Recommendations for horror that you think people might not have seen etc.. I don't watch them that much, and generally see them as hokie, but I thought that one was really gripping, and entertaining, and scary. Alex1939 07-30-2007, 05:19 PM For an older scary movie, check out "The Serpent and the Rainbow". It's a 1987 film starring Bill Pullman and directed by Wes Craven. It's set primarily in Haiti and New York City. The film's about voodoo and other black magic. It was VERY loosely based on real events. It does have some cheesy 1987 effects that might make you laugh more than frighten you, but not throughout the film, only in a part or two. The concept of the movie is rather frightening, which adds a lot. Pullman is usually the perfect victim while it's hard to forget Paxton's bad-boy roles in Near Dark and Boxing Helena.. He does a pretty good schmuck at times as well..
