View Full Version : Rookie Keeper
One of my leagues conducts a yearly one round rookie draft. These players can be kept forever. Anyone feel like offering their recommendation[s] as to who I should select. There is one team in front of me and I fully expect them to draft Quinn. Even if he was available at 12 I already have VY. Here is who as been selected:
1. Marshawn Lynch (RB)
2. Calvin Johnson (WR)
3. Adrian Peterson (RB)
4. Brandon Jackson (RB)
5. JaMarcus Russell (QB)
6. Anthony Gonzalez (WR)
7. Lorenzo Booker (RB)
8. Michael Bush (RB)
9. Greg Olsen (TE)
10. Dwayne Bowe (WR)
I am leaning towards Chris Henry. Also, I thought about Meachem or possibly Jarrett, but I already have Colston [for "several" more years] and Steve Smith [for at least one more year]... The only other two I can think of would be Sydney Rice or possibly the TE from Oakland Zach Miller.
Thanks in advance for any input.
RyansTitans 07-09-2007, 04:41 PM Dude.... Ted Ginn Jr.
Im not saying this cuz I am an extreme homer for OSU (yes I admit it)
but.. your looking at a triple threat with Ginn.
Not only is he a sick kick returner but he has a chance to score anytime he has the ball in his hands. If he catches that ball and he sees a lane goodnight.
KR Points
PR Points
Receiving Points.
And he can only get better. With Chambers and Booker there in Miami if they put him in that slot position hes going to see the endzone alot down there in Miami.
Other considerations would be any of the receivers that havent already been chosen. Meachem , Jarrett , Smith.
Dont listen to the Ginn haters. Take him man.
Oh and if the rookie draft is more then 2 rounds try and get Henry or....

most FFL formats do not score individual points for Return Yardage
it is scored under DST
therefore, you'd want to draft Miami
Starkiller 07-09-2007, 06:57 PM Henry makes the most logical sense, unless you have a good feeling about Meachem or Ginn.
PAtitansfan53 07-09-2007, 07:03 PM I like Meachem in that offense he might not put up huge numbers this season but he will post solid numbers. Once he passes Devery Henderson which will be by next season he will be a stud in that high powered offense. The WR's put up big #'s on that team and he has a lot of talent, size, and speed so Brees will be looking his way a lot in the near future.
Boy was I wrong - that SOB took Henry :irked:
Thanks for the input so far. Looks like I gotta put a little more thought into this...
RyansTitans 07-09-2007, 09:51 PM Cant go wrong with Ted
Starkiller 07-09-2007, 10:10 PM Cant go wrong with TedI disagree...
RyansTitans 07-10-2007, 03:23 AM Wonderful. When he finishes with the most yards among the receivers you'll be on the list ive made of the "i told ya so's"

Marshawn Lynch
RyansTitans 07-10-2007, 08:12 AM 1. Marshawn Lynch (RB)

3. Adrian Peterson (RB)
4. Brandon Jackson (RB)

7. Lorenzo Booker (RB)

9. Greg Olsen (TE)
10. Dwayne Bowe (WR)

OK
Then I would consider Dwayne Jarrett
Starkiller 07-10-2007, 12:12 PM I'd actually have taken Adrian Peterson before Lynch if I had the first pick.
Soxcat 07-10-2007, 03:27 PM It's a tough call IMO. Peterson does have some injury issues and he is playing on a team with other guys who can carry the ball but he is also the most talented player.
I like Jarrett because he is going into a situation where he should get some playing time early and he might be a good redzone target.
Starkiller 07-10-2007, 04:43 PM I just think Peterson is the better RB. He has competition for the job this year, but if he can be kept forever, he's the guy I'd want.
Another option for this pick, though, would be Michael Bush. He won't be a big contributor this season (maybe later on in the year), but he's expected to the best RB in the future based on who is left.
And I wouldn't touch Quinn, personally.

Damn the more you post the more it seems like you don't know anything about sports. Ted Ginn over anybody there? What are you nuts?
RyansTitans 07-11-2007, 02:30 PM Dude dont get schooled. I know nothing about sports? Whatever
GoTitans3801 07-12-2007, 12:07 PM Be aware of others' perception of you, Ryanstitans. It's an important part of debate/argument. Making people believe that you are a rational and smart person goes a long way towards making a statement/argument that other people will agree with. Making "I don't care what you think" statements generally just leads to people ignoring your statements or not giving them as much credibility. Of course you care what people (in general, not a specific person) on the board think. You're here to discuss and argue about the Titans and other subjects. You're looking for opinions, and for people to listen to your own. Dismissals usually lead to bad discussion, which is one reason why we've had such bad discussion lately with people just insulting each other, leading TJ to up the punishments.
I certainly understand that there are people on here who need to be ignored. There are also people who just try to incite emotion and not logic. But take the time to make rational, thought out statements, and you'll find more supporters for yourself. A little humility doesn't hurt either. There are plenty of smart people on this board who have a ton of knowledge about sports.
RyansTitans 07-12-2007, 01:11 PM Doesn't give anyone the right to tell you that you know nothing about sports.
GoTitans3801 07-12-2007, 02:44 PM Certainly. But a more productive response might be to mention other places or topics where you've demonstrated your knowledge. Referencing something credible that others will remember is a stronger statement than saying whatever.
Carpy 07-12-2007, 06:03 PM Sidney Rice hands down.
Starkiller 07-13-2007, 07:33 PM Boy was I wrong - that SOB took Henry :irked:
I bet you can trade for Henry later on this year when he isn't getting too many carries.
