From what I heard out of their own mouths they were dead set with Warmack at #10

Do you guys think if Cards had taken Warmackminstead, would we have taken Cooper? I don't think so, I think we would have either traded back or reached for somebody

I love that! The Warmachine had to prove himself to Bruce.

I was also very skeptical about taking a guard so early. I wasn’t even open to considering War or Coop. But honestly, this was the first time that I just couldn’t find anyone else that I wanted. I liked a few different players but no one seemed worth it. No one stood out to me as the obvious playmaker. Then I finally looked in the guards and wanted the WarMack-Truck. He was the BPA at that point and just so happened to fill our biggest need.

    Perfect!

I’m very excited but I know it’s not going to be an immediate improvement. A lot of guys are saying we will have one of the best OLs in the league, but it is really going to come down to how the guys gel together. Someone needs to step up the vocal leader of the group. Mawae was a great leader. If they can build that chemistry and motivate each other… then we can have a BEAT of an offensive line.

I somewhat agree with the cyclical nature of the NFL.

I do think the rule changes favor passing more now, so I wonder if that effect will linger.

I don't think there's any question that the league is now a passing league and will remain that way. I think there was a concerted effort on the part of the NFL offices to make it that way. More passing = more exciting = more points = higher TV ratings.

There will always be a place for teams that run hard and control the clock. There will always be a place for good defenses. Some of those teams will even win championships.

But the NFL is never going back to the way it was in the 80s and 90s (and before), when teams just handed the ball off 3 times and punted if they didn't get a first down.

There wasn't a guard close to Warmack's level in the 2nd, so your point is moot.
