"Redskins informed the Bears they would deal their first-round pick, No. 6 overall, for the Bears' first-rounder, No. 31 overall, and Briggs, who is a two-time Pro Bowl player." - si.com

Washington where good players get over paid and ruin their careers.

I heard the Bears didn't like the offer and were mad that the Skins leaked it

The Bears should take the offer IMO. Briggs is a dominating player but they already have a pro-bowl level LB. The Bears could get a real nice player with the #6 pick or trade down and grab some extra picks. Briggs is going to be very expensive for the Bears to keep.

I think Chicago's front office is crazy for not resigning Briggs. The guy is a beast. They would have to be stupid to take this deal.

The bears tagged him which means he is making the average of the top 5 LBs. He doesn't think that is enough or wants it in a long term deal.
The value of trading briggs is that they will likely lose him next year anyway unless they plan on tagging him again but next year they will have other players to worry about.
Briggs is due $7.2M this year. Joey porter just signed a deal with the fins for just over $6M a year. What is he complaining about?..
I think he is stupid because chicago is the right system for him and he might get lost somewhere else.

Can't tag twice in a row anymore.

The prblem with tagging players is they refuse to participate in camp and they can be porblems in the locker room. As far as the Bears making the deal they should in a second, without hesitation. They can actually make an improvement to their defense IMO by drafting Landry (an Ed Reed type clone)and S is a need right now. They could also trade down, pick up extra picks and still get Willis to replace Briggs. Why not move a guy, as good as he is, that is going to be expensive and you might not be able to keep when you can draft cheaper replacements.

Willis is an inside linebacker in a 3-4. Briggs plays outside. I would say Chicago is a bad system for him, since the Bears, by design, funnel everything to Urlacher. If I'm Chicago, I'm gonna pay him whatever he wants. But, if they are certain that he wants out and there is nothing they can do to change his mind, this seems like a good opportunity. Washington, as usual, is retarded.

For a team that made the Superbowl they seem to be interested in getting rid of key players.

It's no secret that Chicago's organization is known as one of the most ridiculously stingy financial teams in the league...
