I've seen very few members of the national football media who like what the Titans did this offseason. Lots of criticism about how much money the team spent and how it didn't really get that much better.

Before you jump all over me, I'm not saying I agree with that. That's just what a lot of national writers are saying.

Until the Titans start winning playoff games, people aren't going to take this team seriously. It's a small market team. That's just the reality. We're all dismissive of teams like the Jaguars and Raiders abd Bills, so it shouldn't be too hard for all of us to understand how other fan bases can be so dismissive of the Titans.

I can understand that people who don't pay attention just write us off. Like you said, I do the same thing for other teams like the Raiders, Bills, etc ... but I pay much more attention to teams within the division, and I would think that as a sports writer for a team, you would want to pay close attention to what the rest of the division is doing as well (that was actually the point of the article on Titan sized)

It really did come across to me that this guys was just a homer. He thinks the Colts are great, and overlooks thier shortcomings (which are many), and then basically says that everyone else in the division is taking giant steps backwards.

As a Titans fan, I know that the Colts won't be an automatic W for us next year, but I also know they aren't as good as their record showed last year either. Texans will likely be about the same as they were last year, maybe a little worse but not much, and the Jags will be better but still not good IMO as they are really just in the beginning stages of a complete overhaul.

I do understand the national media not giving the Titans any credit though, and thats okay. I've come to terms with it. It will always be about the Cowboys, Jets, Giants, etc. for them.

The colts may find that by not playing a last place schedule that the going is much rougher in 2013. I did not really like their draft and they had lots of money and didn't do much of anything free agent wise. I think we beat them once and maybe sweep them this year!

Problem I see is the Texans are much better than the rest of the division

Their schedule won't be much different than ours, but I do agree with what you are saying.

I mean, if you look at the schedule they played last year and how they fared, its really not very impressive.

They got blown out 3 times (Jets, Bears, Pats) and struggled against inferior teams. They lost to Jags in week 2, and they scrapped by a bunch of other crappy teams (win by 1 score or less) against Browns, dolphins, Bills, Chiefs, Lions, and Titans x 2 (both were flukes wins vs the Titans too)
In fact they only won 2 games by more than 1 TD ... and one of those games was week 17 vs Houston, where the Texans didn't have much to play for. So really, the only team they beat convincingly was the Jags in week 10.

Just think about that for a second ... Out of their entire schedule, they had 1 convincing win and it was against the worst team in the NFL. Thats not very settling if I'm a Colts fan.

Look, I don't want to take away from their wins last year. I know if the Titans finish with 10 or 11 wins, I don't care how they get them. But last year is over, and their overall body of work doesn't really bode too well for this year. They could be good, but it they will have to have some drastic improvements if they want to get 11 wins again.

And I am not just knocking them because they are the Colts ... This is a lesson that I (and most Titans fans) learned all to well last year. 2 years ago we finished 9-7, and I felt really good about the team. But when I looked back and really started breaking down our schedule a couple of months after the season ended, I realized that we only had 1 win over a quality team (Balt). And I became a little skeptical of if our 9-7 record was a true reflection on that years team. Turns out it wasn't since we went 6-10 the next year with virtually the same team. At least this year we went out and specifically tried to improve the team, which gives me some hope for us.

I feel like the Colts are set up for a similar let down this year.

The only thing Im obsessed with however is keeping up with the whole Titans team. So if in doing that I happen to scroll down a few timelines online, so be it, but I dont "stalk" anyone. That would be creepy.

Your signature in this case is particularly relevant...

I've gotten so used to it by now, I expect it and really its nothing new. Heck, even if we win the division next year (perhaps even in a somewhat dominant manner), this time next year pundits will be calling it a 'fluke year' and that the Colts/Texans had bad years and will bounce back.

Still though, back to the article, he did hit the money with one point though:

And that my friends is very true...

When you go out and buy talent like we did, it often takes more than an offseason and some OTA's to start gelling. Also, takes some time usually for coaches to develop better plays and schemes to fit player abilities as well. I'll tell you what though, if Jake miraculously finds accuracy and turns into a stud QB (in a good system by Dowell), that can be very much accelerated indeed. So back to the age 'ol saying, 'guess we'll have to wait and see...'
