Tue, 24 Apr 2007 15:12:52 -0700
Nicholas Cotsonika, of the Detroit Free Press, reports the Denver Broncos have made two offers to the Detroit Lions involving the the second overall pick, according to the Denver Post. The first offer included LB Al Wilson and the Broncos' first-round pick. The second offer involved the Broncos' first-, second- and third-round picks in the 2007 NFL Draft, as well as their first-round pick in the 2008 NFL Draft.

Seems like a big bet of the future on one player IMO. Anyones thoughs on if we should look to make a similar type trade?

Word out of Denver:
An NFL source says the Detroit Lions will trade their No. 2 overall draft pick, but will entertain offers only from teams with picks 3 through 10. That means the Broncos, with their No. 21 pick, likely are too far away to move up and get Johnson, the Georgia Tech star who is widely regarded as the draft's most cherished prize.

Gutzy move by Denver if they pull it off. Great target for the ole Vandy QB.
Looking at my luck, they would honor the trade, I would give up all those draft picks this year and a big one in 08, and Johnson would injure both knees in a pre-season game! That's the way my luck goes. "If it weren't for bad luck, I'd have no luck at all".

Worst case scenario they lose CJ for the season and nother major loss that spirals them to a top 10 draft pick only to give it to the Lions to blow.

Makes sense. They're trying to give their young QB a weapon. Ah...if only our guys knew what they were doing.

If the Broncos trade to get the #2 it will have to be between the time the Faiders draft Russel and the Detroit pick. Any sooner and Davis will take Johnson without a thought. Leaving Denver in a weird spot and a hunger to trade there pick.

If this goes down they'll be lining up Calvin Johnson, Javon Walker, Rod Smith and Brandon Stokley at WR, Daniel Graham at TE and Travis Henry and Mike Bell at RB! Talk about surrounding your young QB with some serious weapons. This and they'll be slapping Dre Bly in there opposite Champ. Talk about an offseason. Okay I'm done talking about the Broncos. go titans.
