View Full Version : Which summer movie are you most looking forward to watching?
PitBull 05-08-2007, 04:19 AM I cant remember any summer with so many blockbusters being released.
If you could only watch one movie, which would you choose.
Mine has to be Shrek or Pirates cause i've already seen Spidey.
Gunny 05-08-2007, 04:59 AM esh that is a tough one.
I will probably go see them all but if one The Simpsons or Pirates 3 if I had to choose.
Childress79 05-08-2007, 08:33 AM You missed off the new Harry Potter movie & the 3rd Bourne movie dude.
I voted for Die Hard 4 but I can't wait to see the next pirates movie.
I'll be seeing:
Spiderman3 _saw it last night
Pirates
Oceans 13
Bourne Supremacy
Harry Potter
Die Hard 4
Transformers
We saw a trailer for Transformers last night & I have to saw it looked awesome.
Starkiller 05-08-2007, 09:42 AM Spiderman or Pirates
Gunny 05-08-2007, 09:46 AM Bourne 3 is a definite on my list.
RyansTitans 05-08-2007, 10:09 AM I seen Spidey on the comp but I wanna see it at the theater so yeah
GoTitans3801 05-08-2007, 10:12 AM Pirates, no, not that one, the one with Kiera.
oochymp 05-08-2007, 10:37 AM Fantastic Four 2, with Pirates as a close second (I'm leaving Spidey off because I already saw) the first Fantastic Four wasn't that good, but mainly because there just wasn't much action for a super hero movie, I'm hoping this one will have more.
BigRed3 05-08-2007, 11:13 AM I'll go with Pirates of the Carribean
nickmsmith 05-08-2007, 11:17 AM spider man 3 sucked.
avvie 05-08-2007, 02:32 PM Spidey and Transformers...although my expectations of Spidey have waned a bit. :(
Creeping-Cruds 05-08-2007, 04:41 PM Spiderman 3 - probably will wait till DVD
Shrek 3 - I'll definitely wait until the wife forces me to see this
Pirates of the Carribean 3 - I'll see it in the theater, maybe.
The Simpsons - I'll be there with bells on!
Fantastic Four 2 - Shame on Hollywood for ruining F4 the first time, I won't waste any $ on this crap.
Transformers - um no...
Live Free or Die Hard - DVD only
Ocean's 13 - hated the first two. No thanks to #3
Rush Hour 3 - why was this made at all?
So that leaves The Simpsons as my choice from the list. Now here's some stuff I really wanna see:
HOT FUZZ
28 WEEKS LATER
FAN BOYS
BUG
Rob Zombie's HALLOWEEN
I AM LEGEND
and some other stuff I'm forgetting...
Creeping-Cruds 05-08-2007, 04:48 PM the first Fantastic Four wasn't that good, but mainly because there just wasn't much action for a super hero movie
That movie sucked because the Hollywood jackasses that created it were (yet again) pandering to the lowest common denominator, brain-dead, knuckleheaded peckerwoods out there in consumer-land.
F4 could have been the superhero flick to end all superhero flicks, instead it was the worst one yet..
I give this film 2 middle fingers...
The Gloat 05-08-2007, 05:16 PM I've heard Spiderman 3 completed the series as a completely bad one. I guess transformers is on my list, and the Bourne movie. Others just seem like they'll be typical flop sequels, and the Simpsons can't even put together a funny tv show these days so an entire movie would be pushing it.
Creeping-Cruds 05-08-2007, 05:22 PM the Simpsons can't even put together a funny tv show these days so an entire movie would be pushing it.
Naw man The Simpsons has improved dramatically in the last two seasons compared to the drop-off of hilarity that occurred between 2001 - 2004 - "Worst seasons ever..".
Every couple years or so they get new writers, which is pretty noticable on that show..
For the movie they hand-picked the best writers from seasons past.. I think the flick will deliver..
KamikaZ 05-08-2007, 05:23 PM Transformers, Pirates, Live Free/Die Hard, and Simpsons is all that I'm checking for...
TitanKid4Life 05-08-2007, 07:04 PM oceans 13 because a bunch of my friends told me that spiderman 3 sucked
Starkiller 05-08-2007, 07:14 PM Can't be as bad a Oceans 12 was. What a stinker...
RyansTitans 05-08-2007, 07:16 PM They made a sequel for that? Sheesh
TitanKid4Life 05-08-2007, 07:17 PM yea oceans 11 was amazing, i was very dissapointed with 12 hopefully 13 will be better, from what i have seen tho it looks really promising

PitBull 05-09-2007, 04:45 AM I'm surprised nobody voted for Rush Hour 3..
I really enjoyed 1 & 2.
The trailer for 3 looked corny especially the part where Tucker meets a couple of chinese dudes and asks one for his name and he responds "you" and Tucker responds 'no, you', and the guy says yes my name is 'you' and they keep going at it and apparantely the other chinese dude's name is "mi" and that adds to the confusion..
silly... but i still wouldn't mind watching it.
The Gloat 05-09-2007, 04:47 AM Naw man The Simpsons has improved dramatically in the last two seasons compared to the drop-off of hilarity that occurred between 2001 - 2004 - "Worst seasons ever..".

Ah, I didn't know that. Although now I don't know if it'd be as good because I'm so obsessed with Family Guy.
PitBull 05-09-2007, 04:52 AM You missed off the new Harry Potter movie & the 3rd Bourne movie dude.
I could only list 10 poll results..
I haven't seen any of the Harry Potter series, is it good?
Is it a movie only kids would enjoy, or is more like 'lord of the rings' which is PG, but cleverly directed so adults would also enjoy?
PitBull 05-09-2007, 04:54 AM I'm so obsessed with Family Guy.
Me too..
i watched all 5 seasons in 3 weeks.
Stewie is a nut.
I'd still definitely watch the simpsons.. but probably not in the cinema.
Gunny 05-09-2007, 05:35 AM Ah, I didn't know that. Although now I don't know if it'd be as good because I'm so obsessed with Family Guy.
Family Guy has become pretty dreadful recently. Though I like Peter's fights with the Chickens.
Stewie is still funny but he has no longer evil.
Gunny 05-09-2007, 05:37 AM I haven't seen any of the Harry Potter series, is it good?
Is it a movie only kids would enjoy, or is more like 'lord of the rings' which is PG, but cleverly directed so adults would also enjoy?
They are good. Fairly true to the books.
It gets pretty dark after the 3rd book/movie and I find adults enjoy it.
Lord of the Rings can't be PG?
avvie 05-09-2007, 05:44 AM I never saw past the first one. I saw parts of the others, and the problem I had with them is that in every conflict, there's so much friggin magic going on and stuff appearing out of nowhere that I can never get a chance to feel suspense or connect with the characters. There's just way too much more in those flicks.

We watched the 1st 3 back to back & I liked them. I was predisposed to thinking I wouldn't enjoy them because they were aimed at kids but now I'm hooked.

Sounds like something i would like..
i guess i won't lose anything by downloading part1. If i enjoy, i'll buy the trilogy in the collector's edition box..
Lord of the Rings can't be PG?
I just checked and it is PG-13..
I really liked that movie. Movies like that can only be appreciated when viewed on the cinema's giant screen.

surprising it was PG.
my mum fell asleep during the first movie at the cinemas. I don't know how that was possible.
GoTitans3801 05-09-2007, 05:00 PM No one was really itching to get to rush hour 3? What a surprise... man, Chris Tucker must be broke.
Creeping-Cruds 05-09-2007, 05:13 PM No one was really itching to get to rush hour 3? What a surprise... man, Chris Tucker must be broke.
Man, whoever greenlit that turkey must be looking for a job now..
GoTitans3801 05-09-2007, 06:17 PM No kidding, some of these things should really cost people their jobs. Like the last two american pie movies that went straight to DVD and only had levy returning...
Hope it doesn't suck.....Transformers.
BigRed3 05-09-2007, 08:22 PM Where is Aqua Teen Hunger Force Colon Movie Film for Theaters?
TitanJeff 05-09-2007, 08:55 PM No love for Shrek?

i'd tick all the options if i could
:word:
But come on people, TRANSFORMERS!!!! :hyper:
The Simpsons could be great, but the other movies are mostly just sequals. Probably (hopefully) good sequals, but Transformers is bringing back some old school toy goodness. This is something you wait a long time for, and if it's good, it'll be a blast.
I've got my fingers x'ed that it'll be a winner.

The Gloat 05-09-2007, 09:33 PM Where is Aqua Teen Hunger Force Colon Movie Film for Theaters?
That's the one I'm anticipating most, but I assume it'll just be a long version of the regular cartoons.

I think there was more action in that preview than there was in the entire first movie, that was the one thing I didn't like about the first one, it took way too long to develop the characters and they did very little fighting.
TitanKid4Life 05-10-2007, 01:26 AM wow that movie looks really good, i never knew that silver surfer was a bad guy tho, what is he originaly from?
Gunny 05-10-2007, 02:55 AM he begins as a bad guy in the comics (or misunderstood)
Starkiller 05-10-2007, 01:44 PM It's certainly not a blockbuster, but I'm interested in seeing Michael Moore's movie this summer (Sicko) about the US healthcare system. But then I like a good documentary...

then why are you seeing Michael Moore?
Starkiller 05-10-2007, 09:12 PM then why are you seeing Michael Moore? He's an excellent filmmaker. Bowling for Columbine was a brilliant documentary, as was Roger & Me. Fahrenheit 9/11 was a half-documentary, half-propaganda film, but it was still extremely well made.
Gunny 05-10-2007, 09:35 PM Supersize me is also a load of propaganda crap.
johnnybow 05-10-2007, 09:42 PM Supersize me is also a load of propaganda crap.
That's about fast food, right? I didn't want to see it 'cuz I love fast food. Jack in the Box stuffed jalapenos and tacos rock.
Gunny 05-10-2007, 09:47 PM It doesn't prove anything anyway. The logic is flawed.
PitBull 05-11-2007, 07:20 PM how is 'Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone' different than 'Harry Potter and the Sorcerors stone'?
Starkiller 05-11-2007, 07:23 PM The movie was the same. The books were somewhat different just to have one be more British and the other more Americanized in terms of language. I never really understood the reason for the name change for America, though...
avvie 05-12-2007, 03:11 AM Supersize me is also a load of propaganda crap.
Ya'know, I would have liked to have thought of "SM" as a public service announcement.....
Then I moved to Hawaii.
For those of you who don't know: there is no such thing as the beautiful and sexy Hawaiian hula dancer. Every single native over the age of 12 is horribly overweight!! Many of them want their sovereign nation restored, but they wouldn't last very long....they're in such lousy shape that the Murfreesboro Girls Clubs Of America chapter could beat the crap out of them in a war. Most of the Hawaiian warriors would pass out from asphyxiation just running to grab their spears.
There is an epidemic of heart disease deaths and high blood pressure here. Why is this, you ask?
It's because of their horrible, horrible diet and eating habits. These people used to be pretty lean until the military showed up carrying crates of Spam. There are virtually no greens ever served in the islands, and nobody taught them the most basic rules of meal planning.
Now every single meal is served with two scoops of steamed rice and macaroni salad....breakfast, lunch, dinner, and in-between meal snacks. Meats are served with a slathering of 60-weight gravy.
How about a nice Loco Moco for breakfast? That's a hamburger patty on top of a mound of white rice, covered in brown gravy and topped with two fried eggs. MMMMM!!!!! Pass the defibrillator, brah!
It's very difficult to find anything worth eating here...starvation may drive me back to the mainland. You can't order anything here without making sure that you have an ambulance number pulled up on SpeedDial.
So, by comparison, McDonald's looks like it was founded by a joint effort from Richard Simmons and the American medical Association.

Avvie.. i envy you!
heck if i lived in Hawaii, i would work in an aquarium and be in the swimming pool and beach all day living like Adam Sandler in the flick '50 first dates'..
i would be having one night standers with as many female tourists as i can who are looking for an exclusive taste of the island.. and i sure as hell wouldn't be on the internet more than 30 minutes per week.
lucky you..
avvie 05-12-2007, 04:47 AM In an ideal world, that would be a great way to live life here. Unfortunately, everything is so expensive that you have to have 3 jobs all with overtime to live here. You have to remember that the female tourists don't pay for the vacations...their rich husbands do, and they spend all of their time at the hotel instead of travelling the island.
But on the upside, when you're someone like me who has no family and very, very few friends, it's good to sleep on the beach a lot and have a job that involves travelling to the other islands.
Speaking of which, I've written an article about that, but have nowhere to post it...my old roommate is moving back to the mainland to open a Mac store, and is shutting down the website in favor of a business site.
If anyone is interested in reading about the islands, PM me your e-dress and I'll send you the article.

Gunny 06-21-2007, 08:10 AM So far I have seen
Spiderman 3
Pirates of the Caribbean 3
Shrek 3
All three have not been the best. Slow start to a massive movie year.
Now I am looking forward to -
The Simpsons
Bourne Supremacy
Transformers
Childress79 06-21-2007, 08:38 AM I've seen
Spidey 3
POTC Dead mans chest
Shrek3
Oceans 13
I loved POTC but the rest were disapointing.
Oceans was slick but I just felt nothing watching it. Highly polished waste of time.
What was great though was at the beginning of the movie 3 guys were smoking pot & being loud & disruptive. After polite please be quiet requests were met with f off, some big dude walked right up to them & said loud enough for everyone to hear; "Shut the F up! If you make one more sound I will kick the f out of all 3 of you. Now DO YOU UNDERSTAND?"
The movie sucked but those 3 guys never made another sound.

Broken Record 06-21-2007, 11:13 AM Through a strange turn of events, I... the man who never goes to the movies, saw 4 movies in a span of 3 days. I saw Surf's Up, Fantastic 4, and sneak previews of Evan Almighty and Ratatouille.
I could've lived without seeing any of them.
GoTitans3801 06-21-2007, 11:57 AM You should have seen knocked up... Very funny movie...
Broken Record 06-21-2007, 02:25 PM You should have seen knocked up... Very funny movie...
Yeah, if I would've had a choice, that's the one I would have picked. Unfortunately the way I saw those 4 movies was a double feature at the drive in and then I got free tickets from a friend who works at a local radio station for the two sneak previews.
So anyone seen Transformers yet? Heard a few reviews, all loving it. It's still my #1 must see for the summer
Gunny 07-05-2007, 06:15 AM I will have to add Harry Potter to my list of dieing to see.
only a few more wonderfully wizardry days to go.
Crash Override 07-07-2007, 04:14 AM yeah im looking foward to harry potter as well.
avvie 07-07-2007, 07:11 AM So anyone seen Transformers yet?
I just saw it for the second night in a row
It's a lot of fun...plenty of wild CGI and destruction laced with some comic relief and adolescent fantasy a la typical Steven Spielberg.
PitBull 07-07-2007, 12:53 PM Surprise surprise.. who would have known that one of the best of all the options was die hard 4! That movie would have been option number 6 or 7 on my list, but unfortunately the ones i was most eager to watch turned out to be 'average' at best so it bumped it up to #1.
My list would now look like this:
1) Live Free or Die Hard
2) Spiderman 3 (tie)
2) Shrek 3 (tie)
3) Ocean's 13
4) Fantastic Four 2
5) Pirates of the Carribean 3
The Simpsons (not seen yet)
Transformers (not seen yet)
and i bet the last two which i haven't seen yet would rate in the #1 and #2 position when i do finally watch them. What a dissapointing year for blockbuster sequels. :sad2:
DCtitan49 07-07-2007, 12:59 PM 1) Live Free or Die Hard (Seen it) TWICE
2) Spiderman 3 (Seen It)
2) Shrek 3 (Seen It)
3) Ocean's 13
4) Fantastic Four 2
5) Pirates of the Carribean 3 (Seen It)
6)The Simpsons
7)Transformers (Seen It)
DCtitan49 07-07-2007, 01:00 PM You should have seen knocked up... Very funny movie...
ive tried to see that movie but every time i go something comes up or there sold out, i here its halarious and an instant Classic.
Starkiller 07-07-2007, 03:43 PM Transformers: Fantastic special effects, terrible plot
Frankly, I prefer the original movie...
If Transformers at least wows, which it looks like it really does, I'll be happy. Probably hard to top the plot of the original cartoon movie....which royally rocked.
HP should be pretty good, my #2 must see. What a bunch of geeks :geek:
Gunny 07-07-2007, 07:20 PM damn forgot all about Die Hard 4. Bruce with a nude nut (bald head).
1. The Simpsons
2. Bourne Ultimatium
3. Harry Potter
4. Die Hard 4
When does the new Bourne movie come out? Anyone know?
Creeping-Cruds 07-07-2007, 07:29 PM Saw Spiderman 3 last week at The Imax and was surprised that Sam Raimi could put out such an extremely bad movie... All style - no substance..
Childress79 07-07-2007, 07:29 PM 3rd of August for Bourne
bigtitan53279 07-07-2007, 07:32 PM transformers was pure eye-candy. if the plot focused more on the transformers rather than the humans, it would have been a very good movie instead of a good popcorn flick.
im also counting down the days to the next bourne movie.

I took my 18 year old cousin from out of town to see Transformers. Obviously he didn't grow up with it and probably has never seen a Transformer comic or cartoon. Before he left, I gave him a copy of the original movie. I'm waiting to hear which one he likes better.
I just signed up for Netflix, and the original Transformers movie should be here soon. Been a long time since I saw it at the theater, wonder if I'll like it as much.
Starkiller 07-08-2007, 12:51 AM I bought the VHS tape a few years ago and I have a copy on my computer. I'd say that few cartoons that I loved as a kid hold up quite like they did back then, but I still think the original movie is pretty much right there.

Start calling you a caveman.
avvie 07-08-2007, 01:21 AM Not being a Transformer fan, i gotta ask: is it fair to compare? I mean, the chracters and background were already set up in the original movie, right? The new one had to start from scratch for those of us who don't know what the hell they are.
Creeping-Cruds 07-08-2007, 01:36 AM Too many bad guys right?
Yeah that was one problem - too many bad guys that I don't love or hate - they were just there. No character development - just mind numbling non-stop CGI action. These CGI-fests can have great stories (LOTR) - I think Sam just was fulfilling his contractual commitments with this one...
Creeping-Cruds 07-08-2007, 01:40 AM the best part of spidey 3 was bruce campbell's little cameo.
Bruce is always great.. About 2 years ago Bruce came to the Cool Springs Carmike Theater to do a live intro and Q&A at one of his movie premiers - he spent about a half hour meeting fans and answering all kinda questions about his movies.. He tried his best to come off like a pecker but it was all shtick - he was real funny...
PickledMidget 07-08-2007, 01:51 AM Saw Transformers Saturday. I thought it was great. I agree about the charachter development, but loved the CGI.
Starkiller 07-08-2007, 10:48 AM Start calling you a caveman.
Hey, I wanted to hear Spike cursing, which got removed in the DVD I believe. Plus, I bought it back in 2000.

That's why I'm having my cousin compare. He has no knowledge of the original characters.

TitanJeff 07-08-2007, 01:49 PM Has any summer movie thus far lived up to the hype? I've only seen Spiderman 3 and was disappointed. I would like to get out and see something tonight but haven't heard about any of them being really good.
Hoffa 07-08-2007, 01:51 PM I really liked Live Free or Die Hard.

Childress79 07-08-2007, 02:45 PM Cool website & story man.Tennessee has everything. :grrhee:
Raimi is allegedly planning an Evil Dead remake but it won't work without Campbell,he isn't confirmed yet. Criminally underused as an actor,he stole the restaurant scene in Spiderman3.
I only discovered Bubba Ho Tep last year & yeah I loved it. I guess if you don't get Campbell it might not be that great but I watched it twice in the same day. :))
Starkiller 07-08-2007, 03:48 PM Pirates 3 pretty much lived up the hype in my book. And I haven't seen Die Hard yet, but I heard it was good.
ammotroop 07-08-2007, 06:27 PM So far the best in best to worst order IMO
Transformers
Pirates
Live Free Die Hard
Oceans 13
Shrek 3
Spidey 3
THE BEST MOVIE of the year so far is 300. Cant wait for the DVD...
Not going to see Simpsons, Fan Four, or Rush Hour 3 until DVD
I WOULD like to see Bourne Ultimatium, Harry Potter 24, I am Legend, American Gangsta, and the new secret Movie, Cloverfield

Have you seen Man With the Screaming Brain? (that's movie Bruce intro'd at the local theater). It's uber-cheese Sci-Fi Channel fodder but still really funny and has some great Ted Raimi scenes....
Creeping-Cruds 07-08-2007, 07:14 PM I WOULD like to see.... I am Legend....
Can't judge the book by it's movie... I read the screenplay it's been totally dumbed down and Hollywood-ified from the classic short story. This will be the third time the book has been made into a movie and they just don't seem to get it - leave the story intact and you'll have one helluva flick.
Richard Matheson would be rolling in his grave (and he's not even dead)...
Crash Override 07-08-2007, 11:37 PM I still think Pirates 1 was better than all of them. I called everything that happened in 3 so it wasn't that great for me.

No.Time for Amazon.com :))
Alien apocalypse doesn't sound too great though.

Man, ya just got to be secure with yourself.....I am secure enough that I can enjoy a good movie without worrying about my sexuality.....you got something you need to share with us Avie?
Riverman 07-09-2007, 03:52 PM You dudes are too hard on FF4 two. Sure the movie sucked but it had the greatest comic book character EVER created- THE SILVER SURFER. My local theater has the coolest movie prop in the lobby I've ever seen- SS on his board in a cool pose.
I saw Live Free/Die Hard. Worth the price of the ticket.
Can't wait for the Bourne 3. That is a really cool character and the action is tops. Didn't like Transformers, but my 11 year old son sat still for the ENTIRE flick- he said it was off the chizain afterward. I've never seen him quiet for more than 25 seconds.

GoTitans3801 07-09-2007, 04:19 PM Bruce Campbell fans must read his autobiography... "If Chins Could Kill"... good stuff, I found it in an apartment I rented and considered it treasure.
just took my kid to see (rat-ta-too-eee)
pretty good movie
TitanJeff 07-09-2007, 06:45 PM I'm seeing some good reviews on that movie. I might check it out with the kiddies.
the greatest comic book character EVER created- THE SILVER SURFER.
But wasn't he just some poon that was a slave to some freak named Galactus? Man it's hard remembering back 20 years or so ago.
All bow to Transformers and their record breaking (or near it) sales :grrhee:

Naw man The Goon is the greatest comic book character ever (and the artist that does that comic Eric Powell is a Nashville local to boot)...
A close second would be a tie between Mr. Natural and The Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers...

No way. He was given power with the board that rivaled Galactus's but he was held in servitude by Galactus who had the ability to destroy SS's home planet and family. He eventually challenged Galactus and broke free. He made several cameos in a bunch of 70's and 80's Marvel series.
Transformers special effects was impressive- but that was about it for me.

Starkiller 07-10-2007, 12:13 PM It could be funny, you never know...
avvie 07-10-2007, 12:52 PM There's one exchange in the trailers that was funny:
Dog: "You don't see dogs hurting each other for money!"
Boy: "You don't see humans sniffing each other's butts."
Dog: "Touche."
Hoffa 07-10-2007, 02:08 PM Boy: "You don't see humans sniffing each other's butts."

Hey Bobo: Wiki can help with those Surfer details ;)
And did anyone see the trailer for the untitled JJ Abrams film coming in January? Looks like fun.
Starkiller 07-14-2007, 07:58 PM Just saw the new Die Hard. That was an awesome action flick. Certainly better than Transformers.
Just saw Transformers. This type of movie could have been screwed up bad, but I thought it was really cool. Maybe I felt that way because I was a big fan as a kid, but people I went with that weren't in to Transformers, thought it was a lot of fun. I guess that's the key, it was fun and the action had a steady pace.
I agree that a better plot would help (and maybe not so many extreme closeups). Maybe they felt that wouldn't work so well for a mainstream audience? Well, maybe the 2nd movie will do better. I'd still give this one an 8 outta 10 :brow:
Guess Harry Potter is next, then Live Free or Die Hard. Then maybe the Silver Surfer.
bigtitan53279 07-15-2007, 01:47 AM And did anyone see the trailer for the untitled JJ Abrams film coming in January? Looks like fun.
anyone think they know what it is about?
avvie 07-15-2007, 03:58 AM From what I gather so far, a monster attacks NYC, and the film is presented from the viewpoint of the attacked....sorta like Blair Witch.
Judging by the sound, Lost fans think it's the smoke monster. Others think it's HP Lovecraft's Cthulhu. Yet another has posed a very interesting idea that it's a biblical prophesy, as the date of release and the times of the pictures posted on this website (http://www.1-18-08.com/) all reference bible chapter/verses that refer to judgement day/armageddon prophesies.
Speculation is that the film was originally titled "Cloverfield".
Tons of wild speculation and time wasting over it can be found at this site:

I saw transformers last night & agree with most of your points. it really wasn't that bad. I like the human leads & the usual 'back story fill ins for the movie' were the only parts that dragged.
Better than I expected.
Yep, better than I expected too. I guess I'm a little relieved that it wasn't like say "Lost in Space". Good enough for this Transformers fan to enjoy the movie and get the dvd when it comes out.
bigtitan53279 07-15-2007, 06:12 PM Godzirra!

Ok, maybe it's Mothra.
Starkiller 07-15-2007, 10:22 PM I just saw SiCKO today. Regardless of your politics, it's very powerful.
Can I get a summary? Like "you pay too much for healthcare and drugs"? Way too many movies I want to see before this, I may never see it :p
Starkiller 07-15-2007, 10:54 PM It's not really anything to do with "you pay too much" or "too many people aren't insured". It's more like "you're getting screwed by the healthcare companies", "the healthcare and drug lobbies owns the politicians", and "it's better in other countries where for-profit corporations aren't in charge of every one of your medical decisions".
And the fact is, he puts up a pretty stirring defense. I know there are people, especially on the political right, who flat out refuse to listen to anything he'll say (as if they think he might corrupt them somehow). But even Fox News gave it a thumbs up and republicans come to shake his hand after watching it. And republicans are getting screwed by the system just as much as democrats.
And if you refuse to pay to see it, it's on piratebay. And Michael Moore has said in the past that he has no problem with people pirating his movies (as long as they aren't profiting off them, anyway).

yet to see Oceans 13.
Childress79 08-16-2007, 03:51 AM Bourne, frikkin awesome.
Saw a special showing last night. Dyamn what a great movie. Straight to the top of my list as the best of the Summer. Well worth the wait.
TitanJeff 08-16-2007, 08:28 AM Bourne, frikkin awesome.

I've not seen any in the series yet. I'm thinking I might start because I've heard nothing but good about them.
Childress79 08-16-2007, 08:35 AM We re-watched the first two again last weekend in preparation for the new one. One of the best trilogies ever made.
Starkiller 08-16-2007, 09:02 AM The action in the last movie was great. The plot is a bit thin (not bad, just minimal), but really the movie is designed to be almost non-stop action.
And don't try watching it if you get motion sickness easily because the camera never stays still...
Creeping-Cruds 08-16-2007, 11:43 AM I've not seen any in the series yet. I'm thinking I might start because I've heard nothing but good about them.
By all means.. but all the reviews aren't good. I need some kinda humor with my mindless matrix-style violence and Bourne plays it too serious.. Didn't like the first 2 at all...
Gunny 08-16-2007, 05:40 PM I can't wait for Bourne. I loved the first 2 and the 3 is meant to be just as good.
Gunny 08-18-2007, 08:31 PM Ultimatum was awesome.
Ties it with the Simpsons and a good end to the 'summer of movies' after a slow start.
avvie 08-19-2007, 04:02 AM My father used to read all of those Robert Ludlum books...(jeez, when was The Bourne Identity written?). that's another that I've meant to check out.
Gunny 08-19-2007, 04:07 AM I've read the Bourne books and just bought The Parsifal Mosaic by Ludlum to read.
Childress79 08-19-2007, 06:34 AM I've read a lot of Ludlum's books. Very few duds but his stand alone novels are sometimes a bit repetitive. Not a bad thing if you like his style which I do.
The Covert One series are a change of pace & great reads.
Gunny 08-19-2007, 07:01 AM I am trying to stay away from the books written by someone else with his name on it.
