The third outside receiver isn't "just depth".

Regardless, Let's not pretend Nate is Megatron. Do you think Nate is top 2 on over half of NFL teams? I don't.

But if he, an aging vet who lacks explosiveness, isn't ok with being our 1st guy out, then trade him.

But I don't get the "Well Nate is gone" thing. Mariani and Hawkins should be out, not Nate

Hawk should go first and Mariani is an easy decision to cut, but if someone wants Nate and willing to give us something solid back then you have to pull the trigger on that deal.

This isn't enough info to even call this a rumor.

No but Nate Washington would easily be at least 3rd on almost every depth chart in the league. We are just in that 10% now.

There is no way they are going to keep Washington on the roster for almost 10 million over two seasons.I also don't see us keeping him here for nearly 5 million this season. He is getting older not to mention he has been banged up at times and last year if not for having one more catch than Britt he would've been third in passes caught. With the addition of Justin Hunter this knocks Washington down to fourth and five million is way too much to pay what will be your fourth best receiver.

I wasn't sure at first but all signs are pointing to Nate Washington leaving Tennessee.

I'll sum up the counter argument-

    - He's our most reliable receiver on the team.
    - He's been the most consistent player on O.
    - We have a young/sh*tty QB that needs WRs he's familiar with that run good routes. Nate seems like Locker's go-to guy- if he has one.
    - 4th most talented? You guys REALLY value draft status, don't you? At this point? Nate is better than Kendall Wright. Sorry.
    - Britt will likely be hurt or in trouble once again. Or... never the same. You're really assuming a LOT when saying Nate will be 4th best.
    - Oh right. If quitting rumors are true... because Nate Washington was the ONLY player that quit last season... pffffttt...

No team would even give us a grain of rice for Washington. It's best to keep him.

I agree with what most of you are saying, but this tweet in now way says he will be traded or cut.

I like Britt, and hope he can pull it together, but I'm not banking on it.

I LOVED the Hunter pick, but he is a rookie, and I don't want to rely on him.

Wright was great last year, and I expect him to improve and play a bigger role in the offense, but he is still young and hasn't proven to be a 'go to' guy yet.

Damien/Hawk/Mariani haven't really done anything in all the years they've been here (DW has done the most, but still not a lot)

Nate is really the only guy in the last 3 years that has produced consistently. He isn't a top 10 WR, he isn't a franchise guy, he may not even be the most talented on this team, but he is the only true vet with experience that we have, and has been consistant.

If all goes right, then losing Nate wouldn't be a big deal, but that is assuming a LOT goes right. That's assuming that Wright takes that next step, Hunter can produce right away, Britt stays healthy and out of trouble ... there are just too many variable that need to go our way (you do realize that this is the Titans, and what can go wrong will, right? lol)
I really think that getting rid of our most consistent WR is a bad idea right now. If all goes well, then we can cut him next year.

Ideally, I'd like to have Britt, Wright, Hunter and Wash for 2013. I just don't see it happening. And no one is saying Nate is Megatron. I'm not even saying he's a #1 receiver. But I do think he could be a solid #2 upgrade for a few teams.

I just don't see him being happy playing second, err fourth fiddle. We'll have to see how it plays out though. I think it's a bit naive to think that there's no chance he's gone. On the flip side it'd be naive to think he's absolutely positively out the door. I think anything could happen. I just have a hunch he's gone.
