Sweeney Todd. Great movie. 9/10 I encourage everyone to go see it. Please skip National Treasure 2. Its really bad. I'm a big fan of Tim Burton and this movie is one of his best.

Looking forward to this. I'm a drama nerd, so it's right up my alley.

It's a musical, so they are really doing it a disservice by promoting it as a horror film. But most musical fans don't want to see such a gruesome story and horror fans don't want a musical.

Dark musicals can work pretty well. And horror fans only show up to movies to complain about how unscary they are anyway, so it works.

Okay, I'm gonna take a stab in the dark and say that Danny Elfman wrote the music.

Surely not in a Burton/Depp movie!

Does Depp ever make a bad movie?

Maybe Secret Window but in general you know your getting a quality movie with Depp.

Here's two huge Johnny Depp suckfests for your list.. Pirates 3 and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (Burton get's a huge demerit on this one too)..

I suspect Sweeny Todd will be good though - never hurts that Sacha Baron Cohen is in the film...

I hear you but I enjoyed the 3rd Pirates movie as much as the others.

Choc Factory was a frustrating in offering nothing new whatsoever but I still like Depp's interpretation of Wonka. Some old movies are perfect & should be simply left alone & never remade.

The musical was on stage for years with angela lansbury... musical fans LOVED IT. The story didn't change, nor did the music so I prefer that they promoted as a horror. Just like assasins and some versions of Dracula, Sweeny Todd is just that a gory, bloody, and funny horror story. Personally I'm disapointed they cut the theme song from the movie. Though i understand the problems they must have come across.

All in all I prefer the stage version (not a fair comparison... it had been my favorite for YEARS) but i give it 8.5/10
