The Titans drafted tackles Michael Roos and David Stewart in the 2005 NFL Draft, and they’ve been consistent starters ever since.

Behind them, the Titans have Byron Stingily and Mike Otto.

The 2013 draft is also filled with talented players at the position, from Texas A&M’s Luke Joekel to Central Michigan’s Eric Fisher to Oklahoma’s Lane Johnson. Alabama’s D.J. Fluker could also be a top 15 pick.

So is it a position of need for the Titans?

    Well, sort of.

“We are fortunate to have good tackles, and I think that is one of those things where if you’ve ever not had tackles, then you know how fortunate we are because they are difficult to find,’’ General Manager Ruston Webster said. “Really, no position is out of play for us. I think that is one of those positions – people say you can never have too many good defensive linemen, I don’t think you can have too many good tackles either.”

Stewart broke his leg in Week 13 of the regular season and had surgery.

Titans Coach Mike Munchak said he’s recovered nicely and should be ready to take part in offseason workouts.

If we draft a tackle in the first, i'm going to have a brain aneurism.

I would be fine with it if the rookie can play guard for a few years. That way we have a backup plan if Roos or Stewart go down again and we have someone ready to step up when they're gone. It sure will be hard to replace both of them if they both leave at the same time.

We definitely don't need a tackle in the 1st, but would like to see one 4-7. Our back ups are just not very good.

Next year is the year to grab a tackle.

Taylor Lewan, Jake Matthews, Cyrus Koaundjio, David Yankey, Seantrell Henderson, Zack Martin and James Hurst.

Yeah, but that assumes we don't need an qb next year.

I'd rather take a LT who I know will be here for ten years over reaching for a QB again. The problem with picking a QB in the first round is chances are you need a top five pick to get one who is truly a franchise QB. I don't think we'll be that bad this year, regardless of how Locker plays.

No, but our team is getting to the point where it might be worth pulling a Washington and trading a kind random fire the right guy.
