44 PM I want a 2nd for him...
Only thing I want in return is a top 10 pick. You then select Ted Ginn, who replaces Pac as a PR, you get a deep threat, then you sign Clements. That is the only scenario that will make me swallow losing Pac. Highly unlikely, but it's the only one. I say shop him to Miami, they need help in the secondary, and Miami is a perfect spot to score some cheap, good quality weed...
Sledge 02-28-2007, 11:02 PM This isn't the point where we'd have a trade. It's way too unstable. But I'd take a decent 2nd rounder, no matter what the outcome of the current fiasco. Too many separate issues.

So essentially, you don't care that the Titans would go back to a 4-12 team, you'd rather take a chance on a 2nd rounder who may not pan out and basically end up with nothing? This isn't about you, this isn't about any image, it's about football, and football-wise, unless Pac actually kills or rapes someone, I'll deal with the police interviews for another couple of years...

I personally despise DUIs. It's the exact same thing as what pacman did. He didn't kill anyone, but could have. No difference, and while Pacman is outta control, someone who gets a DUI actually had a level head, then went out to drink fully knowing he was to get behind the wheel afterwards, and still got drunk and actually drove his car. So having said that, who's stupider, DUI dummies or Pacman? That's the real question. Pacman is a thug and Odell Thurman isn't? Gimme a break people

let the Titans cut him or trade him to the Montreal Alouettes. Then you can be happy :ha:

Man, just to think what he can do returning kicks on a field that's 55 yards wide...
oochymp 03-01-2007, 12:40 AM Miami is a perfect spot to score some cheap, good quality weed...
Idk, Ricky Williams decided he had to go to California to get the good stuff

It's cuz he don't know where to look :)

The Titans would go back to a 4-12 team without Pacman? Yes, it was clearly our defense that got us to 8-8. Pacman may not pan out in the next few years if he's suspended or in jail. So yes, I'd rather take a decent 2nd rounder, as I said above.
Titanpride 03-01-2007, 02:55 PM If the titans trade away or cut PacMan, it would be in Rienfeldts best interest to hire a body guard, and hide, for a very, very long time, possibly move to another country if he truly valued his life. GoTitans3801 03-01-2007, 02:57 PM Why is he your boy? He's not even the best athlete on our team, he's not a good leader, and he's clearly not a good person off the field...
Banshee2 03-01-2007, 03:05 PM Maybe not our defense, but Pac DID score a couple-three TDs on Special teams...
Again, people, this IS America - "innocent until proven guilty"
And DUIs for professional athletes are RE-donkulous. You make $8 mil a year, but you can't spring $25 for a cab home? OR $50 for the round trip? Or hell, pay a guy $20 to drive you around all night. I'd do it for free just to say I drove Steve McNair around on a random Thurs.
oochymp 03-01-2007, 03:07 PM Or hell, pay a guy $20 to drive you around all night. I'd do it for free just to say I drove Steve McNair around on a random Thurs.
That would be awesome, in fact they could probably get people to pay to have the priviledge to do it, just advertise it as 'spend an evening with McNair' :ha:
GoTitans3801 03-01-2007, 03:08 PM He did score several times. I still don't think we'd be even close to a 4-12 team without him.
