View Full Version : Sunday, July 27 TitanJeff 07-27-2008, 02:59 PM It's going to be a hot one but the Freak makes his return. The Gloat 07-27-2008, 05:35 PM did it start at 3:30 today? Puck 07-27-2008, 06:45 PM anything ? figure nowadays with cellphones as useful as they are you'd think someone could toss a quick entry in onsite <please> Hoffa 07-27-2008, 07:06 PM did it start at 3:30 today? http://www.gotitans.com/goForum/calendar.php reo 07-27-2008, 08:00 PM My brother and I made it to camp today. We spent most of our time watching the WRs even when they were on the other side of the field. Ealy didn't really do much special today but the best thing I can say about him is that the boy can flat out catch. He catches about everything thrown his way. Gage made a nice double move on a corner but the corner stuck w/ him then Gage went up over the guy to make a very nice catch. Didn't really see much else from him the rest of the day. Mike Williams didn't do much from what I was able to see either but he ran a couple nice routes and went up for some balls... just didn't come down w/ them. He did have one nice catch short across the middle and then he turned on some surprising speed down the sideline (ala Volek to Jones in a preseason game a couple years ago) and then lowered his shoulder into Fin. Paul Williams made 1 really nice 1 handed catch in the endzone where he shielded the defender w/ this body and brought it in... then he dissappeared again. One thing we really noticed about him is that he's really good w/ those jump balls. he's always going up high to make the catch... he's just not coming down w/ them. If he can start coming down w/ them then he might be something. Hawkins didn't seem to get much work at all when they started w/ 11 on 11 late. Jones and Davis stayed in the slot. McCariens and Gage were starters and then it was either Ealy and MW or Ealy and PW. Hawkins ran one really really nice route though where he started on the slant and cut back outside and was WIDE open. Was a really nice cut. McCareins was the most impressive though. He was making a couple good catches and then VY had one beautiful deep bomb down the sideline. Perfect, right over his JMac's shoulder for a TD. Perfect pass. He caught it right in front of us. As far as the rest. We got there when Jones, Davis and Carr were fielding punts. Then we watched the RBs go through drills. LW is most definately not in shape. He's still got a noticable belly. I don't remember enough about last year to say if it was better or worse. He seems... I dunno... a little lacadasical during drills. Almost disinterested. They were runnning one drill where the coach is telling him to come at the cone and go right.. LW's like... ok so go left... and the coach is, no, go right... LW: ok, go left. coach: no go right. then LW goes and goes left... Then the coach had to show him again. And this was after 5 guys and already gone in front of LW. It was kind of funny. He turned up the intensity when it got to 7v7 and 11v11 though. had one really nice bowling ball run up the middle and another catch up the middle. Crumpler found a nice seam on one play and bounced off a couple guys. Then Hill stepped in front of him at the end... looking like he was just going to catch hold of him b/c it was about over... Crump didn't even lower his should but Hill ended up on his ***. Martin drilled a nice pass to Stevens in the back of the end zone for a nice catch. Our DL is going to be fierce though. Johnson is STRONG. really good bull rush. AH looks really good and of course KVB is KVB. the collisions between him and the OL are rough. he's just going all out every play. We couldn't see the other side of the DL that well. Had big Roos and a goal post in our way. Anyway... that's what we saw. EDIT: one more. Think it was Mike or PW that made a really nice move on Fin in the endzone to get outside... had a really nice through from the QB but Fin recovered nicely and went up high to knock it down. Keep in mind, we couldn't see most of the 1v1 stuff b/c we were on the wrong side. We saw a lot of this stuff by looking across the field. Might have missed stuff from a lot of guys. It also marked the return of Jevon Kearse which immediately drew the attention of many of the fans and media in attendance. Rookie Chris Johnson had his difficult moments today with a couple of dropped passes when the RBs/TEs were working against the LB/S. He also fumbled a handoff during 11-on-11. I don't know if anyone can shed some light on this, but does it seem Reynaldo Hill is getting a lot of work, and getting better at playing the football? He seems to be involved in alot of action early. TitanJeff 07-27-2008, 09:04 PM Fisher's interview: http://www.titansonline.com/news/titans_news_detail.php?PRKey=5846 TitanJeff 07-27-2008, 09:20 PM I don't know if anyone can shed some light on this, but does it seem Reynaldo Hill is getting a lot of work, and getting better at playing the football? He seems to be involved in alot of action early. I think Hill is looking decent so far. I don't think he's pushing either Harper or Finnegan but it's good to see him making plays. reo 07-27-2008, 09:30 PM yeah, i wasn't really looking to be honest but after practice my brother and i were talking and the only corners we remember seeing out there on 11 v 11 were Fin and Harper and then Hill and King. The others more than likely got some reps... but we don't remember seeing anyone else. At one point though they were running HBs and TEs w/ Martin vs LBs and Safeties on one side of the field and the other they were doing 1v1 WRs vs CBs w/ VY and Collins and we noticed that Fuller would run a set or 2 w/ the LBs and Safeties and then run all the way down to the other side of the field to work vs the WRs and then come back and then go back, etc... surprised us. They're going to be REALLY good on both offense and defense. Our DL going to be fierce, probably the best in the league and our defense will be great again b/c of it. Our OL is solid and our running game will be crazy good b/c of it. And i'm actually getting excited about our WRs and what Crumpler can add to the offense. Dinger seems to be doing a really really good job w/ Vince. CJ was the perfect pick to boost this offense. Crash Override 07-28-2008, 01:11 AM It's all about the lines, o +d and we have a great d and a solid o line. I just want to see Vince Young step up to the next level. We can't have him throw interceptions and wait on the d to bail him out. wycheck28 07-28-2008, 01:31 AM  I'm seriously more excited about this team this year than I've been in years. CJ was the perfect pick to boost this offense. thank you i appreciate your bluntness and i am also glad that you are excited about the titans team this year but i guess my next qeustion is why??? why do you think the titans DL is the best in the nfl? and why are you so confident about our offense? do you know something me and half the world dont?? why do you think cj was the best pick to boost this offense have some of the people on this post and some of my friends lied about him looking very below average in camp so far?? i guess what i am trying to say is i like your enthusiasm now back it up... Crash Override 07-28-2008, 02:04 AM Well Haynesworth is the best DT in the league. He simply makes everyone around him better. KVB is a monster and has an incredible work ethic, and it plays out on the field. Kearse is still a beast, even though he was plauged with injuries on the eagles. Wycheck I agree with you about the offense, that is the one thing that scares me this season but I think we will be solid. adamwinn51 07-28-2008, 03:24 AM Dude, CJ is a rookie and he has been observed in only two days of camp. You already are concerned about him being a bust or not panning out? Give it some time man. I must say that I am not overly optimistic nor overly pessimistic. We went 10-6 last year with a very weak offense and a strong D. I think we could see something similar this year. It would not be shocking for us to go 10-6 and make the playoffs. If our offense isn't much better than last year, we may be looking at 8-8 or 9-7 or if we do make the playoffs, we likely won't go very deep. But there is reason to think our Off could improve and this could be a an even better team than last year. I would say just wait and see. Don't be so down on the team, its just way too early for all that. We haven't even had a preseason game. By the way, when we do, it will still be too early to panic because preseason and even training camp aren't very good gages of how you will do in the regular season. Be patient, the time to really evaluate this team will come, but its not really time yet. RollTide 07-28-2008, 06:08 AM Intensity level BS.. I was at some practices in 2005 and thought the intensity level was real high. Look what happened. You have to go back to 2000 i think to find a titans team with this many positions set going into camp. All the starting positions except one, left guard, are already set. With roydell out there really is no battle at WR it is gage and mccareins and the real battle is for #3 and #4. What would normally be a battle for MLB is not because of fowler's shoulder. Of course there are always about 30 guys just fighting for a roster spot. That's in every camp. Even our depth is set in many ways. I don't see anything to worry about stability is good... RollTide 07-28-2008, 08:40 AM why do you think the titans DL is the best in the nfl? Well a start might be that 50% of our starters are among the best players in the league at their position. Brown is a solid player and anyone who watches him at camp can see why. Incredible quickness and agility for a DT with KVB type intensity. We have kearse no bum. Based on what i saw among our young kids on the d-line the future looks good. Jones looks really solid and ford is impressing everybody. Hayes is coming on and johnson and vickerson are at least solid DT depth. I see a D-line that has quality front line starters and is 8 men deep. Next year will be an issue if we lose haynesworth but this year we are solid.. TitanJeff 07-28-2008, 10:15 AM I don't know if Fowler is going to be able to keep off Tulloch. He's getting noticed already and I would not doubt that he may get a start in one of the preseason games at MLB. JMB54 07-28-2008, 10:58 AM I don't know if Fowler is going to be able to keep off Tulloch. He's getting noticed already and I would not doubt that he may get a start in one of the preseason games at MLB. Big Al is sure singing Tullys praises. Carpy 07-28-2008, 11:09 AM Well a start might be that 50% of our starters are among the best players in the league at their position. Brown is a solid player and anyone who watches him at camp can see why. Incredible quickness and agility for a DT with KVB type intensity. We have kearse no bum. I heard on Sirius radio that Tony Brown logged more snaps than any D-Linemen in the NFL last season. He is the perfect compliment to Haynesworth. The Gloat 07-28-2008, 10:18 PM I don't know if Fowler is going to be able to keep off Tulloch. Fisher will turn his head, and keep his drinking buddy starting. |
