yea eddie betrayed us, deserves no right to get his jersey retired, one dark sin, can over come many good deeds.

Wonder why they clipped him away at Jags and not at home.

I want him to use his number.

Even tho I love Eddie and all I just think its time to move on and stop thinkin about him.

A number is a number.

27 is Griffins number

Why havent we retired it then?

I agree with you that will always be Eddie's number but since it aint retired why shoudlnt Mike be able to wear it?

Eddie isn't "technically" retired. It would be like us retiring Steve's number right now.

We don't really retire numbers anyway.

Well, we retired Moon's number despite him never playing a down for the Titans.

It got retired in an Oiler jersey tho.

I bet someone could still wear 1 for us.

Gary Anderson did.

Holy Crap?

Was that Steve Mcgee?

PitBull

LT's '28' would be a perfect number for him..

texdude2006

yeah that was McGee...if he finishes his college career not in a coma I will be surprised.

I would let Griffin wear #27. Why not. I could see not giving the number 27 out to a RB but why not let a defensive guy wear it? By the way, Griffin is going to be a stud.

GoTitans3801
05-01-2007, 09:06 AM
Eddie's number hasn't been retired, so he could wear it.

I'd rather see him in LT's number than Nickey's number, at least Nickey is good on special teams. Lamont isn't good ANYWHERE.

Refresh my memory someone..

I think it was 2003... playing the Panthers and someone absolutely destroyed a Panther player and they thought his neck was broke or something along those lines.

Who hit the Panther player?

I cant remember if it was L.T or not.

Gunny
05-01-2007, 09:44 AM
It was LT.

TitanJeff
05-01-2007, 09:50 AM
And his career has been on a downhill slide ever since.

The Gloat
05-01-2007, 07:46 PM
Yeah. He actually destroyed TWO panthers within a couple plays. Left them both layed out for quite a while. At that moment we were all amazed and thought we'd struck gold.
Unfortunately, it was some cruel joke. LT's first game he ever played he had 2 monster hits, and since then? Not one.

yeah the makeshift "retirement" of 89 and 27 is a joke. Wycheck might deserve that, but not George. I will be ticked if they don't let Griffin get his number for some stupid thing like that..

besides, if he had #27 I wouldn't have to pay 80 DOLLARS for a new jersey, I'll just take off the little name-patch thingy...

If only Chris Henry gets #20

is eddie in the HOF??? no
is moon in the HOF??? yes

verdict: griffin can wear the number, george wasnt good enough for it to be retired

Eddie isn't HOF eligible yet.

He won't be until five years after he retires, and he hasn't even retired yet.

when you're a team's all-time leading rusher it should at least be considered. it's not as simple as yes and no. but you're probably too young to remember eddie when he was in his prime.

TitanKid4Life
05-06-2007, 11:26 AM
probably so, because the only thing i remember about him is, he always fell forward, had the longest streak of not having a 20 yard run in the nfl, and he always danced around behind the LOS which really made me mad

FLTitansfan
06-04-2007, 12:54 AM
when did eddie dance behind the line? please you tube some proof!? he hit the hole and at the end of his career he always fell forward for at least 2 yards. And if it wasn't for the running game in 99 where the heck would the team have been? nowhere near 13-3 and in the super bowl. You people who are down talking eddie are the new vince young fans not oiler/titans fans griffin is going to be great but he doesn't need 27 to be good or bad like it's been said about eddie a number is a number.

no

The Gloat
06-07-2007, 03:32 PM
yeah, Eddie did a complete 180 at the end of his career. He once hit the hole hard and moved piles. Was extremely hard to bring down. Then, his last 3 seasons or so he did 'dance' behind the line, or at least wait for the d-linemen to hit him before he took 2 steps.
And he became extremely easy to take down. He'd trip over the LOS most the time.

FLTitansfan
06-12-2007, 03:39 PM
fred taylor was a dancer but he would break 20+ runs all day eddie wasn't a dancer per se he did more of a two step then he would lean with it and get rocked with it lol but seriously he was never much of a dancer he seemed to get real hesitant to hit the hole

The Gloat
06-12-2007, 03:45 PM
yeah, more hesitant than dancing. But once he got to the locker room, he'd always harlem shake after dropping his towel.
