Forget Turner, Go get Larry, the other #27. Just saw it on Fox Sports.com, maybe this isn't new news.

If this is true lets go all out on this one...

Id take Larry Johnson for anything.

1st this year , 3rd this year , 2nd next year.

I think if he ends up anywhere it will be Buffalo

He's on the downside of his career.

The Gloat
04-21-2007, 06:57 PM
^lol, you serious? He had 1,700-something yards last season and 1,700 the year before that as well. He's only been in the league about 4-5 years.
Makes me smile though, remembering back to when everyone doubted LJ, and I said he was the best RB in the draft. Though there were only 2 big ones, and I said McGahee would recover fine from his injury.

RyansTitans

Wasent this guy just put in the starting role like 2 years ago?

Titans2008
04-21-2007, 07:39 PM
Think he spent 5 years at Penn State though...

I suspect he still has 3 more very good years. Can't ask for much more than that from someone you aren't drafting.

Puck
04-21-2007, 08:32 PM
the sad thing is that we had the opportunity to draft him in '03
he went exactly one spot ahead of us and my heart grieved the moment KC selected him. He and Vermeil did not get along and once Dick called on LJ to take off his diapers :ha:

I'd love to hear the early bids for his services

Riverman

LJ is a stud back- great hands also. He's got about 5 years left in the tank at a premiere level.

No way Chiefs let him go. My impression was a trade was doubtful at best.

:gag:
Yeah and he just carried a very mediocre team into the playoffs as recently as last season...

Puck

weird but true :

LJ had 80 less carries in '05 then in '06
however, he only gained 39 more yards
..and scored 3 less TD's
... and shaved a full yard of his average

Richardson GONE
Shields GONE

I dont need to go any further to show you that this was the problem, thats like Lt losing Neal

Lt and LJ are both great, but you cant put them on Oakland and expect them to put up the same #s for example

:truedat:

now consider what takes place when you remove key cogs from in front of him and then hand him the ball a combined 450 times

as a comparison - Travis Henry combined for 288 touches

Herm Edwards is doing with Johnson the same he did with Curtis Martin

LJ would want a $95million signing bonus. He's kinda a crabby/complainer type too.

You have it wrong. Richardson gone, ROAF gone. Shields, Black and possibly Wiegmann gone this year too. Now guess why he wants out?

I'd seriously make a huge run at him. We have a good backup here, a young one, and our OL is rock solid, plus we got VY :ha:

If no one gave Alexander a 1st round pick, no one will give LJ one after the load he has carried the past two seasons.

No way we make that type of committment, not this organization. Getting johnson means a high cost in day one draft picks and what $10M against the cap? They will never even make an offer..

I think johnson is only the second back ever to have 1700+ yards in back to back seasons.. Eric dickerson in his first 2 seasons was the first. He is a helluva player..

I think Mike's gettin' a little bad rap here
(not that he's going to, but) if MR wanted to take a shot at LJ I'm sure he could pull some cards. The fact that AJ Smith, Bus Cook and Michael Turner have even spoken with him is an indication that he was a player
He's just not gowing to overpay "just because"

TitanKid4Life
04-22-2007, 09:54 PM
i would rather have turner, because he would cost a bunch less, and we might get close to the same production from him as they do LJ

Rumor has it the

mods can you move this to rumor mill now???

you guys, read the article, its a big rumor, im pretty sure the chiefs wouldnt go out and trade the face of there franchise, one he hasnt been a bust, two he isnt complaining about it, and 3 he loves it there and he is always a major factor in games.

Woody81
04-25-2007, 07:21 PM
KFFL reporting the Cheifs are "shopping" LJ to the Titans, Packers and Bills. I assume they would want atleast a 2nd probably a first.

What are the chances Monday comes and we don't have a new starter?

The Gloat

1700 yards last season. 1700 the year before. Eddie George was never at the level LJ is at right now.

Gunny
04-25-2007, 07:51 PM
and you really think he can keep that up?

742 carries in the past two seasons.

He'll be dead in 3 years. Thus the Post 2000 Eddie comment.

The Gloat
04-25-2007, 07:55 PM
Let's hope our GM doesn't base a player the caliber of LJ on some past player like our fans do.

DCtitan49
04-25-2007, 07:55 PM
this is nothing but a rumor, on sportscenter i just heard the chiefs are trying to renegotiate larry johnsons contract, he is the chiefs offense, i can assure every poster LJ will be an Chief in 2007-08, even if we did land him, hes a free agent at the end of the season, and hes a huge money sucker. if we can get him and end up with a long term contract for him, yes but anything else is untrue and no i dont want him.

Titans2008
04-25-2007, 08:03 PM
The reason they would shop him is if he does not want to resign or they are in a rebuilding mode and don't want one player taking up that much cap room. Either scenario is believable to me, but I would suspect they would want a 1st rounder. I would probably drop our first for him.

titan_fan_4ever
04-25-2007, 08:17 PM
i no they want at least a first for him...but personally i think we should try to get him for something else...lendale i think we used him wrong...if we knew we were gonna get rid of henry we shoula played him enough for teams to c his potential and ive checked it out his yards per carry are good @ 4.0 and he was always 2nd string w/o good practice time.

i think we should try to get larry for a 3rd + lendale....that way w/ the first/2nd we can get a DE/WR and use the rest for depth/compeition

and that way...next yr if we cant afford him...we can draft a RB w/ the first b/c we dont have many glarrin needs past that (assuming we get pac back, and this yr a reciver/DE w/ the 1st/2nd)

GoTitans3801
04-26-2007, 02:25 PM
PFT had up that the packers offered a 1st and a 4th for LJ. If they picked up him and Moss they would really have an upgraded offense. Doubt both would happen though.

DCtitan49
04-29-2007, 09:54 PM
first of all even if we did trade for him, which were not, he is already about to be running on "E" with the load KC forced him to carry, and he would give us cap hell again.
