I want this game (it comes out in November)

i can only imagine the hype this game would be getting if it had been branded Kotor .... as it is , its only ranked 7th on gamespot ... behind such notables as
RE5 , MSG4 , Halo, etc....

oldie, but goodie
Very nice... it looked like a movie preview the way they set it up.
The Gloat 07-12-2007, 05:56 AM This is absolutely by far the best looking game trailer for any game ever. If it measures up to even 1/3 of what it could be, it'll be the greatest game of all time. It's on a whole 'nother level ahead of everything else coming out.
Gunny 07-12-2007, 05:59 AM Looks no more special than any other true next gen game coming out.
Though it does look good.
Snookus 07-12-2007, 09:02 AM I'm extremely excited about this game, it's the first I will buy for my 360 in a while.

TitanKid4Life 07-12-2007, 12:53 PM im really excited about this game as well, i preordered it a few weeks ago
The Gloat 07-12-2007, 01:24 PM Looks no more special than any other true next gen game coming out.
Please give me one example. This game looks like the future of games. At the moment, I can't think of one game coming out on any system that's even close as impressive.
bigtitan53279 07-12-2007, 01:27 PM Please give me one example.
Wii Fit
:ha:
The Gloat 07-12-2007, 01:40 PM Dang. Well. Alright, nevermind then. You win this time.
Please give me one example. This game looks like the future of games. At the moment, I can't think of one game coming out on any system that's even close as impressive.
It's impressive .... most impressive
BioShock would have to be in there somewhere
Too Human looked good as well
and then there's this little title made by Bungie
but my most wanted has to be Mass Effect
The Gloat 07-12-2007, 04:28 PM Nah, halo 3 seems like more of the same. Bioshock does seem like it's on a new level of FPS type. That and Assassin's Creed top my list so far of must haves, but Mass Effect seems like it's a movie you play through. It seems to have so much more depth with all the options you have, all the different galaxies to explore, etc.
Gunny 07-12-2007, 05:52 PM Please give me one example. This game looks like the future of games. At the moment, I can't think of one game coming out on any system that's even close as impressive.
Depends. What are you talking about? Graphically or something else?
Graphically it is impressive but no more so than Killzone, Metal Gear 4 etc.
I haven't seen any game play yet nor do I know anything about what features it will have.
I haven't seen any game play yet nor do I know anything about what features it will have.
haven't seen any gameplay ?
posts 8 / 9 / 10 and 11 are full of gameplay
besides ... this is a BioWare RPG
Jade Empire ... Knights of the Old Republic ... never fear
The Gloat 07-12-2007, 09:04 PM Killzone so far isn't that graphically stunning.
^ that might make a little more impact in the Killzone thread
The Gloat 07-12-2007, 09:43 PM Or I'll stay relevant to current conversations than searching for a topic hoping the other person comes along to find it.
Gunny 07-13-2007, 05:18 AM Killzone so far isn't that graphically stunning.
Get some glasses.
^ and a new monitor
and a new TV
and some better cables
maybe he meant Killzone 1 ?
Get some glasses.
speaking of glasses ol chap .......
did you manage to find any of the gameplay for this game ?
The Gloat 07-13-2007, 06:11 PM Killzone 2 doesn't wow me from what we've seen so far. It's no Gears, that's for sure. That one screenshot in the other thread looks very jagged.
And my tv/monitor set up is probably better than yours. But, that could explain a lot.
Gunny 07-13-2007, 07:05 PM Have you not seen the trailer?
and Puck, not yet.
The Gloat 07-13-2007, 08:02 PM I saw the trailer in the other forum. The short version. It looks good. I'm not dissing it by any means. It just doesn't blow me away. Like when you compare a gears screenshot to that kz2 one, it's not even fair. Gears nailed the aesthetics though. There are parts of maps people wouldn't even see unless they wandered off that look great.
and Puck, not yet.
well, like I said ...... posts 8, 9 ,10 and 11 are full of gameplay
unless of course you're talking about another game
and if you're talking about KZ, then there's a nifty video on PLaystation Store, i think they just posted it today

oh man
Wrex is one UUUGLY alien
at least he speaks English
and THANK GOD for not having to read copius amounts of text like some other BioWare RPG I love
Gunny 07-13-2007, 10:10 PM and if you're talking about KZ, then there's a nifty video on PLaystation Store, i think they just posted it today
Yeah the Metal Gear and Killzone trailers (shortened unfortunately) are available on the PS3 store, looks even better on a big screen. As are some movie trailers (the simpsons), Die Hard 4.0 - 8 minute footage.
I don't know if this game will include an option to control the ship, but I hope it does. It would be awesome if you could just wander around the ship while traveling in "warp" speed or just travel at a normal speed and watch the stars and plants fly by. Or just be stationed near some planet and watch how other ships come and go. Man, that would be so cool.

bioware sure has come a long way since Knights
That E3 trailer looks much better on HD and a bigger screen... if that trailer didn't sell the game for you, I don't know what will.
Mass Effect has once again been delayed and will now be released December 7th 2007 ...... my guess is to be the big holiday hit, since no major releases are happening in December for the 360
looking at a release list I got from GameStop, it looks like Mass Effect was getting out of the way of :
Halo3 - 9/25
Guitar Hero III - 10/28
** Mass Effect - 11/01
Call of Duty 4 - 11/05
Lego Star Wars : The Complete Saga - 11/06
WWE Smackdown VS Raw - 11/06
Assassin's Creed - 11/13
as a matter of fact, out of 2 pages of release material (some stretching into '08), there is not a single title releasing in December ... should be a good move to put them under alot of Christmas Trees
KamikaZ 08-20-2007, 01:08 AM It looks like a cool *** game, just not mind-blowing at all. Like, it contains all these really conventional ideas that I've always wondered "This game should have had ____", but never really showed up. But there aren't any ideas that I've seen so far that are all that original. Assassin's Creed seems to have that. BioShock seems to, as does Metal Gear Solid 4 so far. I'd chalk this game, at this time anyway, into the "It's gonna be a great, solid game", just like KOTOR was. Just my thoughts...
Mass Effect has once again been delayed and will now be released December 7th 2007
That was a rumor that has been debunked (http://masseffect.bioware.com/forums/viewtopic.html?topic=580964&forum=104).
Nope not delayed. We will still be releasing in November and will have more details as to exactly when, when they are ready to be discussed.
oh goody
maybe it'll hit streets near my B-Day (11/17)
Gunny 08-20-2007, 05:28 PM oh goody
you've been around me too long.:grrhee:

I've now got a ps2 / a ps3 and a frickin' Sony HDTV

HALL97ROX 10-16-2007, 11:31 AM I just hope I have my 360 back by then. I am suffering from serious withdrawals. At least a friend lent me a gamecube, so I am playing Metroid
while you have his GC , I wholeheartedly recommend Eternal Darkness and Zelda: Twilight Princess
I just hope I have my 360 back by then. I am suffering from serious withdrawals. At least a friend lent me a gamecube, so I am playing Metroid
The 1st or 2nd Metroid? I loved the 1st, haven't played the 2nd....but have the feeling that I need to not miss that game. I'll probably say the same about the newest game on Wii.
As a Metroid fan (but not a big Nintendo fan anymore), I should be a bit ashamed.
HALL97ROX 10-17-2007, 10:07 AM Puck, I have both those games and will play them when I beat or tire of Metroid.
Bobo, it is the first one, I like it but as an FPS person it took a while to get used to the controls (no strafe?).
Yeah those controls are weird, but I liked them once I got used to them.
I've got to play #2, I need to catch up on some gaming.

the Mrs. got one in her hands and got it to the cash register and when they tried to ring it up- the system wouldn't give a price and declined the sale

Gunny 11-16-2007, 04:25 PM I will laugh if this goes Assassins Creed and just isn't all the hype says it is.
c'mon ... it's a Bioware RPG .... it'll rock
Gunny 11-16-2007, 06:58 PM Gotta get it wrong sometime right?
Though from the looks of it I don't think it will be a disappointment.
as long as this game's been in development and just the sheer scope of what we've been given to this point, don't ya think they'd have gameplay, physics, storyline; et al in premiere shape ?
think about it
KOTOR was riddled with issues
yet it still was regarded as a prime RPG
I have little doubt Mass Effect will rock the casbah
is it possible you're hoping it flops just so you don't have to go out and get a 360 ? tell the truth now .... you want this game :grrhee:
Gunny 11-17-2007, 03:30 AM EA bought Bioware, PS3 will get a crappy, bugged, 30 fps Mass Effect 2. :Brow:
Assassins Creed was in development for 4 years I believe.
I actually don't want any game on 360, Mass Effect may be one. Bioshock may come to PS3, but otherwise not really interested...yet.
Bioshock was an incredible experience ... on that should not be missed

It's all but been confirmed to come to PS3. Regardless I can wait.
FPS still don't appeal to my tastes as much as other genres do.

Gunny 11-19-2007, 04:33 PM Lagging and what not is a Bioware thing isn't it? KotOR had it.
Though I am surprised it wasn't rated higher than a 9.4, I thought it would be above everything else. (Surely it is better than Halo 3)
yeah ... glitches and all are supposed to be patched in future updates
apparently, they really wanted to get this out in time for the holidays
most critics announce frame rate and 'other technical' blemishes, but also state that it is not enough to detract from such an epic title
Gunny 11-19-2007, 06:45 PM Like KotOR the only issue I found was when there were mass amounts of enemies it slowed down a lot. Sounds the same with Mass Effect.
Nonetheless it looks good.
PhiSlammaJamma 11-19-2007, 08:27 PM The only thing about KOTOR I didn't like was some of the fetching. This problem was similar in oblivion, tho it was less of a burden. I'm interested to see how Mass Effect handles some of these typical problems for role playing games. The Sci Fi role playing games always have weird comuter elements too. Fix this computer, fix that, puzzle this, puzzle that. And a lot of it involves fetching. I noticed that BioShock had even less fetch type moments. The only one that comes to mind was in the theater with the photos, but that wasn't so bad either because of the rabbits at the end and taking photos of the dead runners. I think that if rpg's can get past that one hurdle, then they will be totally immersive. I love rpg's tho, they are my favorite type of game and Bioshock was my favorite experience yet. I'm just looking for perfection.
"Perfection" will always be harder to find in games of this scope
this game has a few "side" quests .. not sure if they'll be "fetch" quests
GAMESPOT REVIEW (http://www.gamespot.com/xbox360/rpg/masseffect/index.html?tag=tabs;summary)
PhiSlammaJamma 11-22-2007, 05:37 PM I'm playing now. It's been pretty good. The dialogue sequenes are smooth. That has been a nice improvement over some other rpg's. Most of the missions have played into the plot. Which is good. I thought the leaning curve has been high tho. I was constantly getting lost and there are so many people to try and remember. I died a lot, but I'm getting better. I'm now part of the more select class and moving ever onward. But overall, a nice experience and I think I'm starting to learn how get along in this game.
i've read that the learning curve is upwards of 5 hours
that's crazy
PhiSlammaJamma 11-24-2007, 07:49 PM The IGN review is spot on. I'm not done yet, but thus far
The Good:
Story
Dialogue
Most side missions are relevant to the story and don't take you out of your way.
The Bad:
Must save. Listen to me. You must save.
Can get stuck walking
Same game as KOTOR ( not much innovation on the whole )
Very linear when on the ground
learning curve is large.
no freaking laser guns? Are you kidding? It's space game.
It's really a lot of fun once you get going and get the hang of it. THe whole games rides on the story and it delivers nicely and I figure I'm only half way thru.
Gunny 11-24-2007, 09:44 PM How long have you been playing for?
PhiSlammaJamma 11-24-2007, 10:54 PM Hard to say, I started on Wednesday night, and I've put in about 5 or 6 hours a day. So I'm probably at about 20-24 hours or so.
BigRed3 12-09-2007, 11:47 AM I rented Mass Effect yesterday, and played for a couple of hours last night. Overall, I like it a lot. When I first started, there were a lot of times where I would get lost walking around and end up exactly where I started. There is a lot of side missions, and a lot of crap to remember (names, locations, etc.). I haven't got too far into it, so I haven't gotten a lot of battle action except for Eden Prime.
kak23 12-09-2007, 10:25 PM This is one of the best games I've ever played in my life.
BigRed3 12-10-2007, 01:04 AM This game is badass. The only regret that I have is that I just rented it instead of buying it, there's no way i'm going to be able to finish it. I'm about nine hours in right now, and it seems as if I haven't even scratched the surface.

I do a lot of exploring so I'm probably not typical but I'm over 22 hours into it and I'm still not close to done.
PhiSlammaJamma 12-10-2007, 01:57 AM I'm done, but it takes a while if you explore.
I would really like to see these good evil games diverge like mid way and take two totally different paths with maybe a smidge of overap. That's what these developers need to do next. There should be three or four endpoints for every game. While I was playing Half Life 2, I realized the game is so big they could have done that with little effort.

I've thought of that as well. Every major choice you make (not every choice) changes the storyline to suit your characters personality (good/evil).
The replay value on that is enormous.
BigRed3 12-10-2007, 11:37 AM The only complaint I have with this game so far is the load times that happen a lot when going from place to place. Also, there were two occasions where I got stuck into something in the environment and couldn't get out, and I would have to load my game again.
avvie 12-15-2007, 07:57 PM Hard to say, I started on Wednesday night, and I've put in about 5 or 6 hours a day. So I'm probably at about 20-24 hours or so.
Holy cow! So THAT's why I'm not a gamer! That's like a second job!
well, then steer clear of games like Oblivion, Final Fantasy and Mass Effect
there's plenty of games available for gamers that want to blast through games in a week or so with minimal daily investment
BTW
can a mod remove the date from the thread title ?
so it just reads "Mass Effect"
