It's always sad when someone dies so young. RIP Heath!

I liked The Patriot, tho' many critics thought it was average. I'd put it in my top 30 because it demonstrated what a war in your backyard might look and feel like. Heath only had a supporting role there, but I thought that was his best film overall. I never did see the cowboy movie, and never will, but I really did like the Patriot.

What a tragedy.

Prescription medication? So many talented & creative people seem to have personal demons.Whatever the reason, the only thing that matters is that a young man died well before his time.

Whatever happened to Ledger will now be scrutinized & sensationalized relentlessly by the media as they fuel the hype to get to the bottom of this with no purpose other than to feed on his loss.

28 years old & presumably just acted his socks off in the highest profile role of his career. He leaves behind a young child & a world of hurt for those in his circle of family & friends.

He was an intensely private young man in spite of his high profile as a successful actor.I hope the media don't get to reveal in death the things that Ledger sought to keep private in life.

Sorry for sounding preachy but I'm deeply saddened by this & my thoughts are with those who cared for him.

Terrible. He was a very talented actor, who after The Dark Knight, was probably looking at a leap into legit stardom and the acting elite. Very sad.

Not preachy at all. I feel the same way. Another sad aside to this story is that his girlfriend, model Gemma Ward (http://www.gemmaward.info/home.html) found out the same way we did.

It's gonna be weird watching him in the Joker role after this.

R.I.P

I dunno if I'll enjoy the performance as much. Not because it will be diminished, but because it will be odd to see.

Were they completely finished filming the movie?

It's in post right now, so other than any possible re-shoots they were done.

Overdoses (if that is it) are just really bizare ways to die. I got mixed feelings on that type of thing. It's really too bad he died so young.

Wonder if Dark Knight will be a cult classic like "The Crow" after Brandon Lee died.

PicMig, you read my mind. And more I was thinking about re-shoots...how they used some CGI to finish the film.

PM, That is a guarantee.
As bad as this is, it will make soooo much more money now.

Why is it that people with everything they want in the world kill themselves, while people struggling to get along are happier.

You can give the money doesn't buy happiness answer, but there really is no explanation.

also, Lee was killed, by a gun, during the filming, on set, so it is very different than someone who kills themself(presumably) after filming is over.

But every news organization is going to be all over this like Anna Nicole, except no one will miss anna nicole.

What really does piss me off is that drug f***ed cows like Brittney and Lohan survive this kinda crap, but someone like Heath Ledger doesn't.

I'll miss him.

Chris Farley wanted to be exactly like his idol, John Belushi. That's why he went the Second City - SNL route. He ended up dying of an OD at the same age John was. Kind of creepy.

What really has my stomach in knots is who he played before his death. As the Joker he was playing a fair psychotic character (just looking at the preview) it just feels like his death is just a continuation of that character.

They say deaths come in 3

We've had two very shocking deaths in the past month.
Clinton Grybas was a sports commentator and an up and comer in the sports world (in Australia), he died mysteriously. One rumour was he died sleep walking, hitting his head.

Then Heath Ledger.

Scary stuff.

:)) of course.

It's just a little disturbing to know there are organized groups amongst us with such socially unacceptable belief systems. In other aspects of their life these people work, like football, books, movies & music just like the rest of us.

This news sucked. I always thought he had talent and didnt get to showcase it. Then, he finally gets his big breaks and dies from sleeping medicine. Some say he was trying to come off a heroin OD. Not sure why all these actors are in to heavy drugs. I understand he was depressed, but this is life.
