When has a player signed a contract like this in football?

Even setting aside the ridiculous numbers, a player like Kenny Britt is going to push hard for as much guaranteed money as he can get because he knows (or at least his agent knows) that it could very well be the last deal he ever signs in the league. He will in no way be interested in signing an incentive-laden deal.

If the Titans proposed a contract like that to him now, a year before he hits free agency, Britt and his agent would laugh in their faces. Well, the agent would, at least. Britt might get distracted by something shiny.

    Why not????

B/c Britt can easily make that much in FA next yr, regardless of the type of yr he has this yr. Realistically if the "incentives" even added up to 10 million (which would never, ever happen) he still would be a compete moron to accept that sort of deal. No one would accept that sort of deal in any sport when they could easily get more guaranteed money.

Ok. Just stop guys. Get some rest. If you want to believe your imaginary numbers are better, than go ahead. But unless something is offered, it doesn't exist. It's 2013. Not 2014. Kenny hasn't played a down of football. There's a benefit to signing a contract with a nice signing bonus. Instant money (he can invest it and have $400K a year to live on), he could settle into his career and work on his game (job security), and get a hefty payout each year when he performs well.

The Titans get a great receiver for years to come. It's a win win.

Just because it hasn't happened doesn't mean its stupid. That's terrible logic.

And for all the folks saying they want to trade Britt for a 3rd round pick, stop contradicting yourselves...you can't say he's not good and then say that he won't sign for a decent contract.

And regardless of whether he gets hurt or not this season, he's still going to have value...we can extend him now, and if we still don't like him after this season, we can trade him...

I honestly think this is his year that he gets back on track though...if we even have a chance of making the playoffs this year, it's because Britt was a playmaker. Without Britt, we won't make the playoffs. With him I think we actually have a chance. IMO, trading Britt for a 3rd round pick is like giving up on this season. Yeah, he might get hurt or arrested, but atleast we went for it. There's no 3rd round pick this year that will bring this team what Kenny Britt can bring us.

Do you see any contract numbers besides the signing bonus being split up over 4 years?

I honestly don't know where people are seeing these numbers I'm not typing.

Darrelle Revis isn't one arrest away from being out of the NFL forever. Not comparable at all.
