Good I really like his upside and VY loves the guy. We seem to do better with our UDFA WR's than our Drafted WR's.

I like Ealy a lot, and we do tend to hit on a lot of UDFAs... but I think a lot of that has to do with expectations. If a draftee struggles with any part of his game we all jump on him as a wasted pick - if a UDFA makes just a couple of plays each game we all sing his praises. But I don't mean to take anything away from Ealy... if he makes the roster he's going to do very well. Vince definitely trusts him already and he seems to be getting open and making the catches.

I would like to see him with the first team just to see what he can do.

You have to take KFFL reports with a grain of salt. They really twist the true story.

Here is the article from Adam Zinser that they have interpreted to get the quote they did (almost a week old).

Hey did Rocca make the Eagles team?

Carpy

At the moment the Eagles still have both punters on their 75 man roster. Rocca as started the last 2 pre-season games and is certainly a media and fan favourite because of his ability to kick the skin off the ball.

There is speculation that Andy Reid will go with Johnson still becuase of his experience and some concern that Rocca kicks the ball so far that he will consistently outkick his coverage.

He has certainly done enough to be picked up by some team if the Eagles release him.

So is dontrell moore!

2 catches have suddenly made ealy this big star? I say nothing in that link that means squat to me. the WRs coach says he can play both spots. Okay. the other link is from the tomb! Yeah sure let's go by what a poster at the tomb says..

The tomb is a mickey mouse outfit compared to gotitans. Check in the mail jeff?

First of all this is pre-season and the Titans not only have a bunch of WRs to evaluate they also have guys like the 3rd year guys with Gage and Moulds they want to acclimate to the system. Ealy's two catches are not bad consisdering how much he has actually played. The facts are Ealy has looked as impressive as any rookie WR we have and has done about all the kid can do with the limited time he has had to do it. Also, if it is true they are working him at all three positions that is a real good sign for him that he is going to stick. Why waste the time to teach him multiple positions even if they have PS aspirations. IMO I think they feel they have found a keeper WR with real potential and they might even keep 7 WRs just to keep him on the roster.

WR (6)
Eric Moulds
Brandon Jones
Paul Williams
Chris Davis
Biren Ealy
Roydell Williams

OL (10)
Michael Roos
Benji Olsen
Kevin Mawae
Jacob Bell
David Stewart
Eugene Amano
Leroy Harris
Daniel Loper
Justin Geisinger
Seth Wand

with amano able to play both guard spots/center and loper being able to play both tackle spots, i think we only carry 9 OL to save the extra roster spot for the 7th WR.

I like Ealy. He's big and physical. Vince also trusts him, which is worth a lot. Who would have guessed how Scaife has panned out??? Vince would have.

I realize he's a Tennessee native and all, which recent history says to stay away from, but he's not here as a hometown hero; he's here on Young's endorsement.

The Titans didn't do much to surround Vince with talent over the offseason. Why shouldn't he have a guy he wants to throw the ball to???

kinda unfair for the other recievers on the bubble, he shouldnt be guranteed a spot until the cuts are made..

Don't rule him out yet. If they carry seven WR's then I think you pick two from Gage, Roby and Ealy.

I'll be shocked if Ealy gets anything more than a practice squat invite.

This is the latest OFFICIAL depth chart. I wouldn't be reading too much into anything until this is updated after our final roster cut-down.

If moulds is starting we will have proof that jeff fisher is clueless. I have read 3 articles now that ASSUME moulds to have one starting spot. That's assinine!

I think the final 53, temporarily, looks more like this:

QB - Young, Collins (2)
RB - White, Brown, Henry (3)
OL - Roos, Olson, Mawae, Bell, Stewart, Loper, Harris, Amano (8)
FB - Hall, Cramer (2)
TE - Scaife, Troupe, Hartsock (3)
WR - Moulds, RWilliams, Jones, Davis, PWilliams, Gage, Ealy (7)

25 Offense

DT - Haynesworth, Brown, Starks, Simon, Mahelona (5)
DE - KVB, Odom, LaBoy, Conover (4)
LB - Bulluck, Thornton, Fowler, Tulloch, Woods, Gardner (6) [will probably upgrade the depth, I think]
CB - Harper, Finnegan, Griffin, Hill, Herndon, King (6)
S - Hope, Thompson, Lowry, Fuller (4)

25 Defense

P - Hentrich
K - Bironas
LS - Amato

3 Special Teams

Guys in danger of being cut after September 2 to make room for roster upgrades: Gardner, King, Ealy, Cramer, Troupe, Woods

I'll say we might keep Wand and go with 9 OL, especially since Olson is having back problems. However, with Harris, Amano and Loper, you pretty much have the entire line backed up. Not sure Wand can play either tackle spot like Loper can. I think the question is which position loses a guy: WR, DB or OL. Based on what Long showed, I'd love to see more, but it may not be in the cards. They may decide to cut Mahelona in favor of him, but I doubt it. Also, they may cut King or Ealy or Cramer to keep Wand, etc.

I just can't see the value in keeping 7 receivers unless one of them is your full time KR/PR.

The trade-off for my thinking is how often will be calling on guys down the depth chart at WR? We use very few 4-WR sets. I know Fisher said last week that the 7th WR or the 10th DB were potential trade-offs, but in our division, I can't see how you don't go with the extra DB.

Nash

IMO you have identified the 53 best players, give or take Wand and Scott, and perhaps not including Gardner..but you are pretty close.. as for the 10 scouts at the game last week, my bet is they were also there to see what we had at DB because everyone seems to know we have 10-11 that can play so a trade for Hill might be in the works but that is pure speculation on my part...

I think Roby makes it over Ealy. I'm not sure if Loper beats out Wand. I still think Nickey or Scott has a shot over the 7th WR.

RollTide
08-30-2007, 09:12 AM
Yeah but of course vince has never thrown him a pass in a game. Ealy's 2 catches came from collins and rattay. That's the key here 2 catches! But out of those 2 catches we have that vince loves him, he's fast big and physical. What else ballet dancer type dexterity?

I think jeff makes a good point about keeping a good special teams cover guy over a 7th WR. Nickey would make it over scott i think and lavar woods is another guy on the bubble they might want to keep because of special teams.

What is the big deal about putting this guy on the PS?

And why is moulds this auto write in as a starter? I see a calico circa 05 coming on. After 7 starts and just 13 catches for 8.8 yards a catch they finally catch on that someone else might do better. He hasn't shown any seperation at all this preseason!
