I left a little early with my brother to beat traffic, but a good practice overall. I'll list a few things that caught my eye while its fresh in my mind. Standout plays and notes of interest: -Albert Haynesworth continues to disrupt the line. He went inside BSP halfway through practice, but came back out and continued to practice. He did his usual. -Biren Ealy fielded a reverse and got to the corner before everyone else and sprinted down the field for a nice gain. -Vince Young doing what he does best, taking off after a play broke down, looking real good. His running shouldn't be a problem. He looked pretty good today, connecting to Alge and Scaife in the 10-15 yard area several times. He did get picked off by Keglar I believe, didn't see the number. -Ingle Martin. Threw a beautiful pass over the middle to Jaime Petrowski for a 40 yard TD. Loudest ovation of any play from the fans while I was there. He does really well in the limited amount of reps that he has. -Chris Davis caught a great pass where he beat Reynaldo Hill, to be subquently drilled by Lowry as soon as he landed. -Chris Johnson had a good day, but dropped a couple of flare passes, and bobbled one. He did well though running in between the tackles. Did I mention he's really fast? He really does make it look effortless though. General Notes: -P. Williams, Biren Ealy, and B. Jones all got work with the first team today. -Chris Henry got drilled pretty good a couple times as he took reps with the second team. -Lendale White of course worked 1st team, putting on the "burners" on a flare pass. -#97 bust through the line and started screaming like a lunatic while proceeding to stalk Vince Young for what would have been a sack. The pass was incomplete anyway. Definitely had everyone laughing. -Haynesworth looks as good in shape as he ever has. Better actually. The way he's playing in camp, I'm sure he will carry over from his outstanding play last year. Thats all I got. I have several pictures, and if I have the time i'll upload them within a couple of hours. Go Titans! Gunny 08-01-2008, 10:57 PM Thanks for the update Alpha. Sunshine 08-01-2008, 11:06 PM I was there, too, and never saw Crumpler. Was he excused? Alpha-Centuri 08-01-2008, 11:08 PM No he was there, he's 83 right? It sounds like it. Crash Override 08-02-2008, 02:18 AM I am really happy with our depth on the dline, we are really solid there. No matter what having a good dline will always help your pass defense. It sounds like it. I think the kid really has a chance to be a stud. Considering the jump in competition he is more than holding his own and he is effective with limited moves. I can't wait to see him blow people up in the pre-season games when he goes against 2nd and 3rd teamers. He seems to spend alot of time in the backfield. Jones has looked real good as well. Da Architek 08-02-2008, 01:46 PM Man guys VY had a BEAUTIFUL deep ball pass to Hawkins.... guys it couldnt have been anymore perfect.... Hawkins beat Harper (of course) on a double move. Vince hit him in stride for an easy 6. Crumpler's hands are amazing Guys I dont know if our inconsistent execution on Offense is Vince or if its the play of our Defense... Guys our D is gonna be LIGHTS OUT! We have good depth at EVERY position EXCEPT CORNER (should trade for Litto) Lastnight Paul Williams was looking good. he is definately faster than I thought. Chris Davis finally got noticed... still think he will be cut. The WR front runners are looking like J Gage, JMac, BJones, PWilliams, Ealy, Hawk) Dont know if Roydell will make it even if he comes back in time. Im still pulling for Williams out of Lane Martin looks good even though they were in shells and shorts.... may be pushing for a roster spot. Our Dline is sick. Wow Barry Booker is STRONG... Im liking Paynesworth, Brown, Mookie, JJones, and Booker. Dont know if we will carry that many DTs Williams is RAW but guys he looks like he is gonna be good. Ford was aggressive, but got stalemated a couple of times.... Dont get why the titans havent tried him at LB Da Architek 08-02-2008, 01:48 PM and guys EVERYTIME CHenry touched the rock he was getting rocked! He is definately tip toeing in the back field. If it werent for his draft status he wouldve been cut Da Architek 08-02-2008, 01:49 PM AND Lendale still looks huge! He got winded on the RB drlls. I dont get what its gonna take for him to take conditioning seriously vslyke 08-02-2008, 02:13 PM Williams is RAW but guys he looks like he is gonna be good. Which Williams? Paul, Edward, or Cary? Gunny 08-02-2008, 07:50 PM AND Lendale still looks huge! He got winded on the RB drlls. I dont get what its gonna take for him to take conditioning seriously I haven't seen any training camp (obviously) so I cannot comment fully but LenDale is never going to look like a supreme athlete, he has a thick body (as the Mrs likes the call it) so while he may not look fit, it is possible he might be (one day). Da Architek 08-02-2008, 08:31 PM Which Williams? Paul, Edward, or Cary? Sorry about that homie.... I was talking about William Hayes. You can see his strength and explosiveness. His head is just spinning with all of the plays and technique thats being thrown at him. Thats why he is absolutely killing it in drills then looking somewhat lost when they go live Da Architek 08-02-2008, 08:33 PM I haven't seen any training camp (obviously) so I cannot comment fully but LenDale is never going to look like a supreme athlete, he has a thick body (as the Mrs likes the call it) so while he may not look fit, it is possible he might be (one day). Gunny I completely understand that, but this running back has a GUT! Seems like he doesnt take conditioning seriously. Definately the slowest starting running back in the league Sunshine 08-02-2008, 10:14 PM White's physique reminds me of Bettis. There's more to it than having a six-pack, and if White can put up Bettis's numbers, I won't complain. reo 08-02-2008, 11:26 PM Gunny I completely understand that, but this running back has a GUT! Seems like he doesnt take conditioning seriously. Definately the slowest starting running back in the league he definately has a very noticable gut. I only went to camp once last year so I can't say if he's in better shape or not but it is very noticable. And just being a big guy w/ a gut doesn't mean he's Bettis. that's one of the most annoying things ppl like to say as an excuse. Bettis had a bigger frame than LW and he had really quick feet for a big guy. Lendale doesn't. he's just fat. i seriously doubt he'll be the starter in a couple years and after he's gone people will look back on him and comment on how bad a shape he was always in and how that's what happened to him. he'll more than likely be the guy this year though. RollTide 08-03-2008, 06:57 AM Bettis had a bigger frame than LW and he had really quick feet for a big guy. Lendale doesn't. he's just fat. We can analyze this all we want but jerome bettis played 13 seasons and averaged below 4 yards carry in 9 of them. And yes bettis looked a little fat in uniform. Why did the rams trade him to the steelers in the first place? Because of back to back seasons where he averaged just 3.2 yards and 3.5 yards respectively. His 2nd and 3rd seasons of his career. The rams thought he was too fat! He goes to the steelers a better team with a better line and has 2 big years, just 2 and then falls back to being the same guy. There is not a big difference, bettis is going to the hall mainly because he was able to stay around 13 years. |
