Johnson to Represent Titans in Pro Bowl
SUMMARY: The NFL announced Tuesday evening that Chris Johnson will be the starting running back for the AFC in the Pro Bowl. Johnson, a second-year pro, is within reach of the 2,000-yard rushing plateau and is 234 yards away from Eric Dickerson's single- season record of 2,105 yards. He is also within reach of Marshall Faulk’s NFL record of 2,429 scrimmage yards. Johnson has 322 carries this season for 1,872 yards and 12 touchdowns. He has also caught 47 passes for 483 yards and two touchdowns, giving him a league-high 2,355 total yards from scrimmage. He will be the Titans' lone Pro Bowl representative.

I just don't get why everyone complains SOO much about CJ having 322 carries in 15 games. That averages out to 21.5 carries a game -- that's barely 5 touches per quarter. He's never run more than 29 times in any game, which is just 7 touches per quarter. In one of the games where he ran 24 times (6 touches per quarter vs Arizona), he ran better in the second half.

While I agree that more carries exposes a runner to potential injuries and increased wear-and-tear, I believe that CJ's running style and elusiveness keeps him fresher throughout a game than most other backs.

His combination of speed and slighter build makes him a smaller target for heat seeking missile-type tacklers. I bet that defenders more often than not resort to tackling him by arm tackles (or nudging him out of bounds) rather than by direct hits.

322 carries...plus 47 receptions.

Thats 369 touches or 24.6 touches per game..not to mention any pass blocking he has to do. He will end the year with 400+ carries and receptions.

Hopefully the # of carries goes down a bit next year...im guessing it will since more teams will most likely force VY to beat them with his arm.

I do think just lookin at the amount of carries he is ok...not like he's approaching 400+ ala Jamal Anderson and Larry Johnson. I can't really remember him taking any huge shots and he generally seems pretty smart about when to hop out of bounds or go down quickly once he cant go any further.

C.J. gets thumped a lot. Those numbers will show eventually. He's barely 200 lbs, and fights on nearly every carry. Hovering around 400 touches is tough for a guy like him. But unlike L.T. and others, C.J.'s workload doesn't consist of pounding the ball up the middle. Most of his work is on the edges and outside, so I'm not too too worried that he has a high number of touches.

But back to celebrating our Pro Bowler; hell yea C.J. is starting in Miami! That man deserves to win a game in Miami this season. Now he'll get the chance that Jeff Fisher stole from him.

Let me explain Gunny,
We did beat Miami but not there. Last season in January at 13-3 and up til last week, most Titan fans thought C.J. would have had a shot at the Super Bowl (in Miami) so for nearly 11 months I honestly felt C.J. would get a crack at the Super Bowl. But since Fisher wanted to "give us the best chance to win" by doing what he did, we lost too much to get a ticket to the playoffs where C.J. could have gotten to Miami. So for 7 of 8 weeks I felt C.J. was going to Miami with the Titans in a Super Bowl.

Now officially in the Pro Bowl, he is getting that win I wanted him to have a week later.

There's no guarantee the AFC wins but its the AFC vs. the nfc.

C.J. is so good he will get a Super Bowl, but Jeff wont be the cause. So as long as Jeff is coaching, C.J. gets no ring in Tennessee.

I just have one question. How in the world can we potentially have a 2,000 yard rusher and not have one single O -lineman going to the Pro bowl. Just does not make sense to me. But congrats to CJ for making it.
