I so can't wait to see this in action, let alone play it!

2K may be on to something here. The classic players are so diverse. I could see a lot more retired players getting on board for this.

The Gloat
04-27-2007, 05:21 PM
Awesome! I didn't think they'd be able to use the NFL player's names. If you have or get GameInformer this past issue had a good bit of screen shots in it. The stadiums look awesome, but they've still got a lot of polishing to do on the players and things.
2 problems though:

No create team and no create player. No franchise either, but ah well.

Screenshots/GameInformer scans: http://www.2ksports.com/forums/showthread.php?t=115927

The detail is exciting, the way the players talk a lot and coaches do too. They mention how NFL licensing puts a lot of limitations on things like that, because they don't want to associate certain players with certain attitudes. Uhhhh. lol

There should be media of the game soon.

Wow, it actually looks like Jerry Rice. Most all the Madden players look exactly the same it seems. I've played franchise and seen 30 Keith Bullucks on other teams. Same exact face and all.
I hope 2k8 at least nails the simple things that Madden doesn't. Like, If I score a touchdown while being the AWAY team - the HOME crowd shouldn't be cheering. Or even better, when the ball is on the 20, maybe the crowd should be looking at the 20 instead of the 50. Small things like that irk me.

wtf!!!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!!?! It does say Thigpen! Is that Yancy! HOW in gods name is he in this game lmao

I believe Yancey will be one of the lower ranked legends. From what I am hearing, you will only be allowed so many legends when you draft your team.

The legends are ranked by Gold, Silver and Bronze and they limit how many players of each ranking you can have on your team.

lol nah man. They aint allowed to use current players because of the retarded "Contract" that EA has. I think its up next year.. idk.

To me Madden will always be my game.. but.. I cant say I wouldn't try something else.

Game play is pretty much all I care about. Yeah its nice to see some sweet graphics and stadiums but when it all comes down to it your playing a game and game play is what makes the game good. I don't care if you can see each individual blades of grass or dirt on the players cleats. Madden has been lacking lately and once the contract is up for EA I hope 2K does make a game and try to surpass Madden. Cuz then we get 2 great games because they will compete with each other.

Madden with no competition = crap
Madden with competition = yay

PAtitansfan53

I would bet that there will be custom teams and logos resembling their NFL counterparts available online shortly after the game is released.

People have been updating rosters on 2K5 keeping it up to date ever since EA purchased the exclusive NFL rights.

APF is going to give them even more options with its customization, I am assuming.

I read in an article that the NFL will not allow weather to affect the outcome of a game in their licensed NFL game (Madden). Since 2K does not have to answer to the NFL anymore, players will now slip and fall due poor footing and weather conditions.

I just thought it was strange that the NFL would make a decision like that, especially when weather is a huge part of the NFL.

Can't wait for July and August as it seems that both games are gonna be fun.

APF is going to be an online dream for me as teams will be unique since you draft/create them to your own spec. Couple that with online leagues and there is going to be some serious gaming going on.

While it does make zero sense, I could see the nfl doing that. They do it for the superbowl. But that is what we love about these games, the weather. Who doesn't get excited for the snow and rain games. I swear, I set up divisions just so I can play in the snow more.

The animations alone blow Madden away. They actually move like real people. Look around the 45 second mark and there's a Titans looking team.
I'm sure it'll get a lot more polished than this before it releases, but the player movements are great.

No two teams should be identical online. That will give this title a long life cycle and tremendous replay value.
