View Full Version : Titans make offer to Stallworth
Receiver Donte' Stallworth now has three offers, and could end up with more.
Per a league source, Stallworth has received a contract offer from the Titans. He previously has received offers from the Eagles and the Patriots.
Despite claims that the Eagles have not made Stallworth an offer, we're told he was offered a one-year deal, possibly with a value of $1.5 million.
Stallworth currently is visiting the Dolphins. Miami G.M. Randy Mueller drafted Stallworth when Mueller held the same position with the Saints.
And we're hearing that the 49ers are now interested in Stallworth. At this point, it has not yet been decided whether Stallworth will visit San Fran.
We'd previously heard that Stallworth planned to make a decision by Friday. The arrival onto the scene of the Niners could change those plans.
oochymp 03-08-2007, 02:30 PM Link? and will the 49ers ever run out of cap space? they're building for a quick fall if they outbid NE's reported $32 mil deal
Spinnaker 03-08-2007, 11:25 PM did we really offer stallworth a contract or is that a rumor?
GoTitans3801 03-08-2007, 11:57 PM It's a rumor. Profootballtalk reported it early today, but no one else has.
TitanJeff 03-09-2007, 09:04 AM The City Paper also said it though it sounded like speculation based on other reports and not confirmed.
RyansTitans 03-09-2007, 09:07 AM :scared: Pleaseeeee I want himmm...
Banshee2 03-09-2007, 03:09 PM Me too, but I don't wanna break the bank to get him
Spinnaker 03-09-2007, 07:32 PM well i'd rather break the bank on him than a first round wide receiver
GLinks 03-10-2007, 07:04 PM We're going to need to draft a WR regardless from the looks of things.
I bet we offered Stallworth something, just not as splashy as the Patriots. If we tried the one-year scenario where he could be a FA next, that wouldn't surprise me either.
The NFL Network reports free agent Donte' Stallworth and the Dolphins are expected to continue contract negotiations through the weekend.
Stallworth was made an unspecified offer by Miami late last week. Clearly looking to upgrade from Marty Booker, the 'Fins may have emerged as Stallworth's top choice among the Patriots, Eagles, and Titans.

KptTitanFan 03-11-2007, 07:08 AM I wasn't trying to point out anything about over paying players, it happens every year in the NFL. I'm just being a little sarcastic to point out that we really aren't going to get any players if you don't offer the right money. Sure we might look like hero's if a player we scheduled for an interview goes to another team and has a crappy year, but sometimes a little money can go a long way. Not every player we find can be let's say a steal/find like KVB or haha Lamont Thompson...
Big TT 03-11-2007, 07:26 AM Look, it is becoming more and more obvious that under the new leadership team of Fisher/Reinfeldt we are going to build thru the draft first and foremost, with any additions coming from FA being role player type of guys. I for one am glad that we are doing this.
Soxcat 03-11-2007, 08:58 AM So, thats almost every teams stategy with just a few exceptions.
The thing is you have to draft well which doesn't work out well all the time.
Also, I'm glad we signed Hope, Thornton and Mawea last year aren't you? What were the odds we could have drafted all those positions and ended up with players that good?
Some will say, "yea but if we draft a young OC we can have him for years to come". Oh really? When their rookie contract is up, if they are real good, in other words you did a kick butt job of drafting, some other team will just out bid you for their services.
Building a team is a delecate balance of drafting and then filling holes where poor draft picks and injuries didn't yield what you wanted. We have holes now that need to be addressed.

Another miss for Renf---. He's doing good so far ain't he? Might as well offer our first pick for Mike Furrey now, cuz apparently he doesn't care to make this team a little better...

MR did a great job in not over paying for Stallworth who is always injured every season.
So stop crying like a little girl. :whiner:
