FISHER, ADAMS AT ODDS ON RAIN MAN?

David Climer of the Nashville Tennessean writes that there are rumors that the latest problems involving cornerback Rain Man Jones have owner Bud Adams and coach Jeff Fisher taking different positions on how to deal with Jones.

Adams, as the theory goes, thinks that there is too much time and money invested in the talented but troubled two-year pro to justify cutting him. Fisher, on the other hand, is supposedly ready to move on.

Climer also suggests that Jones' failure to disclose his February 2006 and March 2006 could be a violation of Jones' contract, and that as a result the team could possibly "jettison Jones without taking a significant financial hit."

Frankly, this makes no sense to us. The CBA makes it clear that a team's options for disciplining a player are limited, and any clause in an individual player contract to the contrary is generally prohibited. Also, there's no provision in the CBA (to our knowledge) that would give a team cap relief if it elects to launch a turd.

So, if the Titans choose to cut Rain Man, they'll take the full acceleration of his unallocated signing and option bonus money. And they'd potentially face a grievance alleging that the release violates the CBA.

Who owns the team? :banned:

I think he'd be the winner.

They are both right though.

They need to be positioned to move on, but play the kid as hard as they can while he is under contract and out of jail.

Maybe he will wake up and keep out of trouble, but who knows?

The damage that dealing with his high profile troubles is not good for the team, and one would think at the least that part of things would be obvious to him.

Didn't Fisher want Leinart and Bud want Young...?

Don't end up like Marty and go with the flow, don't make Bud turn into Jerry Jones on you

Support Pac or not, we "have a plan"... The fall back plan could have been getting one of the top CB's on the market. As for now who knows about this situation, but we better hope Pac makes it back or our defense will be the same if not worse than last season.

David Climer has a personal vendetta against Pacman, and is spearheading a one man campaign to get rid of him. I would not believe a word he says pertaining to Pacman. Anything he writes about Pacman will be negative, biased, and designed to stir up public sentiment against Pacman, and should be filed under the letter W(wastebasket).

What Climer mentions could be true.
But, keep one thing in mind..........
Climer is an idiot. He ranks right up there with George Plaster on the Nashville media idiocy meter.

well if Fisher doesn't punish Pokemon, it makes him look bad since he said no more strikes 2-3 incidents ago.

didn't Fisher want Pac while Bud wanted Rolle? or was that a Fisher/Reese conflict? I remember Fisher wanted Pac in the draft and someone wanted Rolle instead, but I don't remember who was on the other side

he should make him play Linebacker and Gunner

exactly.

Anyone remember Harvey "Whirlpool" Williams. Excellent finesse back for the Chiefs, but very crisBrown like in his ability to play with pain. Traded to the Raiders and Granny Al converted him to TE. That opened up a roster slot with Whirlpools retirement - lol

Bud always wins in these tussles. Bud is tired of losing and often leaves games early if the team is doing bad. He knows that if Pac is gone, then the team becomes less competitive. Yes, Bud wanted Young while the rest of the coaching staff wanted Leinart.

But what Climer is failing to mention is that Bud's Grandson is now in the mix. He has become the "representative", attending all the games and going into the locker room and giving post game pep talks. The Grandson is still attending college and has a different view about Pac's "incidents" than would an older team owner.

Bud has the right approach, IMO. All business. I understand Fisher's POV, though -- he really stuck his neck out for Pacman on more than one occasion. The frog and the scorpion... But I want to keep Pac. We all went gaga over the possibility of having Pac and Nate Clements, but I still like the idea of Pac and Harper, or possibly Chris Houston, Leon Hall or Eric Wright as well.

I think we need Pac. Cuttin him is a step back, and from the looks of free agency, we dont need any of those. He's jus young. He will mature, I jus hope it on our team. . . BTW "I MAKE IT RAIN ON 'EM!"

Pacman will NOT be cut. the only way he's not a Titan next season is if the NFL office says it, the guy has too much talent to throw him out, he'd be signed immediately, probably to something that would make Nate Clement's deal look small (ok, I'm not actually sure if anything could do that, but you get the idea)
