View Full Version : UT v. Ohio State...

I don't have a long history with college basketball, but that game was ridiculous. They probably called three times as many fouls as they should have. Halfway through the second half, an ohio state player tripped at midcourt with no one around him, and they called a foul. We rewound and watched it three times. Bad calls went both ways, but that was a terribly called game.

Congrats to Ohio State. Wish we could have actually seen it played out.

You're a Buckeyes fan, a Cavs fan. Why are you a Titans fan? Just out of interest.

RyansTitans
03-23-2007, 12:58 AM
Well. Everyone starts likeing sports team for the rong reason right? Some of them like there hometown team and some of them just like a player from that team. The reason I started likeing the Titans is because of Eddie George. I never really had a NFL team and I decided wherever he gets drafted that will be my team. So yeah. Started likeing Houston and have been ever since.

How about that Oden block at the end. Sucks hes leaving after this year. :(

texdude2006
03-23-2007, 03:10 AM
Oden is nasty defensively, but he needs to step up his offensive game. They made their run when he was out of the game.

RyansTitans
03-23-2007, 03:12 AM
He switched to shooting right handed and hes doing a little better. He made 2 critical free throws near the end of the game.

texdude2006
03-23-2007, 03:47 AM
he shoots free throws very well. i was just saying in the grand scheme of things his offense is his weakness. It seems like all he can do is slam dunk off of rebounds offensively. He's still a beast though.

RyansTitans
03-23-2007, 04:04 AM
I wish he would demand to play for the Cavaliers and say he wont play unless he gets traded. That would be our missing piece to the puzzle.

PhiSlammaJamma
03-23-2007, 05:14 AM
There is a reason he is considered the best player in the game. And it ain't because he sucks. This guy is the real deal. The Block at the end of the game shows you all you nee know. He steps up. You can name the players who do that on one hand. And Ohio State has two such players.

They should win the championship.

TN had some real scoring talent to compete, but Ohio State is solid on both ends of the court. TN was not. They were just better. Memphis probably has the best shot to beat them, cause frankly, memphis is just as big as they are, but Memphis cannot score. I watched them play UH and the only reason they won was because they were a foot taller. They only play big. And that won't cut it vs OSU. No other team can compete with OSU. I think this is the championship right here.

oochymp
03-23-2007, 10:43 AM
I'll tell you who can beat OSU, Georgetown. They've got at least three players that can just take over a game (Hibbert, Green, and Ewing Jr.) and they've got the players to complement with Sapp, Summers, and Wallace. If Hibbert and Green stay for their senior years (Hibbert has already said he's staying four years, we'll see tho) we'll be repeating.

I hate the buckeyes, i mean they called a foul w/ about 5 minutes left where conley was "touched" by a vol and then he took a few more steps and tripped over himself and they called a foul on Duke Crews. There was some very sh!#y reffing last night. The vols shoud have won, but at least the vols have a bright future w/ all these freshman coming back and Lofton and J. Smith next year, we will be even better next year, San Antonio here we come...

Im not trying to start anything with anybody.. but.. if the Vols would have won that game you wouldnt be sitting here saying how many fould got called that shouldnt have been. There was some missed calls on Tennessee too. Just let it slide. What happened , happened.

I can agree that we didnt capatalize on lots of opportunities...(Bradshaw's easy bucket, Lofton's open 3 pointer missed, FREE THROW LINE..:grrr: ) But the refs made bad calls all game, just like in the first game against OSU, when Jamar Butler stepped out of bounds w/ 1.6 seconds but they didnt count it. And just for the record Kansas is winning it all, OSU will beat Memphis but then loose to UNC or the Hoyas. We will be even better next year, count on it.

What a choke job by UT. Up by 20 & they lose the game? That's pathetic.

By the way, did anyone happen to see UT play defense in the 2nd half? They must have thought they were the Pheonix Suns & could just outscore OSU.

Oden changed that game. His influence was everywhere. That block off the top of the glass was ridiculous, and set the stage for the momentum swing. He never seems to be happy, like he's playing in angst, but he's in total control out there. He's a grade above everyone on the court.

I think he secured the number one pick with that game. As far as the NBA, I just don't know how good he will be. I think at minimum he'll be as good as Kenyon Martin just because he's so strong. He would need to demand the ball to up his level to that of Webber or Yao. The league needs him to be in Boston. So I hope he goes there, but Memphis with Gasol, Gay, and Oden could be Ferocius. Charlotte would also have some serious firepower for the first time.

RyansTitans
03-25-2007, 05:53 AM
I want him on the Cavs :(

Anyways. I know hes going first because how can a team pass up on a potential dominate center? You could be looking at the next Yao or Shaq. Im not taking anything way from Durant because the guy is beastly but theres just no way you can pass up on Oden..

Not so fast my friend.

Green & Conley Jr. will be a great match up at the point with MC having the slight advantage. Im guessing Humphrey will probably play Butler, both of which are 3 point shooters. At the 3, Brewer will absolutely man handle Ron Lewis on both ends of the floor. I admit Oden will probably have the advantage down low, but Noah & Horford will not give him anything as both play with high energy & toughness.

Florida repeats fellas.

I don't mind Noah, but I think he is overrated as far as the nba draft. I don't think his game will translate. If he was the definitive leader of Florida, then I might give him some bonus points for leadership, but I don't even see him as a player who can elevate his team. He will have a role in the nba, but I don't think he should be a lottery pick.
