I wonder what would happen if the Canadian NFL teams enforced their labor laws.

Wait we are getting London and China before Canada and Mexico - that aint right at all.

I'll believe it when I see it.

There are too many cities in the states that could support a franchise that don't have one.

London I could see but not anytime soon.

The travel time isn't a big deal. Not much difference from San Diego/Seattle to New York York or New England.

Living there might be, taking 21 year old kids that just got drafted and telling them they have to go to freaking London for their careers won't go over well with everyone.

The NFL doesn't have an international talent base to draw from like the NBA, MLS, MLB and NHL. Those are international leagues, not the NFL.

LA still sits empty. When they put a team there and maybe in Toronto, I'll believe that London will get a team.

How many teams can you realistically have in this league? 36? 38? Before you start losing quality.

Canada has the CFL and Semi-Pro football so it would not be a huge deal.

And I think Mexico would be perfect for the NFL. Having spent some time living in Monterrey, Mexico I can say a team in any of Mexico City, Monterrey or Guadalajara would do very well.

Can't see too many NFL players wanting to go to London. Very high taxes and one of the highest costs of living in the entire world. Travel anywhere would be brutal.

    BEST point.

Internationally, it will take decades, if not generations... to get NFL caliber players internationally. Pretty much every foreign-born NFL player played NCAA football in the USA.

Hockey, you get players from all over the place.. Soccer even more-so. Until you make football a European phenomenon, it won't work permanently. The UK and most of Europe are Soccer territories, More northern parts are hockey territories. Nowhere in Europe is an American football territory. It takes a lot of knowledge and specialized equipment to play legit football, and I don't see there being a lot of interest. But I'm sure they could make a few games per year there really sell out for awhile, until the novelty runs out.. and it will.

Rozelle and Tagliabue were both great commissioners.I'm sorry to say it but i don't think Goodell is good for the league at all.I think a lot of his changes will not be good for the game.Sure they need to try and make the game safer but the way he is going about doing it is sucking the fun out of the game.Football has always been about being physical and hammering the opposition with hard hits.Goodell is trying to water it down by taking away the defense and their ability to be physical.Well besides trying to make it into flag football he is trying to put teams overseas when there are still places right here in our own country that can support a team especially Los Angeles. What is the big deal about going overseas when you can try to expand and promote the game here in our own country.I think this is a big mistake as well because soccer will always be first there while football at best will be a novelty for the overseas market. Finally the way he fines the players on defense when most of the time they are laying the wood on the opposition is totally wrong and he is made lots of enemies among the players with the fines just because they are playing defense.Sure the owners love him but the players don't trust or like him much.I know others agree with me that Goodell is bad for the game and making a lot of unnecessary changes that will ultimately be wrong for the NFL.

For the exact same reason that the NHL expands in the US nontraditional markets and not in Canada. The USA (like Canada) is saturated with teams, and fans ALREADY have a team. NHL will move to places like Nashville and Phoenix, Florida, etc. because of POTENTIAL. There are millions of potential hockey fans in the USA that were untapped until they moved here.

The NFL has the USA, it is their territory, and there's little room for growth. By going overseas, there are millions and millions of potential football fans there. There is tons to gain. By moving a franchise to LA, you are not adding any new NFL fans, you're just taking away fans from other teams. If I were the head guy, I'd be looking to expand internationally, too. They're in it to make a profit, after all..

The potential loss is no worse than the move to make the Jaguars.. and the potential gain is sky high. Nobody's going to stop watching because of a team in London.. but there is the legit shot that hundreds of thousands will start watching because of that.

The true slap in the face is if any outside US city (besides Canada I guess) gets an NFL team before Germany. Germany supported NFL Europe. Why we show London so much love when their NFLEuro team folded is beyond me. NFL should be playing 1 game a year in Germany before England.
