The issue here is your ignorance, not the rest of the world's. In terms of overall television ratings and attendance, the Raptors do better than the majority of NBA teams.

Of course, they still suck. I live in Toronto and don't care about the Raptors. But at least I'm able to see the objective reality of the situation and call it what it actually is.

Getting back to the overall point, it would be incredibly foolish for the NFL to ignore the fact that to grow the game means to globalize the product. Just because the name of the league has the word "national" in it is a pretty poor reason to ignore that necessity.

The reason not to go global is the fact that the rest of the world doesn't care about the product. It's soccer to Americans. It doesn't matter how good the players are or whether this is the biggest sport in America, the rest of the world just doesn't give a ****.

The game in London once a year sells out because it's an event. It's an annual thing that happens and people go. Give them eight games a year with a bad team(which is what they're going to get) and that team will be back stateside in no time, guaranteed.

The best MLS teams in the US draw around 15,000-18,000 people per game. No way in hell does the NFL live with that to grow the game that the rest of the world doesn't care about globally.

I think the reason that you see the NFL trying to expand and not the others is just that the NFL is so much more popular here than those other sports are. There really isn't a whole lot of room for the NFL to continue to grow in the US. If you are gonna like the NFL, then you probably already do. Adding more teams won't really increase the popularity much, it might make a few new NFL fans, but not millions more.

NBA, MLB, NHL could all stand to do much better in the US still. I mean those sports are popular, but not to the extent that the NFL is here. So trying to expand into other countries when you still have plenty of room for growth here is kina silly.

Not saying that I want to see a team in London or anything. As an NFL fan I think it is dumb ... from a business perspective though, I can see the appeal. And the NFL is a business.

I wish they would at least look at Canada/Mexico 1st though since the logistics would be much easier, and could provide a sort of 'stepping stone' to set a precedent for the NFL outside of the US. If that can be successful, then look at expanding over to Europe.

I think Canada would be the logical 1st choice though since they already have the CFL. I think you could put a few NFL teams up there and be pretty successful with them.

Not to mention that players file taxes every place where they play a game, so I can't see players willingly putting up with playing under England's tax laws every week. This is going to be met with significant NFLPA resistance.

Could be worse. Could be France where they would have to give up 75%.

This is the stigma the NFL has to overcome to be successful in Europe. Sounds a lot like American opinions about soccer. Never going to happen.

Yep. Hockey is massively successful in Sweden, Russia, and other northern European countries, but those places already have leagues that dominate, (KHL in Russia) and the travel would just make it not worth it.

that german guy is a moron. WGAF what it's called? yes, it could be called something better, more appropriate for what it is, but who cares? Is a sport's popularity based on what it's called?

If it were called poopball, poopball would be a hit here. NPL.
