I recently watched this movie called Calvaire. This flick was just wrong...
I can't even go into detail here without breaking some forum rules I'm sure..
I've been disturbed by movies over the years but this one came outta left field..

Fun horror flick but a little too goofy to be disturbing.. The sequel Devil's Rejects might fall into the that category though..

The two movies I would have said: House of 1000 Corpses and Clockwork Orange.

I guess I should check out the first recommendation, or... maybe not.

I thought "The Hills Have Eyes" was pretty disturbing, although I didn't like the movie or find it entertaining or scray. Just disturbing in a crappy way.

Scenes that make me turn the channel, in no particular order.

1. Fat zombie chick in the mall in the mall zombie movie. ughhh.
2. Gay scene in basement of American Beauty. Didn't need that.
3. Rape thing in the Deer Hunter.

4. Van Wilder, the dogs and the sandwiches. That is wrong
5. Kumar and Harold, at the burger restauraunt and the sandwiches are gooed on. more wrong.

6. The sex scene with Stallone and the "speed" girl in demolition man. I do not need to see that.

Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer

http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B0009OUBC4.01._SCLZZZZZZZ_V1118963363_.jpg

It's non-stylized, realistic and painfully graphic violence makes Silence of the Lambs looks like a Disney film. Haven't seen this in over a decade... not exactly lite viewing fare.

On the other end of the spectrum is a couple from Takashi Miike. These two are highly stylized yet completely unnerving and at times nauseating.

This baby grabs you by the nads right from the start and you know you're in for a craaazy ride. The title credits are made to look like they're done in a specific body fluid... not blood, not sweat, not tears...

I watched 'Henry' for the first time last year. Maybe it's because I've been desensitized by movies like Se7en & 8MM etc but I thought Henry was chit.

I realize it was made a long time ago but viewing it today I didn't get why it was so hyped up. Just my 2 cents TB.:))

I've often wondered if it stood the test of time (that's why I mentioned I hadn't seen it for a while). Judging from viewer comments on Rotten Tomatoes and IMDb lots of viewers still find it pretty nasty.

I'm almost curious enough to seek it out and try watching it again.

Have you seen any of Miike's stuff?

He started off with a few decent supporting roles but the last time I saw was in a nothing role in a CSI episode.

Makes me wonder if he was a tool to work with ala Sean Young.

Just because it was one of the first I saw that "first person-ized" somebody with a total disregard for the sanctity of human life.

And for the same reason:

I generally avoid these kinds of movies but Exorcist was the first which messed with my head. 8MM did as well.

Bad Boy Bubby

Bad Boy Bubby (Nicholas Hope) is a 35-year-old manchild, confined his whole life by his domineering mother--who uses him for sex--to a two-room tenement apartment. She has convinced Bubby that the air outside is poisonous, donning a gas mask every time she leaves

Fantastic choices my friend...Kudos for your taste in movies man...

Let me add Kids (story about teenagers in the mid-90s) and Battle Royale (children deserted on an island, forced to hunt and kill one another; literally banned from publication in the US).

I love Ichi and Audition.. Have you seen Mikke's contribution to Masters of Horror? It was the only one that Showtime wouldn't air... Worth checking out if you like his other stuff...

No, I've heard about it though. Is it available on DVD? It's funny I'm not normally into horror or violent features, not against them, they're just not my thing. A friend recommended Audition and I just instantly enjoyed Miike's style. I've watched a few of the films of the Japanese new wave horror directors but none have grabbed me the way Miike's over the top style has. I also have Ley Lines and Fudoh on DVD. The problem is that none of these titles seem available for rent here in town, so I'm usually "forced" to buy them (I know, I know, I really need to join netflix)

Fantastic choices my friend...Kudos for your taste in movies man...

You're just saying that because you know our tastes are so similar :ha:

Have you updated your DVD Afficianado page since they changed the site? I thought they deleted everything... I was pretty pissed, it took a surprisingly long time to frickin' enter all of those damn titles. I'm really not too crazy about the "improved" site.

Oops,my bad.Thought you meant 'Mike' Rooker:ha:

lol Miike's name used to drive me nuts. I never knew how to pronouce it, so it was always awkward attempting to discuss his films or trying to inquire about their availability at a store. It wasn't until I purchased Ichi the Killer on DVD which had a little featurette on it that I learned I had been indeed pronouncing it wrong all along. I think he should change his name to Mike Rooker... Rooker doesn't seem to be using it much these days.

Um...there wasn't one. It just appeared that way to the military dad.
Later, he makes a move on Spacey in the garage, showing us that all his homophobia was just a cover for his own homosexuality, and why his wife is virtually lifeless.

I thought that was a very important scene for the storyline....the son realises that he has a chance to escape his father's iron-fisted rule, and admits to being a gay gigolo to do so, which of course wasn't true.

Natural Born killers, Just because it was one of the first I saw that "first person-ized" somebody with a total disregard for the sanctity of human life.

That was the film that killed Bob Dole. The idiot went campaigning for president on the "Stop Senseless, Gratuitous Hollywood Violence!" platform, and used this movie as his effigy.
Guess what? The topic of the film is the negative effects of senseless, gratuitous Hollywood violence!
Dole showed the world what an idiot he was by unwittingly bashing an ally. Repeatedly.

Some of the things in "The Cell" were pretty freaky and disturbing. I guess I liked that movie more than most.

"Silent Hill" was a nice freak fest.
