View Full Version : The Simpsons Movie
Gunny 07-24-2007, 06:25 AM As some may know I won tickets to the Premier to the Simpsons movie, which was tonight.
Absolutely hilarious movie. Can't say anything real bad about it except it was too short.
Creeping-Cruds 07-24-2007, 09:58 PM That's awesome news!
bigtitan53279 07-27-2007, 01:17 AM it was too short. all in all it was a very good movie. took me back to the great days of the simpsons....maybe they've been saving all their good jokes the past four years for this one movie?
Crash Override 07-27-2007, 01:24 AM I can't wait to see this movie. I been drinking buzz cola from 711, and spider pig got me convinced.

It was too short, but I think it suited it. Then again I spent the last half of the movie holding in a #1.
RyansTitans 07-27-2007, 04:11 AM How long was it? I hope its more than an hour. Im bout to go see it.
And how long until Family Guy gets a movie
Gunny 07-27-2007, 04:45 AM Family Guy has a movie already (Stewie Griffin story). And the Simpsons movie is about 90 minutes.
RyansTitans 07-27-2007, 05:42 AM That movie isn't really even a movie tho. I meant a full fledged movie that gets alot of hype like the Simpsons.
Gunny 07-27-2007, 05:58 AM Well in order for it to get a lot of hype it has to be good for one and has 20 years of fan support and popularity for another.
The Family guy movie had to be able to be broken down into episodes in order to get produced.
Did it feel like the Simpsons "jumped the shark" on this one Gunny? Doesn't sound like it but thought I would ask.
Gunny 07-27-2007, 06:41 AM No.
From what I have read the movie has gotten a good reception so far.
Crash Override 07-27-2007, 10:09 AM I still think the simpsons is better than family guy.
Creeping-Cruds 07-27-2007, 04:19 PM Just got back from The Simpsons Movie.. I laughed my arse off the entire time. Loved it!! 90 minutes felt like 10 minutes.. I want more...
KamikaZ 07-27-2007, 08:51 PM Saw it this afternoon. Very surprised. You can tell Groening reached out to some of the original core writers, because it had the feel of something out of season 6-9, which is part of the prime years (4-7 are IMO, the pinnacle of the series). Plot was very well put together (far better than say, the Family Guy movie, which was funny as it's own).
There were some great parts (basically the first 30 minutes were excellent), with a very fast-paced plot. Homer was actually very funny, and he's been my biggest complaint in the newer seasons (besides horrible writing...heh). I'm glad that seconday characters got some shine; I think almost everyone except Kang and Kodos got a cameo.
Few complaints. Way too much Flaunders (who's become a boring, one-dimensional character in recent years), and the whole angle with Bart wanting his attention was lame and out of character. Too many great seconary characters like Krusty, Moe, Carl/Lenny, Apu, etc deserved more time. Also, the pig gags got a little...eh. But other than that, very good movie and believe it or not, as a die-hard Simpsons fan, I give my seal of approval.
Grade: B+
Carpy 07-27-2007, 08:55 PM I'll have a Duff to that. I still own a can of Duff beer. Holding on to it for a special occasion.
Gunny 07-27-2007, 08:56 PM I think the pig gags were less funny because they'd been seen on the ads. But they also didn't over do it.
Ralph had some great one liners - "I like men now" was a classic and when he blows the bubbles at the glass dome.
Albert Brooks has played some great characters (Scorpio and the EPA guy)

Yeah, Albert Brooks is always gold on this show. Scropio is still probably my favorite "one-time-show" Simpson's character.

probably my favorite episode of all-time.
Creeping-Cruds 07-27-2007, 11:46 PM probably my favorite episode of all-time.
Really? I didn't think was one of the stronger episodes of that stretch.
If I had to pick one episode it would be the where Bart, Lisa and Maggie are taken away to live with The Flanderses... Too many classic scenes and lines in that one to count...
Gunny 07-28-2007, 01:33 AM In the eyes of God they will be flanderereses.

"Pwinthiple Thkinner, I got no thews...."
"Stupid babies need the most attention!"
and so many more...
