No agenda here, just this story (http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_main.aspx?sport=NFL&id=2668).
Are you interested in our pursuing him?
He was a ballboy at USC when Fisher played there.

probably the best chance weve had to get a #1 reciever, becaues there arent many other teams keyshawn could go to, hes already played for 5 or 6

Keyshawn is not a #1 WR anymore. IDC if we get him or not he could help but only for a year or so and his impact won't be significant. He's a bt of a crybaby too so I'm not to high on an old possesion WR that has been going downhill for sometiome now.

It is still amazing that people think Key is a plague in the locker room mainly because Chucky had a tantrum. He has had issues in the past but it has been years. Talk about not giving a guy a second chance.
In '01 he put up 100 rec before he scored 1 TD. The media was licking its chops to see what would come out of Keys mouth. He never said a word until game 15 and told the media he was just doing his job and catching balls. Even when he finally said something it was more to the effect that he would like to get more looks in the red zone instead of always going to the run. Did not dog the coaches or his QB just said he wanted more looks, which is understandable.
In '02 he lead Tampa in receptions and recieving yards on the teams way to winning the super bowl.
In '03 Tampa starts to suck and who does chucky throw the book at? Key! Why well according to Gruden:
"For whatever reason he didn't want to be here. He let me know that some time after one of our early games," coach Jon Gruden said.
Sources also have told ESPN that the actions McKay considered as a distraction to the team include: Johnson missing Monday's mandatory team meeting; Johnson missing curfew twice on the night before games; and Johnson missing the team plane coming back from the team's loss in San Francisco, without offering an explanation.
Pretty soft reasons to bench a guy for 6 games. How has Gruden done since then as a coach? 1 season with a winning record.
Keyshaws response to the benching:
"Honestly, I'm very disappointed because I really wanted to win another championship with this team," he said. "I was never Gruden's guy. He never liked me. I told him I'd rather retire than play for him in 2004. But I also told him I wouldn't be a distraction, I wouldn't go to the media with it and I didn't. I don't know why they released me. I was playing hard, I wasn't dogging it. Tell everyone I'm in New York looking for apartments."
The numbers Key put up in the 10 games he did play in 03 were in line with his previous seasons. Ones he lead Tampa in the main WR categories.
Plus Hoge doesn't like the guy so that gives me one more reason to like him.

Fisher said tonight on NFL Network that Keyshawn used to carry his [Fisher's] books around USC. Because of their past relationship, surely he'd get along better here than Tampa Bay.

Hmm.. I must admit the first couple of days Johnson was available I think I really was hoping the Titans would go after him, but... after some thought and reflection I say its a bad move. Here is why:
#1 Our track record of recent free agent WR is not very good, anyone remember Yancey Thigpen, I must admit he was good until he was injured, what about Carl Pickens high hopes then soon after injured... David Givins a few games injured now maybee out most the season.
#2 We have done much better with talent selected in lower rounds or even undrafted free agents... Kevin Dyson great until knees injured, Derrick Mason, Drew Bennett, Justin McCarrens was ok done well for the Jets.
#3 We have a deep pool of potential young candidates and someone will emerge as a go to reciever. A Vet would be nice but bring someone who really wants to contribute and will rub off some really good points. Now KJ may be differnt than he was in NY, and TB but we need someone who wants to mentor young guys not pad stats.
